This is a live solo performance by Alicia Keys with no band and no backing singers. No percussion, no guitar or bass. It is not the best vocal - as noted below it is in not quite the right key. But of all filmed versions this is unique - the others have full accompaniment. Hearing it stripped so completely down to AK by herself shows what a classic song 'Empire State of Mind' is.

Wow. Alicia Keys is amazing. It's got to take a ton of talent, precision and control to sing every note on key, not one flaw, and play the melody for the song at the same time. You can't even hear her take gasps of air. She is a true talent.

The crowd is funny... you can tell they are used to just rockin' the hell out when they here this song, and they don't really know what to do with this version. It's like, throw your hands up, but what do you do with them once they're up there. You can really fist pump to piano. :-)

yay!, a non rap version! I don't hate rap, its just....it doesn't fit in this song... most people know the chorus only but when it came to the rappin part ppl just try to go with the flow of it..forcefully.
