@@natea3799 maybe he is a fanboy, maybe he isn't. Not the point tho. To me, Sebastian Bach did an amazing job. If someone didn't like it, feel free to watch something else you do like.
I appreciate how he didn't try to impersonate Layne and made this song his own and for that i say respect to Bach. The only person that can do this song justice is Layne R.I.P.
Screw all the haters. I love the original AIC as much as anyone but what Bach did here was a tribute and he did it in his own fucking style...which absolutely rocks! The way he rocks that last chorus is electric and everyone there was lucky to hear it. Thanks to SKID20055 this will now be a part of history on youtube and hopefully I will get to listen to it another 1000x times!
Layne RIP my friend!!! Sebastian did a awesome job!!! Have heard him sound better but he did great!! That was cool for him to dedicate Man in the Box to Layne!!! Can't believe Mike Start passed too!! They lost their souls to herion!! So sad two gifted musicians with so much talent and great jams!!! I have seen Sebastian Baz a few times solo has a great band and still kills it!!! He rocks!!! 💕💕💕💞💞💞💟💟💟 Peace and Love Alicia Estero Florida 🌴🌴🌴🌴💝💝💝🌴🌴🌴💕💕💕💞💞💞💟💟
Grunge was more of a scene than a genre. Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, and Mudhoney, for example, didnt have much in the way of musical similarity that wasnt also shared by a lot of bands not considered "grunge" . Also, Skid Row's Subhuman Race album had a very obvious Soundgarden (who they toured a lot with in the early 90s--along with AiC and Pantera) influence, so it's not too odd to hear, really
I love Bach. One of best rock vocalists you'll ever hear, but man this song proves without a doubt how unique Layne's voice really was. Don't get me wrong, it's probably the best version I've heard so far, when compared to even James Hetfield, Phil Anselmo and others, but wow...
This is why I always liked Skid Row, and had respect for Sebastian. He was one of very few 80's guys that wasn't pissed at the 90's bands for killing the 80's hair metal. He even went so far as to say he really enjoyed the change of musical scenery, and applauded a few of those bands for carrying the torch for metal music. Not to mention... Sebastian is arguably one of the best metal vocalist of all time. No one could ever hang with Sebastian's range and falsetto control.
@@MeLoNHeAd00 The only healthy and "easy" way to distort is through pushing the air/notes in the nasal resonance or "the mask" not pushing the fry, Layne and Bach did it the same way, they just have different voice tones that's why the grit doesn't sound the same, Bach has obviously a brighter voice with not much darkness like Layne's and basically all 4 big grunge singers have/had.
This is pretty impressive. Bach did a good job singing this song. Honestly, I prefer this cover better than Hetfield and Phil's Would. Man, Bach would be a good nominee for the next AiC frontman, no offense to Will, I love that guy.
I swear some AIC fans just cannot be pleased. If somebody sings it their own way they say it's bad but if they sing it like it always has been, then they say the singer is trying to emulate Layne. Nobody can top Layne but if you can't appreciate somebody paying tribute or that the other surviving members want to keep doing what they love doing, then you're an asshole.
Everyone is always trying to see who can sing that chorus with the accuracy and the power Layne had and while no one will ever be Layne, this was DAMN good. Way better than most that I’ve heard.
What a great voice Layne had...we all miss him so much. Sebastian Bach, one of the best voices in rock history, so much power. Oh God, don't ever let Rock dies!
Hell I'm yeah!!! Just think how awesome this would sound with some practice. Baz you are the bomb! The other guys were enjoying the shot out of this, they even hit the harmonies...
Layne had one of the most amazing and recognizable voices in music...his voice gives me chills. Sebastian also has an amazing voice and uses it in a far different way than Layne did. I loved this!! Sebastian paid perfect respect to the master and did it without compromising his talent or trying to be someone he isn't. Well done Sebastian!!!
Muito foooodaaa....Sebastian Bach com Alice in Chains é anos 90 em peso com o q há de melhor!!!!!Cadê os Brazukas de plantão q curtem um Hard Rock no post??LONG LIVE ROCK N ROLL
Sebastian is an amazing singer. I have never heard anyone with a voice like his. He is the best singer of ALL time and will always be. Past-Present-Future
Born and raised in Seattle, and no one loves and misses Layne more than me, but Sebastian is one of the few who actually gave this song a decent go. The pitch on this song is insane, a bunch have tried, (including Hetfield) and he is one of the only guys that can do it jsutice. Give him credit for not hating a Seattle band that derailed his genre completely, a lot of the guys from that era hate the seattle bands. Nice Sebastian, I like it.
I give him props because most people try to do their best Layne Staley impression when singing this song, and Sebastian made a choice to sing it with his own voice.
+Joshua Montoya honestly i expect that haha. Bach was one of the best rock singers of the 80's if not all time. His voice isn't what it once was but is still pretty good now whereas james never really could sing all that well.
I don't make a living making music like alot of people leaving a comment, but I have been a huge music fan and guitar player for 35 years. I had no idea Sebastian Bach had pipes like that. I thought he did as good a job as any one could with a very, very hard song , filling big shoes. Great pitch, vibrato, feeling, timing, and I agree in-fucking-sain range. I believe a good singer can make a song his own, he did that perfectly. Bravo to the whole band on this video. !!! thanks for posting.
Im voice instructor in our area...sebastian bach's vocal ability is awesome, it got power and very unique. he knows how to control his voice properly in accordance to any songs he's singing.
As a big fan of Alice In Chains and Layne Staley..WHY..OH WHY do people think this is a bad performance from Bach? Have you tried it yourself? Can YOU fucking stay in the tune and can YOU feel the passion that this mans feels when he sings this classic? I think this was a great cover. There were some great damn moments. Get real people.
Tyle Alden Yeah but it was effortless, this was impromptu, he could do better. Seb was not in his prime here but it was easy compared to what he is used to...its only grunge.
Not anymore... I love his Skid Row stuff but the guy sounds like ass as of the last few years. First 2 Skid Row records he was untouchable in his mixture of power and range up high.
I think that he was trying to "mimic" layne just a little with the vibrato, but did the rest his own way. I love sabastian bach, but he had HUGE shoes to fill with that song. Layne staley was an amazing vocalist.
they were both amazing vocalists in their day. they just sing differently so he had some shoes to fill. even if it was the other way around, layne would also have some huge shoes to fill
back in the day maybe, but bachs voice has gone to shit. I'm a huge skid row fan so it kinda kills me to say that. You wanna see him sing, check out "live at the moscow peace festival, 18 n' life, he rocks. As far as layne, singing was effortless for him. No straining, he could just sit there and sing, flawlessly.
