I think some people were put off by his show style gimmicks and never gave his music a chance. One of the greatest rock n roll artists of all time IMO. Excellent songwriter.
Just got back from a live concert shortly before posting here. He can still rock it pretty damn well for 75, has a great band playing for him (dear God Nita Strauss is an absolute goddess). Hell of a show, loved every second of it.
There's not many hard rockers that could put as many songs on the top 40 charts as Alice did. He was truly something special and I was incredibly lucky to have grown up during his hey day.
I was 13. Alice was front page news here in the uk.....'Lock up your daughters' !! When my dad saw him on 'top of the pops' he looked at me a little worried knowing I had become a fan of this lunatic. Still sounds as fresh today as it was over 40 years ago. One of the best albums of all time imo. I'm 56 now and still as mad as Alice!! Good times.
Alice knew how to put together a kickass band. If you ain't the greatest guitar player around, don't even apply for the job. The Trash tour was some of his best shows ever. The Bassman is like magic here. I'm old, and this song gives me the same goosebumps it did in High School when it was a #1 hit. School's Out was our theme song back then.
@@deepalkessa8938 Pete Friesen on the classic Alice lines, the excellent Al Pitrelli doing the shredding. Pete was with Alice a long time. He's great. The hot backup singer was little Devon Meade. I'm a big fan of hers. heehee
Happy 74th Vincent Damon Furnier, February 4, 1948 Detroit, Michigan.. Alice, you are a rock icon that brought rock and theater together. Which spawned the rock group called Kiss, and many more. Keep golfing.. It keeps you young. I'm not worthy.. I'm not worthy..
I saw Alice on The old Grey Whistle test when I was 13. That was it for me. Huge fan ever since, seen him numerous times and got to meet him in the 80's. I'm 61 now and still listen to him. Legend!
the man is a living legend , i wanna meet him one day just to tell him that , awesome , takes me back to the 70,s everytime i hear this album , good times .
Met him at a convention. Nicest guy ever. I lost my meet and greet ticket and his staff were shooing me away rather aggressively. Alice just said let him come in and talked to me for longer than the staff would like from their body language. I assume it was to show them who the boss was but whatever the case I will never forget his kindness
Alice Cooper billion dollar babies was the first album I ever owned and I can still recite every word to every song from elected 2 billion dollar babies it's amazing I don't think my mom had a clue I was listening to at the ripe old age of 12 Alice Cooper was 20 years ahead of his time that is a fact
Always loved Alice. I got 'Department of youth' tattooed to my shoulder, i took it back in '06 when i was 19y, just a week before i went to army. I've seen Coop live a few times and he always put's a great show. Also like him as person. He has feets on ground, humble, smart and funny guy. Compared to other rock stars who often too many have created grande illusion of themselves and are spoiled brats. Muscle of love, Billion dollar babies, Killer and Welcome to my nightmare are the best albums. And Muscle of love is on my top 5 as best albums ever. Others are: Kiss Destroyer, Hanoi Rocks Bangock shocks, Saigon shakes, Hanoi rocks, GNR Appetite for destruction and Van Halen VH I.
I seen Alice Cooper in the late 70’s. We had great seats & I left thinking that was the best show I e ever seen. The 70’s that’s what teens did was go to concerts & believe me I’ve seen bands from A to Z & he was awesome! It was a talent artist no auto tune, over the top costumes or dancers just great music.
Alice cooper was one of the greatest rock performers that ever lived! He came out when I was little. Everyone was talking about alice cooper. All the cool girls talked about alice cooper! It was one of the greatest times I ever had ! Hugs and kisses to everyone that was there ! I remember seeing some of the coolest girls I have ever seen! From; john kozlowsky 😀😀❤❤😀😀❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😀😀😀😀😀❤
WARNING TO THE FUTURE NURSING HOME: I’m going to bring my Magnepan speakers and every single song Alice ever did. And I love it loud. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
I saw Alice in Greenville, SC on Halloween. It was the Brutal Planet Your. He did this show and shook bills, it looked like C-notes into the crowd. I was and still am a long-time Cooper fan and he didn't disappoint.
seen him live in 78 at the hollywood sportatorium and in 91 at bicentennial park in miami, the guy is truly a legend. his concerts are an event and must be seen to believe.
I was there! (in 1973) I was 11 years old and I begged my father to take me to see Alice Cooper and he took me. I still remember Alice Cooper's red pants and the smell of all the pot in the stadium and how everyone used their lighters to light the place up.
9th grade, in a school play titled "The Dollar" I was the play's antagonist. It was photographed enough for use in our 1972 yearbook. Feathered, Sonora Raider's BABY cover of w/ doll.
Cooper needs to get a keyboard player back into his live shows. It will add an extra dimension to so many of his songs, especially those that had keyboards and piano
He does, i rather him get rid of one of the guitarist in favor of a keyboardist. When i saw him 2 years ago it sounded like crap with 3 guitars playing at the same time. Needs a new band in general, they looked bored when i saw them and they got blown away by Edgar Winter and Deep Purple
Silly Halloween there. These shows have a lot of satirical pomposity along with an old Hollywood circus kind of absurdity to it. This is a theater musical. The stage show is entertaining, yet, I can say the songs stand on their own. I love Alice Cooper's wild nonsense and humor as this nightmare villain. Ha ha! Great stuff.
One of the best friends of Dalí..Mr. Vincent Furnier aka Alice Cooper..The Master of the Horror Art Rock !!! And this is my favourite Song !!! Salud y Vida Pa'lante !!! Cheers and Life On !!!
I remember when this album came out and a lot of my friends were Alice Cooper.....ooooohh.......I went to several parties over the summer of 73......and took this album which I put on the stereo systems of my friends....and CRANKED it........Alice ended the summer with approximately, 160 plus new fans.........thats a conservative ########...........
Written by the GREAT Rockin Reggie!!! Poor guy now has dementia after having a stroke AND heart attack!! But he was an amazing musician and song writer!!!
Glam rock before America even knew what it was. The album cover creeped me out when I first saw it as a teen. He's pretty tame by more modern standards but he was the "freak" of his day.
