This song epitomizes Alice Cooper. He was my first crush as a kid. I remember being in the backseat of my parents car, passing theaters featuring his movie “ Welcome to my Nightmare”, but I was too young to go. Fast forward to 1990? something? whilst living in London I met the man at Tower Records in Piccadilly Circus. I’m showing my age, but I don’t care. I still love him so. And I feel so strong.
This band was always under rated by the main stream for their talent, despite their dominance of the music scene and too never win a Grammy at that time proved they were ahead of their time and ignored by the voters.
I bought Billion Dollar Babies when I was 13 years old, and it quickly became one of my favorite albums of all time, and this song is a huge reason why. It never gets old, and is as great as the first time I heard it over 30 years ago.
The one and only greatest band ever “The Alice Cooper Group” Michael, Glen, Dennis & Neil! Oh and ALICE! Untouchable and one of kind, never will be beaten! This is in my top 5 Alice songs of all time!
@@johnhareiel5118 all by the Original Alice Cooper Group would be… 1) No More Mr. Nice Guy 2) Elected 3) Hello Hooray 4) Schools Out 5) Shoe Salesman 6) Under My Wheels 7) Be My Lover 8) Public Animal #9 9) Desperado 10) Beautiful Flyaway
I saw him in Leeds a few years ago, with my daughter. He must have been 72 then but what a show! What a mover!! My daughter suddenly realised why I've always loved him and his music.
Listening to all this early Alice Cooper music just permeated in my mindset and totally altered my thinking on life and things in general. I wouldn't say that it warped my mind but it opened my eyes to another reality of life. And that was only listening to the records and not actually seeing The band in concert. After seeing Alice Cooper and the various incarnations of his band throughout the years performing live I dig the music and the theatrics but I still consider the listening of the music and songs the better experience of this particular band. I really appreciate the depth of Alice Cooper and his music.
I've loved the original Coop's music since being introduced to it as a 13 year old in '73. But by '75 or 76 I had thoroughly outgrown the theatrics and imagery that became plain formulaic (particularly after Shep sabotaged the band who by '74 were already sick of the costume BS) and never grew up along with me. In fact, I felt embarrassed for Cooper. But the music was always great, and it still is. This track is masterfully arranged and adapted from Kemp's original.
Big time Alice fan! But, this song is one of my lifetime favorites not only by him but all of the music I’ve listened to for 59 years. Just soooo damn good👍
Alice Cooper is one hell of an artist singer Who always brings out the best in me when I get down on myself I listen to his music 🎶🎶 God Bless him . Rock ON
What an amazing, very creative, talented and special rock band..excellent musicians, composers and solid performers that survived the many roads, gigs, planes, booze,drugs,etc...some say this band was so good that a few of their songs still get airplay to this day and considered classic rock n roll songs...such as schools out..eighteen.. no more mr nice guy..elected..etc even a slow song that climbed the charts, only women bleed... truly talented group that made a big splash when blasted onto the music scene all those yrs ago...thanks for posting this
I met Malcolm.McDowell from A CLOCKWORK.ORANGE in New Mexico. .and he told me Alice was his golf buddy so that led to read Alice's biography GOLF MONSTER...LOTTA FUN AND A GOOD READ!!
Billion Dollar Babies is One of the best Albums of all time, this song exemplifies the vocal and written talent the band was capable of. Alice Cooper found his artistic niche and created works that will last forever.
Exactly...1973...even the good kids at school had to have this album...and you could buy the top hats 🎩 almost anywhere. Alice gave us a damn good summer that year...
Alice has great following in Britain. There was a football match in '73 between Brighton and Portsmouth, lots of fighting. The Portsmouth fans came dressed as Alice, top hats, mascara, clothes, jewellery, the whole Detroit look. Trashed Brighton then they stormed along the seafront. Featured on the TV news film that evening.......
Imagine how Alice must have felt at that moment? Nervous,of course but I mean having your dreams come true! He was on television! People were learning about him!
Alice was funny as hell on THE HOLLYWOOD SQUARES. EVERYBODY just seemed to like him. I saw the Welcome to My Nightmare special on midnight tv with Vincent .Price
BACK IN THE DAY, or ONCE UPON A TIME...THE 70s...half the fun of a new album by your favorite rocker was.. The artwork of the album cover, and ALICE was king of the over-the -top album sleeves. LOVE IT TO DEATH was called a gatefold cover, it opened up to twice its length and there was this STARTLING high contrast photo of the Alice eyes with the makeup...SCHOOLS OUT was a masterpiece of comic art.. A school desk that you assembled by perforations on the cardboard, the top lifted up like a desk, and the album had...are ya ready...a pair of lacy panties stretched over the album...BILLION DOLLAR BABIES opened up like a green snakeskin wallet and had a giant billion dollar bill on it (with Alice's face on it....this of course instantly got put on our walls)....MUSCLE OF LOVE was in a flat cardboard shipping box...FROM THE INSIDE opened to reveal the asylum Alice was singing of on the concept thread of the songs., Alice's face an eerie shade of Wicked Witch of the West green (BTW, remember the song MILLIE AND BILLIE from that album....comically dark, or darkly comic?).. NOBODY EVEN COMES CLOSE TO THIS TODAY...A NEW ALICE ALBUM WAS AN EVENT.....AND STILL is!!!!
@@hjs1378 There were some other.great album cover artists from.the 70's.. Bowie (ziggy,Aladdin,Diamond Dogs)...Moody Blues (almost always a double gatefold with amazing pastiche of various styles)..Led Zeppelin...Queen...and of course, YES, (THE Roger Dean masterpieces...Jon Anderson did a solo album...Olias..and created a story based on Dean's other-worldly paintings)..... FTR, Jeff Wayne's WAR OF THE WORLDS the double album set with its amazing illustrated book was unforgettable ....still being performed almost 50 years later, with a couple of new editions that have been released, along with numerous remixes).. .so much fun..
The first time I listened to this song was 35 years ago and the God I feel so strong line still gives ms cold shivers...... Such a powerful song and sung with such conviction.
I remember it also! South Florida had several great venues for all the heads and hippies back then. The Fronton, Sportatorium, Miami Baseball Stadium, Sunrise Musical Theater, etc. Good Times!
Hello Hooray Lyrics Hello! Hooray! Let the show begin I've been ready Hello! Hooray! Let the lights grow dim I've been ready Ready as this audience that's coming here to dream Loving every second, every moment, every scream I've been waiting so long to sing my song And I've been waiting so long for this thing to come Yeah, I've been thinkin' so long, I was the only one Roll out! Roll out with your American dream and its recruits I've been ready Roll out! Roll out with your circus freaks and hula hoops I've been ready Ready as this audience that's coming here to dream Loving every second, every moment, every scream I've been waiting so long to sing my song And I've been waiting so long for this thing to come Oh, I've been thinking so long, I was the only one And I can stand here strong and thin And I can laugh when this thing begins God, I feel so strong, I feel so strong I'm so strong, I feel so strong I feel so strong, so strong God, I feel so strong, I am so strong So strong, I feel so strong, I feel so strong I feel so strong, I feel so strong, I feel so strong Yes I'm strong, feel so strong, feel so strong Source: Musixmatch
