Tracks 7, 8 & 9 from their third album “Love It to Death” released in 1971 copyright Straight/Warner Bros. Records. It was recorded at the RCA Mid-American Recording Center in Chicago. After their first two albums were unsuccessful, the band decided to move their home base from L.A. to Pontiac, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit Rock City. Their manager Shep Gordon approached Canadian producer Jack Richardson, who had produced six Top 40 hits for the Guess Who, a couple of which were released just the year before. He agreed to take on the project as executive producer but delegated the job of day to day production to his nineteen year-old protégé Bob Ezrin. After meeting the band, Ezrin initially declined to work with them but after seeing them perform live, he was intrigued by their theatrical presentation and the rabid response from their fan base so he agreed to join the team. Pre-production began in Pontiac and Ezrin was able to convince the band to turn their extended psychedelic jams into tight, hard rock songs that he rearranged note by note. Frank Zappa had sold his Straight Records label to his distributor, Warner Bros. the year before. After two unsuccessful albums Warner was hesitant to release another, so it was decided that “I’m Eighteen” would be released as a single first. It was an immediate success, reaching No. 7 in Canada and No. 21 on the Billboard chart. The full album was released soon after and is now considered a classic. Although it received mixed reviews back in the day, it’s cited as a major influence in the development of heavy metal as a genre. It reached No. 35 on the Billboard chart, No. 34 in Canada and No. 28 in the U.K. It was certified Gold a year later and Platinum in 2001. The original album cover is famous for Cooper creating the illusion of his exposed penis by sticking his thumb out from behind his cape. The uproar led to the record company using a censored version of the original photograph on subsequent copies. The band’s collaboration with Bob Ezrin would continue on future albums. Written by Alice Cooper/Michael Bruce & Alice Cooper/Harry Butler & Rolf Harris and produced by Jack Richardson & Bob Ezrin. RIP Glen Buxton & Jack Richardson. Featuring:
Alice Cooper - Lead vocals & harmonica
Glen Buxton - Lead & rhythm guitars
Michael Bruce - Rhythm guitars, keyboards & background vocals
Dennis Dunaway - Bass & background vocals
Neal Smith - Drums, percussion & background vocals
Special Guest:
Bob Ezrin - Keyboards
I couldn't tell if the bells were getting louder
The songs they ring I finally recognize
I only know Hell is getting hotter
The Devil's getting smarter all the time
And it would be nice to walk upon the water
To talk again to angels on my side
(Time is getting closer, I read it on a poster)
(Fanatical exposers on corners prophesize)
It would be nice to walk upon the water
To talk again to angels at my side
I just come back to show you all my words are golden
So have no Gods before me, I'm the light
"Mommy, where's Daddy?
He's been gone for so long
Do you think he'll ever come home?"
I was gone for fourteen days
I, I coulda been gone for more
Held up in the intensive care ward
Lyin' on the floor
I was gone for all those days
But I was not all alone
I made friends with a lot of people
In the danger zone
(See my lonely life unfold)
(I see it everyday)
(See my only mind explode)
(Since I've gone away)
I think I lost some weight there
And I, I'm sure I need some rest
Sleeping don't come very easy
In a straight white vest
Sure would like to see that little children
She's only four years old, old
I'd give her back all of her playthings
Even, even the ones I stole
(See my lonely life unfold)
(I see it everyday)
(See my lonely mind explode)
(When I've gone insane)
I wanna get outta here
I wanna get outta here
I, I've gotta, I've gotta get outta here
I, I gotta get out of here
I, I gotta get outta here, I gotta get outta here, I gotta get outta here
I gotta get out of here
They gotta let me outta here, let me outta here
I gotta get outta here, let me outta here
I gotta get outta here, gotta get outta here
I gotta get outta here, I gotta get outta here
I gotta get outta here
(See my lonely life unfold)
(I see it everyday)
(See my lonely mind explode)
(Blown up in my face)
I grabbed my hat and I got my coat
And I, I ran into the street
I saw a man that was choking there
I guess he couldn't breathe
Said to myself, this is very strange
I'm glad it wasn't me
But now I hear those sirens callin'
And so I am not free
I didn't wanna be, I didn't wanna be, I didn't wanna be
(See my lonely life unfold) I didn't wanna be
Leave me alone, I didn't wanna be, don't touch me
(See my lonely mind explode)
(When I've gone) insane
Sun arise come every mornin'
Sun arise come every mornin'
Sun arise come every mornin'
Bringin' back the warmth to the ground
(Sun arise fillin' up the hollow)
(Sun arise fillin' up the hollow)
(Sun arise fillin' up the hollow)

A 1971 listen on plastic vinyl all the way !!! I was only 13, a young girl that was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO IN LOVE with young Alice at that time. I had posters of him everywhere in my bedroom, drove my Mother mad, God rest her soul. I am a young girl of 65 now, young Alice pictures are still really cute to me even now…………..you NEVER forget your first love.
