I did the same thing when i saw Matrix Revolutions that i went full rage because they killed off neo and trinity and destroyed a vhs tape of austin powers which by the way I got another copy of that movie and shout out loud I F**KING HATE THE MATRIX Because it made me angry

It's not my first but my older rant I did years ago isn't up anymore.

I honestly don't even think the set design is that amazing. It looks mostly the same. It's boring, dingy, and dull to look at. It's just a boring old rusted out refinery and a couple other rooms. And yeah, the Gibson script was great. But Fox thought it was too much like Aliens and would cost too much and passed on it for Ward's unfilmable script about a wooden planet full of monks that they eventually scrapped anyway. Everything about this film is fundamentally flawed except for a few performances and the score.

@@Ribelin2000 The Last Jedi is the last stand for me for Star Wars. And both Alien 3 and last Jedi fucked over their franchises. Both ripped out Star Wars and Alien/Aliens's soul. The Last Jedi is a boring, wretchedly written, dickslap in the face to the original trilogy and it's characters, same for Alien 3 being Both are total disappointment. And there is no going back from this. The Last jedi's actions have made everything that the characters from the original trilogy fought for? Completely pointless. It turned Han and Luke into utter failures and made them a disgrace. Especially Luke. The way his character was written and portrayed in this film was pathetic and insulting. Same for Alien 3 of being an insult to Ripley that she turns from a likable heroine in the first 2 movies who finally had her chance to have a new family to being an emo slut who wants sex after a funeral. And Luke being portrayed as a loser who resents the Jedi and drinks blue alien milk as he said "The Jedi must end", Luke would never say that as it goes everything against the character as i knew the original trilogy for years since the 80s as a kid and Alien 3 also goes against everything Ripley was in the first 2 movies. Screw the Last Jedi. It isn't Star Wars at all. It lacks the heart, the imagination and the wonder that made the franchise loved by so many. And it is an utter disrespectful travesty to all that have come before it. It is so shitty that it is surreal. Same for Alien 3, it lacked the heart of the first 2 movies and what made those 2 so beloved. TLJ offers nothing but misery, bland visuals, cringe-inducing lines of dialogue("You're scum. ... "Rebel Scum".), pathetic attempts at humor(Those Porgs which are as bad as Gunguns and Ewoks), forgettable action sequences, idiotic writing, and beyond boring pacing. Easily the worst film of the year 2017 for me personally and without a doubt the most infuriating. Just like Alien 3 is the second worst movie of 1992 after Frozen Assests. Star Wars has no hope now, same for Alien franchise. It has been lost in the path that The Last Jedi and Alien 3 has chosen to take. Lost forever to never be seen again, just like the Jedi that returned all those years ago. Aliens ending was a beautiful wrap up to the story and the Dark Horse comics were better sequels to Alien and Aliens. The Last Jedi is the new Alien 3. It will continue to have people defend it and say it is some amazing film that breaks new ground, while other fans of the franchise will say otherwise and mourn the loss of a franchise they held so dear. Hence why there are so many articles and videos saying The Last Jedi is really some nuanced brilliant film and that people just didn't get it's genius and that it is underrated and that the idea of "letting the past die" and committing franchise suicide was ballsy and something that should be commended. Same for Alien 3. While people like myself are shaking their heads, and not understanding at all why anyone would be defending let alone downright praising such garbage. Both suffer same problem. It has no respect for the films that came before it or for the franchise as a whole. In it's attempts to be shocking it rips the heart and soul out of the franchise and kills it. Neither franchise to me will ever be the same. And The Last Jedi is just the next victim of the decision to break away so hard and fast from the past that the future dies along with it. Because both franchises will be trying in vain to make up for their mistakes with each new installment that gets released. Alien has been doing that since Alien 3 and now Star Wars will follow suit. Aliens to me was the last good Alien film and it and Alien are the only films worth a damn. Both can never recover from both films.

Both movies sucked in my view as both were insults to the franchises and beloved characters even making Luke a sadsack loser who drinks green milk and resents the Jedi as the film goes against everything Luke fought for and deconstructed him as it started this trend of deconstructing beloved film heroes (ala Bill and Ted 3, Indy 5, Scream 5 on Dewey etc) as Luke even said "The Jedi must end", Luke would never say and i know Luke since i watched the original trilogy 38 years ago as a kid and he was one of my childhood hero characters. Both TLJ and Alien 3 suck as they fucked over the franchises and can never recover from.

Agree, both cuts suck and there's only 2 Alien movies and the game is a good midquel to Alien and Aliens, even the Dark Horse comics are better sequels to Alien and Aliens. Would you say it's The Last Jedi of the franchise?

The original Gibson script is better than what we got and the comics by Dark Horse are better sequels to Alien and Aliens than this, even Isolation is a good midquel gae to the first 2 set between Alien and Aliens.

The Disney Trilogy systematically destroyed the legacy of arguably dozens & DOZENS of legendary characters and the most iconic trilogy of all time, the originals of course haha. I understand that what they did with Alien 3 was wrong, but at least it was in keeping with the horror aspects of the original even if it wasn't as atmospheric. And honestly, even though Hicks was a good character, i don't get the obsession with Newt. Not everything in the Alien universe has to revolve around Aliens. Alien 3 while flawed is still a all right horror film. The Last Jedi stands alongside the other two Disney trashcans as arguably the three worst movies ever made.

Yep. That's what makes it so much more frustrating. You could have either done the William Gibson script or adapted the Dark Horse stories. Fox had the rights to the Dark Horse comics. They just refused to adapt them into screenplays for whatever reason.

That's a fair take in regards to the damage Prometheus and Covenant do.

@@OcpCommunications Thanks, man. I'll talk more about Alien 3 in the future, but I don't have that much time right now. All I'll say for now is this. The main story ended after Alien 3, imo. Resurrection and the other films afterwards (with the exception of the Aliens Versus Predator 2 PC game) are just non-canonical "what-if" stories.

Not just for this but for the Ward's wooden planet script as well. Eight firefights in that first draft, one of which in zero gravity in the finale with a Queen. As well as humans turning into Aliens, Bishop and Hicks being the leads with a whole new other cast of characters along for the ride and a new setting of the spaceport/spacemall. Oh and Ripley and Newt kept alive for future adventures and installments. Instead, let's piss all of that away because Sigourney Weaver is the franchise. And after paying her 5.5 million dollars and giving her creative control, the film flops anyway.

That was never established at any point in Aliens about the Queen being able to lay eggs without an egg sack. There is a shot in the film where it's clear as day that the Queen needs the sack to lay the eggs. Since they pop out of the end of the sack. Also there are some that are not even developed. So it's not just for storage. It's not a thing fans didn't understand...it wasn't a thing in the first place. The Queen was based on wasps. The wasp queen cannot lay eggs without a sac/ovipositor. And if you read it in a comic or a book? That's a completely different canon all together. And yeah the whole point of the film was to end the franchise due to sheer stupidity and Sigourney's ego because she didn't want to make any more Alien films. The Dark Horse comics prior to Alien 3 and unused scripts like William Gibson's screenplay showed serious promise and don't dilute the enjoyment of the franchise. And what was so enjoyable about Alien 3 anyway?

@@OcpCommunications I thought that her ability to detach from the sack was proof enough that it's a sack. Many animals create and deposit eggs from their bodies into them. The ability to separate from the egg sack is a basic evolutionary defence mechanism. Cameron has also stated it's a sack, so it's a thing and a basic biological function many other Aliens fans can understand. They don't need to have it spelt out to them in the movie. Gibson's script was a rehash of Aliens and not even half as good sadly. Those early Dark horse comics had Newt in a weird relationship with Hicks and some upper half of an Android with some adolescent story telling...

@@CountZero78 Except the Queen was never established to be able to lay eggs without that sac. You can clearly see undeveloped eggs in the sac. What other animals do? Doesn't apply here. Like I said, the Queen is based on a wasp. Wasp queen's cannot lay eggs without an ovipositor. It has nothing to do with things being spelled out. It has to do with logic. The Queen cannot lay an egg without a sac. Period. End of discussion. This isn't even counting the fact that the Queen would have had to sneak around on the Sulaco with barely any time, not be seen and put the egg on the ceiling. It's absurd. It's ok to admit it was a dumb lazy bit of writing to make the film exist. There's no need to keep bending over backwards to defend the magic egg. As for Gibson's script just being a rehash of Aliens? It still had some fresh new elements like the spores that turn humans into Aliens. And I felt it was pretty good. The Dark Horse comics even with some questionable aspects are still better than anything in Alien 3. Also, Alien 3 itself is a rehash of Alien and it isn't half as good as that film is.

Fincher wasn't the one that decided to kill off Hicks, Newt or Ripley. That was all due to David Giler, Walter Hill and Sigourney Weaver. So that's not really established that Fincher would have always picked that particular move for the franchise or this sequel.

@@OcpCommunications That's a logical point but I meant if he was given full control over the concept he was forced to go with. Had he had full control from the start though yea that would be interesting to see what he might have ended up doing with it. But I'm not sure with Fincher standard style that it wouldn't have always come out divisive but you never know.

Same. Never understood the hate tbh. Loved it as a kid and still enjoy it now. HIcks and Newt were great. But like you, I didn't give a flying fuck what happened to them afterwards. It was always about Ripley. Also, without their deaths we wouldn't have gotten that epic eulogy by Charles S. Dutton 👍

How is it bad? I broke the script down in detailed fashion. Is it bad because I didn't go in depth on things like the subtext that barely even exists? If you mean the order of it? Yeah, it was a bit scatter shot. I tried to get it in a decent order but with it being a stream of consciousness kind of thing? Sometimes that can get a little wonky.

@@OcpCommunications I appreciate your response. You hit it on the mark regarding the subtext and overall how this plays into Alien cannon. It was not a good scripted movie but there are elements of the movie that are important to Alien history. You dismiss that to focus just on how Sigourney Weaver ruined it. I agree a lot what you said but I simply disagree with a lot you present. Thanks again and keep making your content.

Overblown hate? It's very justified. Explain to me how this is a proper sequel to Alien let alone Aliens or how an egg got on the Sulaco? This film deliberately alienated it's core audience and committed franchise suicide. And the Assembly Cut sucks too. What's so great about it? The chesburster pops out of an ox instead of a dog in a pretty poor effect? There's more backstory for one of the 25 prisoners that you are given no reason to care about let alone root for? There's a few more establishing shots outside the prison? Please tell me how great Alien 3 is without saying it's bleak, dark, hopeless, ballsy and takes risks and praising it's superficial elements like it's tone or the subtext the writers had no time to actually implement into the script given they were writing it as the cameras were rolling. Explain to me how it has strong characters or even a strong plot. If the only thing that makes it great is vibes? That's not a strong argument in defense of the film.

@@OcpCommunications What's so great about it? Ok you asked, it's a bloody well made film (acting, direction, cinematography, practical effects, music, etc). Yes it does have its issues no film is perfect I wish we got to see a real Director's Cut but that's how it goes sometimes. David Fincher is a great director (proven by his filmography) and he brought his own vision to it (I know he claims to disown it but that's none of my business, that's studio politics for you). I like that they're all different they don't just retread Alien and Aliens. Sorry you don't like it but I would prefer something a little polarising and takes some creative risks than something that plays it safe and tries to please everybody (like the new one did, Alien Romulus).

Lol. Yeah, I have a different opinion than you on this film so that means I am wrong. That's not how things work. Also, tell me how this film is amazing other than praising it's dark tone. And explain to me how amazing it is to have a magic egg on the Sulaco. Romulus isn't great either but it's ten times better than Alien 3.
