Which is humorously ironic considering how much he enjoyed doing Dracula: Expleened last video - an actual late 90's/very early 2000's PnC adventure game. (And Nancy Drew before that) But the thing with adventure games is that, even though they're 90% logistics, the real "meat" of those games is writing (story, dialog, scene information when inspecting/interacting with objects and scenery) and world/setting; the "gameplay" of puzzle solving is mostly a means to an end - if all the cabinets and doors were unlocked, you could just walk directly to the end and beat the game in 5 minutes (Fun fact, you can actually do that exact thing in the original Myst; if you know the fireplace code after beating the game once, you can start a new game, zip down there and beat the game in like 3 minutes. I get that they take some liberties and add humorous exaggerations to the stories to make them funny, but the game here just seems like 5% hiding from an alien and 95% standard, modern day, "first person action-adventure" sneaking around humanoid enemies crap. It's why (going back to your PnC problem) there's much more for them to poke fun of in a game like Dracula: Resurrection than Alien: Isolation - it just feels like a genuinely anemic game.

​@@arandompasserby7940 as someone who has played alien isolation and watched playthroughs of it, the main meat of the game is actually becauae of the aliens AI. They only mention the scripted encounters. But the entire game the alien is stalking you and you have different tools at your disposal to turn him away, hide, or distract him. You can even sometimes use the alien as a weapon against CPU humans by the use of noisemakers. The game is very tense, not because alien scary but because you have to be constantlu vigilant, checking your motion tracker, watching for drool from vents above you, listening, etc

Also, avoiding the Alien is very engaging especially on hard and nightmare and the repetitive objectives are just there to force you to go through the level instead of just hiding forever.

it works when you play it because the alien feels like enough of an unstoppable force that of course it would mess up every plan you throw at it. But they’re also right given the film does the same thing, but ash added a wrinkle that makes it more engaging

The end of the game made me feel actually exhausted. Plan A- burning them all with a reactor didn't work, go to B Plan B- escape plan didn't work, run to C Plan C- second escape plan REALLY didn't work, RUN TO D Plan D- third escape plan... FUCK THE ALIEN IS HERE TOO GODDDAMMMITTT

It's been a while since I played but I think at that point in the story, the people she's shooting at in that part aren't normal civilians, but are Weyland-Yutani goons who are basically there just to keep the station in operation and kill anyone interfering with maintaining the station as a Xeno nesting ground. It is silly that they'd be following such insane, unethical orders, but it's also not a plot hole for Ripley to want to gun them down en masse.

When I first played this I was moving very slow everywhere. I would love to play the ps4 camera version. I need to get one of the cameras. If it hears a noise you get detected. Sadly PC doesn't have this feature. Which is a shame I kinda wish it did. Be cool if there was a mod. But this game is amazing. Playing Challenge runs can make it fun as well. At hardest the alien is always there and you get limited tools and ammo. It's also neat the voice actors came back. That was just amazing for me. I don't know if it's true but they had been unwilling to do game stuff in the past because it was just meh. Whereas they saw this game and were like yeah leave the voice actor. So they finally got a game that they approved of. To me, this is the true sequel to Alien. Aliens destroyed the perfect lifeform and made the aliens die from a pistol round. Which is silly. It was meant to be a perfect lifeform and this game shows that.

I wish Sega brings a creative assembly team to make a sequel. Alien isolation. Someone that gets the story they were telling. I think that would be great. Get the same art team to do such great work with the 80's looks. Unlike modern alien movies do the generic hologram tech. The alien should be like the 80's tech in space. It's big, it's clunky, it's slow, etc. Also get art that works with H.R. Giger's work. Modern alien films get this so wrong. It's like hologram tech 100 years before the Alien movie.

Ehhhhhhh. I love the franchise but this game is sooo overrated. You're not wrong about the aesthetics and design, they're awesome..but the AI is reeeally janky, and the whole game is literally just opening doors, or finding a tool to open a door which is behind another door, about 20 times. Rich Evans from RLM did a great review on pre rec about it haha

It would make sense, but knowing the setting is corporate hell it was probably some idiot Suits idea to get more power and bypass any regulation or patent already existing.

To be fair, the horde hive mind of the aliens super murders space marines and well armed colonists. So probably way more efficient than having a bunch of robots with guns. David did drop that black goo on the creators and wiped out an entire planet of life including the fauna. Robots can't do that with such efficiency.

That's a good point, lacking resources is the only thing I could think of, but that seems farfetched when you have robots and space travel. Even then the aliens would also require upkeep.

Also there's other purposes for the alien body that would make them a shit load of money like making medicine or other chemicals or materials. Who knows but they would have to do research on the body first

You can’t kill the Xenomorph which is hunting you, the devs made the Xenomorphs invincible but you can kill it, it just has 10,000 Healthpoints and your weapons per shot only max out at 20 DPS

It does seem like where Xenomorphs are concerned, they are either invincible outlast style stalkers (I haven't played outlast, but I got the impression you were kinda defenseless) or jobbers you mow down by the dozen with your trusty pulse rifle. There doesn't seem to be a inbetween. Its nice they give you a flamethrower though.

Plus the devs shit all over the lore of the second film. A bunch of humans with firearms can kill a small number of aliens. The idea you can empty shotguns and handcannons and flamethrowers into an alien and all it does is make it shy and run off is a direct snub to the second film. As is hiding under a desk and the alien walking passed, turning around and not seeing you by it's feet. Honstly, the game rejects all lore except Alien and its own.

@@AnonEyeMouse It’s doesn’t take place at the time of Aliens. Xenomorphs have exoskeletons that they can shrug off bullets. On a side note, the Xenomorph is hunting you and it doesn’t know if your hiding somewhere, only when you hide in the same place does it look there

@@AnonEyeMouse dude the game dosen’t ignore lore, in Aliens the soldier are using pulse rifle noted to being armor piercing explosives rounds and grenade launchers , they are using futuristic high tech space military weapon while Amanda is using a modern (technically outdated) regular gun. Also the alien can notice you under the desk, it learns and depending the difficulty it incredibly smart, easier difficultly dumbs down the AI and makes more unaware and harder to notice you

So they're uncut right, just to confirm, I mean if they were cut the well that would be very strange

Yup, different countries handle eggs differently and have different regulations as well

In the uk and EU, all chickens produced in the Food chain (egg-laying and meat) are vaccinated against salmonella. This means the meat and eggs are quite a bit safer than countries like the US that don't bother and just use chlorine washes because they're cheaper. They work, but nowhere near as well as vaccinations (look up the stats for US VS UK/EU salmonella outbreaks for more info). In the uk, it's recommended that you keep eggs at room temperature, because keeping them in a fridge and then bringing them out into a warmer environment increases the chance of condensation, which, due to shells being porous, means bacteria and viruses can be absorbed into the egg.

Unironically a great idea. Have there be some prick whos still basically lashed to his cubicle and as such is taking it out on his (former) workplace by refusing to help. All the human characters with plot points are basically a dickhead at worst but eventually come around, none of them reach Burke's sleaze or do backstabbing like the first film. There are some good audio logs, otherwise all we get is "Oh yeah Weyland Yutani own this heap now, big deal" and that's only effective if, like me, you made a point to get all the audio logs. Even then it has zero actual plot implications in terms of gameplay. Your idea is so good I'm annoyed they didn't do something like that.
