my reaction to this game "holy crap I'm in the Alien Universe !........wait......oh shit.....I'm in the Alien Universe

There needs to be a multi-player mode with 8-10 players scrabbling for the one escape pod; an escape pod that can ONLY carry one person. let the backstabbing and lying begin while a murderous xenomorph hunts everyone on Sevastapol.

Great game.I enjoyed it from start to finish.Loved the design and little easter eggs throughout( 'Blade runner' unicorn can be found in one of the offices where you lock down the vent on 'crew expendable).This was a real alien game made for fans by fans.For me ,it drew me in with its great visuals and pacing similar to the classic movies it is based on.

I’ve played through the game twice in nightmare mode! Absolutely love this game, and it owned my soul through my initial normal playthrough, then nightmare on my 360, then again in nightmare when I bought the game again on my ps4!

The A.I. on the Alien was too damn good. What an annoying S.O.B. I've never sneaked around so much, nor hid as much, for minutes at a time, in any other game. It truly gets the heart pumping, and the sound design is amazing. Just by listening, you can tell if it's in the ducts or stalking around openly. What a gaming experience.

I love the film "Alien" and I cannot wait to play this. Great review Oliver.

I like this game more than Evil Within

I think the fact that there are reviewers who rated this game down for the crime of lasting longer than six hours is indicative of the massive disconnect between certain parts of the gaming press and the public. As if the last few months hadn't done that already... Great review Olly, I'll definitely be happy to see you review more games in the future if you decide to!

this game was gorgeous on the ps4 and feels like a spiritual sequel to the 1st alien. They nailed the look and atmosphere of that movie. Has that late 70s early 80s feel. I played it on the hard setting because the menu said it was how the developers intended it to be played, and i'm glad i did. Its meant to feel like a no-win scenario. Frustrating but very rewarding finishing the game. No game has given me a sense of desperation and dread like this game did. I hope they make a sequel and develop her character more.

You definatly forget to mention that you shouldn´t use the flamethrower until the last third of the game at all. Especialy the last part is very very difficult without enough fuel. More so if you can´t get used to the stealth gameplay. I spended 95% of my time in the game crouched. Died maybe 5 times and killed no human. It wasnt that hard on max difficult if you stay crouched, move carefully and always got a plan b to escape. ;)

Best Alien game there is! And one of the best survival horrors EVA! Don't believe those dudes from IGN and Gamespot, buy this game if you haven't. Lets make sega return to a sequel idea.

I bought the NOSTROMO UK DVD Edition and played this on my custom built PC, after more than 25 years of bein an ALIEN series fan, I'm terrified of the Xenomorph again. Yes, I want Creative Assembly to make MORE ALIEN/ALIENS games. HUGE kudos to them and for 20th Century FOX for giving them over 3 terabytes alone on the first ALIEN film to make this game proper. I found out when the Motion Detector goes 0.96, you're more freely to move about and be less attentive for Androids and the ALIEN. Played on Ultra settings. It's an extremely worthy Interquel for ALIEN and ALIENS. Can't wait for more!

survivor mode is absolutely insane, you really feel like its a living thing after you, damn thing adapts to everything you do.

Strange that I've never seen this review until now, but pretty decent review. Some of the details are incorrect or inaccurate, but nothing that really misrepresents the experience of playing the game. My first playthrough was on hard (the recommended mode) and I enjoyed it immensely. I'm not great at games, but I didn't find it frustrating or overly difficult. Additional information about the rest of the DLC: there are two scavenger scenarios which have you venture from a safe room into two areas several times to accomplish various tasks. You're rewarded with loot with each task and keep all loot you've acquired from prior tasks. I think each scenario is about 10 missions total. There are also 3 sets of 3 survival mode level (the base game comes with one such level). Each level has 1 main task and 3 optional tasks with a time limit. There is a leaderboard, but last time I had checked, it had been hacked to show impossible scores. You can choose a single level, one of the 3 sets of 3 levels or all 10 levels in random order. When playing all 10 or a set of 3, loot will carry over into the next level. You only start with one or two weapons depending on your starting character, but every level has all of the weapons if you know where to look. I found it fun to make up my own challenges such as getting through all 10 levels in random order getting all of the optional tasks and never using the flamethrower.

hey Oliver have a question do you think it's perfect story based for nearest Alien Movie if Fox want to come back to Alien franchise

The engine is a masterpiece imo. It looks great, runs fast (on an average PC), uses physically based rendering, and has pretty good realtime global illumination.

I msut say, you have great talent to reviews and retrospectives, I enjoy them a lot, what I like is that you give some not known info about a movie etc. What is lacking is that you don't have big number of subscribers and for sure you deserve this, you make quality videos and this review shows that your style and naration suits not only to movies. Maybe you should make some colaborations with other bogger chanels or reviewers, I dunno, btw I hope you finally move to sth else than horror movies because there are to much of them recently. Also I hope that you will review Casino and Heat movies form 1995 :)

Definitely the best Alien game and one of the best survival horror games. You can play it in unofficial VR!! The nightmare difficulty is beastly cool! Alien AI is BRUTAL in the best of ways!! Played it to death on all difficulties, still have my name on steam leaderboards for most of the challenge maps.

Nice review sir. This is how I felt about the game; I've played on hard but sometimes had to change the difficulty in order to pass some sections. Whenever Alien was around the tension was so immense! Even with the Androids, especially when they start to chase you in their slow motion, I was very scared as the working joes are so relentless and if you don't disappear from their line of sigh, they will never give up. It's not a perfect game, but for me it was very entertaining and I want more; I bet the sequel is imminent.

I'm glad you posted this review because I've heard nothing but mixed opinions about this game. I've heard hardcore Alien fans call it a huge disappointment and their reviews focus heavily on the faults. Thank you for giving an unbiased and level headed review. I've wanted to play this game for a while may be I'll pick it up when it's on sale, and hopefully the developers make a proper action spin off to make up for Colonial Marines.

Hi Im playing the game now very good.

This was a great game and didn't get the appreciation that it needs. People are going on and on about these other games that aren't that great and over hyped yet no one says anything about good games. The reviewer mostly are the worst, they go on about these Xbox games to make sales so they don't mention how boredom set in on them but they bash or give this game no credit. So point is unless its a good reviewer like oliver and a few others that are not under ms payroll don't listen to em. Great honest review.

I tried the Hard setting, but it seemed that once the Alien first made its appearance it hung around you like a bad smell, making it far too frustrating to actually get anywhere without it leaping on you.

I got the game today and instantly fell in love with it although i usually don't like horror-games

I have a question that nobody seems to address. in the movie alien when the crew lands on lv426. Dallas says ok let's break out the weapons. now when they leave the planet where are the weapons.

I didn't find this game scary not because I have nerves of steel (although I like to believe that I do have them) but for three main reasons: 1. We know everything about the xenomorphs. There is nothing mysterious about them. 2. It suffers from similar problems to Amnesia, where after a while it's obvious when the alien vent sound effects are the real thing and when they're not. Also, even in hard, it's easy to avoid conflict with the alien (after you get the flamethrower it's even easier to just end the conflict if you're spoted.) 3. You have no stakes in the station Sevastopol or the characters therein. Therefore there is nothing to be scared about since you don't care about any of it anyway. I admit that I still felt pure horror every time the already stretched out story decided to introduce yet another filler mission with its own set of artificial barriers to the advancement of the main plot.

Fantastic game, so good I persevered and got the platinum trophy!

Only true gamers that experienced the games of the 80´s and 90´s can fathom the genius of the AI and game design. This game is a true gem in a field of dumbed down ego pampering games that are just a let down.

Alien is my favorite film so I had to get this game. I really love it but at the same time it fills me with dread. Like a pulse rifle I use it in short, controlled bursts. I got it on day one and I'm about a third way through. I'm playing on hard and it's not that bad as long as one is cautious and patient. I haven't even used any distractions yet. Anyhoo, love the review, Ollie! I was hoping after watching your reaction Halloween special you'd do a blind let's play of this game, but this is pretty cool too!

Great review. I'm currently playing it through on PS4 Pro and it's just superb, they nailed the look and feel of the first film, and that sound design is just incredible. It's a better "sequel" than Alien 3 onwards - IMHO. Check out my gameplay streams of it on my channel!

I think this game got shit on a bit when it came out. It is so convincingly alien that I'd consider it canon. Please can we get another! The first person survival horror game genre is so hot right now and I think a sequel that borrows a little from Aliens while still being "survival" would be the absolute shit.

its a nice game, i just wish it was more of exploring game, i dont enjoy shooting stuff, i've done enough of that. at least a mode that was pure stealth and exploring. guns is so typical murica lol

How can somebody not find this scary?

To my mind, there are only 3 movies in the Alien canon... Alien, Aliens and Alien Isolation. And, as much as I love Alien and Aliens, I actually like Alien Isolation the best of all. Yes, you could probably argue there’s a point where the game drags a little... I was too busy soaking in the incredible environments to notice. The ending makes up for it. However, do yourself a favour and skip the abysmal and insulting TV mini series released recently by IGN. One point... it’s kind of amusing this review is from the Xbox 360 version. I really hope Oliver went on to witness the eye melting graphics of either the Xbox One or PS4 versions.

6:45 I agree with the critic. That part of back and forth, with androids nas humans, was just some cheapass cod/dead space. If they did the game shorter and only with the alien as your only foe, that would have been a better survival horror. Just because the only parts where i was scary or tense was when you were alone with the alien.

Nice review! It's not a perfect game, but definitely the best Alien(s) game created so far.

Would love a mod that lets you kill the alien once you get the shotgun.

The ending is trapping the Alien, pulling off the mask and finding out it was some old man trying to scare meddling kids away from hidden space gold on the ship.

As for the last gen versions aka PS3 and 360. Trust me, graphically they aren't even close to PS4 and Xbox One. Not even close. I have played the PS3 version and I bought it on PS4 and the difference is like the difference between night and day.
