I am from the north of Argentina. I am 52 years old. The first time I heard this great song was around '77. My older brothers listened to it from a cassette that was given to them by a friend of theirs. We never knew who was the group that played this song, but we liked it a lot. The melody was always in my mind and in my memories. I searched for years on the internet but no luck. Just today I was able to listen to them by chance on a radio and I was able to discover who they were!!. beautiful song !!!. I started crying in the car while listening to it.
I've known and cherished this song since I was around 12, luckily they made a version with a band from my country, Iris, and that introduced me to this amazing band. I'm happy you finally discovered them as well.

She came to me one morning, One lonely Sunday morning, Her long hair flowing in the mid-winter wind. I know not how she found me, for in darkness I was walking, And destruction lay around me from a fight I could not win. Aaaaaaaaa, Aaaaaaaaa She asked me name my foe then. I said the need within some men To fight and kill their brothers without thought of love or god. And I begged her give me horses to trample down my enemies, So eager was my passion to devour this waste of life. Aaaaaaaaa, Aaaaaaaaa But she would not think of battle that reduces men to animals, So easy to begin and yet impossible to end. For she the mother of all men did council me so wisely then I feared to walk alone again and asked if she would stay. Aaaaaaaaa, Aaaaaaaaa "Oh lady lend your hand, " I cried, "Oh let me rest here at your side." "Have faith and trust in me, " She said and filled my heart with life. "There is no strength in numbers. Have no such misconception. But when you need me be assured I won't be far away." Aaaaaaaaa, Aaaaaaaaa Thus having spoke she turned away And though I found no words to say I stood and watched until I saw her black cloak disappear. My labor is no easier, but now I know I'm not alone. I find new heart each time I think upon that windy day. And if one day she comes to you drink deeply from her words so wise. Take courage from her as your prize and say hello for me. Aaaaaaaaa, Aaaaaaaaa Aaaaaaaaa, Aaaaaaaaa...
No ! Me and my best ex friend are both UH fans from 1972-73. I am a Ukrainian, he is a citizen of a state to the east, and now many children of our generation are standing on different sides - some defend their land and others are trying to “grow their state with land” 😡
My father didnt have internet and i made a cd for him with this song on it. I saw his eyes when he heard it. Stopped talking and he was just listening. I know he had a lot of memories about this music. That moment was our magic!
Was damals war gibt's nie wieder.
I am 72 in 19 days. I am also a head banger until I die. I love this group. Some of the deepest lyrics ever if you listen. Powerful. Great group I am privileged to have enjoyed their music.
I had dinner with Ken Hensley at a Farm Aid concert in Southern Mo. He was very humble and didn’t believe me when I said I grew up with his music. I started singing a few of their songs and he was delighted that some midwestern kid knew their music. Mid 80s. I will never forget how accommodating he was.
Selbst in 2024. Yeah love this song.

Finland calling! I have always loved this song, it completely takes me to other worlds, somewhere magical, where long-haired women dance in the forest and men Adored them
So VERY TRUE! This a MASTERPIECE song by Ken Hensley. I'm still a Heep fan, but I one of the other guys sing KEN's song and he oversung it to the point I cringed. I don't think anyone else can sing it like he did; it is HIS song. There are many vids of this song, Ken did some as a solo act, one w/a Russian orchestra. I like this German disco version--I spent some time in Germany while in the USAF, and I really enjoyed it. I was very young, it was the mid 70's , my first assignment, and I was digging the "VIBE" the place had. The vid reminds of all the sweet German girls I bumped into while there, and yet I "escaped" somehow, w/o marrying one. I'm much older now, & I wonder, "WTH"???????
Agree. Hensley is most underrated rock musician of all time. Brilliant songwriter, great guitar and keyboard player and had a terrific voice. He could really hit those high angelic harmonies that was trademark Uriah Heep. He never gets the recognition he deserves.
One of the many many things i will be grateful to life and GOD is to have been born in this time to listen to gems of the late 60s, 70s and early 80s. Uriah Heep and other greats. raise be to God.
the darker the times are, the more memorable the bright spots are. I don't miss the dark times, but I do miss the bright spots like this song, and how legit the music sounded back in the 70s and 80s.

69k views absolutely shameful for this legendary classic. Some of today’s music gets millions of views within hours but this song and band wipes the floor with all of them. R.I.P. David Byron, Gary Thain, Lee Kerslake & Ken Hensley.
i still have the vinyls and it was the good old days.nobody was fighting or doing bad things. I'm 60, but my brain is still optimistic. I'm not old-fashioned, but what do these young people think? good old band, feel cool...
Hello from Vienna🌎 ❤️I am 45 now in November 2023 and since i heard this song , the listening/watching goes on and on. My favourite musical clip ever because Ken Hensley was not only a brilliant poet with deep content . He undersstood how to perform this song. All of us meet our „ lady in black“ - a moment, turning point in the life when you just receive a new coordinate system and step sure , only forward trusting your intuition , your experience without blaming surroundings . From this moment you just know how to live with inner peace inside you and feel strength and cosmic support if needed. And those who have not met their „lady in black“ yet don‘t forget to say „hello from Ken.😀🌎🪐 when it happens . And for me he is alive❤️☘️☘️☘️☘️
I was eleven. Will never forget how it touched a particularly sad place in me. My brother died that year and my baby sister 2 years before. This song helped me grieve since it wasn't allowed in my family.
Thanks my older brothers i like this kind of music, i’m 43 and i’m so glad i enjoyed listen this, my 5yrs dougther enjoys listen and singing as well,!!!
