me and my wife visited new york in 2017 and great memories . we played this song to remind us. she died last year age 57 cancer and i play this song because it is her i think about when it plays.
This song has given me the push I need to end my toxic relationship. There is so much world for me to see. Why should I allow myself to be chained down by a person who brings sadness to my life
Growing up in a small town in Norway during the 80s, New York was always the shining city on the hill that I dreamed of visiting. When I finally went for the first time in 2012 I had this song playing in my head all the time while enjoying the view of the 230 5th rooftop bar 🥰
That is one of the greatest songs ever but only when ALICIA sings it, no one else even comes close to her voice. I love the way the background singers open the song too , it is just special.
Hello Alicia. The first time I heard this song something inside me changed. I have suffered with depression my whole life but didn't know it till i listen to this song. This song made me break down in tears and i couldn't understand why. That's when my life ended. I got a second chance in life and got help , learned it was depression. I guess you saved my life so I thank you for that. Whenever the depression get bad I listen to this song . Their is no help or a cure for depression and their is only one outcome.
What I love about Alicia is that she's one of the few female mainstream artists today that is a true musician. Others are singers, performers, celebrities...she's a pure, simple musician first and foremost. Something missing and highly underrated in current music industry, that is so eager to rely on shock value, controversy and and sex to sell females. We need more authentic women musicans that inspire a new generation of artists (as opposed to inspiring girls to become sluts and sell). I heard Alicia speak in a TV show about women issues the other day; besides being a wonderful artist, she's one of the most intelligent and down-to-earth famous people I've seen. Forget Beyonce hypocrisy trying to be a diva and the girl next door at the same time, forget Miley, Katy and the rest of them trying to be something else to grab your attention. Alicia is so authentic, smart and truly humble that such elements make her stand out from the crowd of pretentious bitches.
Beyonce is the worst (as you said, hypocrite) because she's all "FEMINIST" but she's always half naked and shaking her bootie, so, what's up sister? you claimed women are treated as sex objects but you seem to like it.
Will never forget that day when my sober mum told me what had happened. I couldn’t believe it and having visited GroundZero it chills me to the bones. God bless all of you and God bless all the fire and police souls who were heroic. My son is a police officer and I worry about him every day. ….omg I fear for my grandchildren 😢
Alicia Keys has something intrinsically magic about her voice, her powerfully gifted instrument, and yes, her piano. She has something that very, very few in the industry have ever had...
You should know. This is the best song for NY. Most popular after Frank Sinatra. And Alicia was under 30 when she sing it first time. Now this song not just a visit card. Its an icon of this city.
From Scotland, visited New York as a 25yo in 1976, this this great song by a fantastic singer and musician brings back so many memories. Retired now, so unfortunately will never get back.
There's no artist out there that is more talented than Alicia keys. I freaking love her so much!!! She is a superwoman :))) She is so freaking beautiful it makes my heart hurt
This song hurt me so much... Reminds me my mom, she's passed away in 2020 and she loved this song, soundtrack of our favorite tv show too, Gossip Girl. Mommy, i love you so much forever!🥺🥺😭😭😭
Every time I watch this, I get distracted by the three backup singers. They always remind me of The Three Degrees, back in the 70's....."When will I see you, again...."..Incredible!!!
I've said this elsewhere but I'll say it again - Here in Melbourne Australia we've been hearing this song get endless air play particularly on 91.5 Smooth FM, it's only just now on a steamy hot Sunday morning I went looking for the artist who sang this, I just typed in "New York" and the first to come to the top of the list was Alicia Keys, never seen her before didn't really knew her name until now....if I was a New York'ian I'd be very proud, this song carries what it must be like to live in New York the feeling the lyrics the strength in Alicia voice the chorus is to die for....each time I hear this song it gives me goose bumps and I can't help seeing every New York person feeling proud when they hear this....well done Alicia even on the other side of the world we hear your message, and not to mention you look amazingly beautiful....I love your song!....I'd love to listen to an extended version Alicia just so I can keep these goose bumps goin....and that New York accent...love it!
Alicia Keys lights me on fire watching her in this song. Can't take my eyes off her every move. Every thing she does is eye candy to me. Starting to sweat. More Alicia Keys please. LOL
Performance gave me chills. I have always loved this song and stumbled onto this live version. EXQUISITE, pure and simple. Ms. Keys is an astounding artist and musician. No fluff, no "image," just a pure, unique talent.
This makes me remember the trip my mom and my two sisters took to New York city.. Oh gosh at least 15 years ago..this will stay in my mind forever. We had such a great time! I love New York city. (Plus I was born there❤). Thank you Alicia for making such a great song! I miss NYC.😃
Growing up as a lil girl with dreams to go to go NYC. “Momma if I die without going there, I wouldn’t have died happy” two years ago she made my dream come true 😆❤️
