It's cute how she fangirls Billie Eilish so much. Talent knows talent I guess. The main issue with covering a Billie song is that she has this knack of conveying the emotion and getting in your head. It's a gift. Billie also has flawless pitch and a beautiful, delicate vibrato. She would be great at singing 40's torch songs.
This is to everyone who says Billie can’t sing: if Alicia struggled a bit with the song is because is made for a very specific register and voice because Billie sings in a very specific tone and that’s what separates her from the mainstream si her! Alicia did an amazing job with her rendition because she is one of the most gifted voices of our time but she arranged it to fit her tone and obviously she doesn’t sound like Billie

Exactly!! Everyone has an opinion so I’ll respect the others. Just kind of think well it is a cover and they are 2 different types of singers with ways of producing and both versions are just great! I just love the admiration between the two (Billie and Alicia) it just makes music great to listen to :)

I don't think it's incredible at all. Everyone's fascinated by Eilish because she's incredibly creative. Alicia Keyes was also quite a bit younger, when she had her creative peak, in her twenties, more or less.

The age is really not important. Typically, your creative peak is between 18 and 25. Eilish was a few years early. A few artists are creative after they passed 30. After 30, typically lack of creativity is replaced by skill, and also letting others write and produce/arrange songs for you.
I just wish Alicia could remind Billie that song titles aren’t supposed to be in all lowercase. That faux-edginess is annoying - the shift key exists, Billie! USE IT!
Everyone’s complaining about how the song doesn’t fit her, but honestly she sounds fine. I think you guys mean the deeper tones in harmonies, that’s just Alicia’s thing though. Other than tone, her execution is what matters. That’s the point in music. Her dedication and appreciation of billies music is all that really matters. Her appreciation alone is really beautiful.
I think people aren't used to this not sung in a soft head voice vs a projected voice. I don't agree with the people saying she sounds bad. I think they are just used to Billie singing the song.

Alicia sang this Perfect! She made every word her own. She Adores Billie and resonates with her songs. Every time I hear her sing Billie’s songs it gives me the feeling right where my heart should be, right where I want it to be.
I feel Alicia did a phenomenal job with this cover.. the way every aspect was produced and brought together gave it a slightly less polished almost darker but sincere vibe. I appreciate its uniqueness to an already amazing song in itself.
It's interesting to hear Alicia cover this song because it could be interpreted as her relationship with fame . "Would I do it again?" "If they knew what they said would go straight to my head what would they say instead?" When Billy sings it, it's about the start of a teenagers life in the public's eye. When Alicia sings it, it's the reflection of a Woman who has lived famously for over 20 years.

I agree. I didn't like her version of Ocean eyes too. She has great piano skills but its like either something happened to her voice or this songs are just not ok for her. But I rarely like covers of Billie because Billies voice is what make that songs special.
Surprisingly Billie's songs can be actually really hard to sing because she has a very unique voice. Alicia and Billie voices are so different that it's very hard for them to sing the others song. But a lot of incredible singers have a hard time singing Billie songs because they are specifically made for Billies type of voice, which as I said is very unique. Hopefully that made sense lol.

I just heard this on the radio and it stopped me in my tracks. Personally I think this is incredible cover. Alicia makes you listen and think about the lyrics in a whole different way. Equally intense but in a different way to Billie. Shivers.
Alicia Keys is a great singer, but I would say her voice doesn't sound good here. Flat and even slightly off-key during verses. Billie Eilish might not have a tremendous vocal range/power, but from what I have heard so far she's meticulous with each note.

Sorry to say but isn't she singing off key quite a lot? I guess she is having a hard time singing with such a soft voice. Billie sometimes gets hated for singing with a soft voice; I don't get it, because I think it's beautiful, but it also turns out to be really hard, again proven by this performance.

She sang beautifully! Billie has a special type of voice that is hard to sound like. It’s not whispering it’s singing in lower notes n stuff. Everyone can belt yes but I’ve never heard someone else sing like Billie. She’s a great Change to the singing industry and so young. I love Alicia Keyes, her spirit and her music; but as a musician I have to say she struggled with this at times. People criticize Billie's breathy, sometimes quiet delivery; but seem not to notice that she seems to have perfect pitch over a fairly wide register. I have listened to a massive amount of her music, recorded and live, and I cannot recollect ever hearing her off pitch. People praise the extraordinary emotion her voice can express, and the obvious genius of her (and Finneas') songwriting, with all of which I heartily agree; but other people's covers tend to highlight how difficult it it is to sing Billie.
