Watched it last night with my 11 year old grandson, he couldn't stop laughing then he was surprised when I told him it wasn't supposed to be a comedy film.. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The original Alien movies were so good, not just because of the horror and suspense but because a) Gigers art was so original and shocking at the time AND b) because you had great actors like John Hurt, Ian Holm, Harry Dean Stanton, Lance Henrikson etc actors who had grit and depth, Sigourney Weaver had amazing screen presence also. Why the hell is Hollywood saturating all their films with these young good looking (way too good looking), flimsy, forgettable, vacuous actors is beyond me, it ruins everything which is why I never watch these films anymore, they're just awful.
Fede spoke about this at SDCC and said they have been edited to make you think one thing but will be another when you see the film. The footage they showed at SDCC was the same scenes we saw at Cinemacon but they were different in some areas, longer in others, etc. The new footage we saw at SDCC will be interesting for sure.

For further Hicks adventures, i suggest the Earth War saga, starting with the novel Earth War. Because of Alien³ they had to change Hicks to “Wilks” - but it’s the same character. Promoted to Sergeant, he’s a total burn-out, on the ragged-edge, basically a Marine pariah for losing his unit. Great stuff.
Carter Burke here, uh, just to kind of remind you that this space facility has a significant financial value associated with it, and .. well, you wouldn't want to just go and do something rash like activating any sort of self-destruct mechanism or causing unnecessary damage to the interior spaces of the facility. Absolutely. Just a bunch of noname actors, some of them even can't speak English right. "There's somthen in the woa!" LOL. Yes, you can use one of the most popular franchises and make a modern take on it, but there are million examples now for remakes/sequels of popular movies/franchises, that simply suck. I think I will watch it at home (maybe), but surely will not waste my money to go see it in theater.

@@BakedLettuce710 I am not sure many people would agree with this statement, but I kinda hope they make a new Ripley, who can actually make a team to combat Aliens, just think about it, EVERY single Alien Fan would watch that film and anyone in General about a Team going around the Universe killing aliens, even if they all die in the end, I just dont like the fact thats its always kids, vs the most Dangerous entity in the Universe. This is what I thought. I home this makes sense with the story but my first reaction was "why are there a bunch of kids in space?" I must admit the rest looks intriguing.
@@wifegrant Could just be our perspective I was 16 when the first movie came out, Sigourney looked old to me. I’m 60 now so every actor looks young to me.
@@craigthescott5074 I'm older too and i do not have the same experience. Sigourney and the rest of the cast looked old to me for their actual ages. It's kinda like Cheers where everyone was in their early 20s and 30's but looked much older.
First watched Aliens as a kid in 1991, followed up with watching Alien and braved it on my own that same year when I was 11. I’ve been a fan for 33yrs. I was excited for every release after that but Romulus feels like it could really deliver, I have high hopes.
I made a similar comment but apparently, many of the masses don't seem to think so........I mean, obviously it's not EXACTLY the same vibe as the original movie, but it has a LOT of the things that made the first film great.......and of course, it's impossible to replicate the suspense of the 1st movies since WE know the deal....>>>LOL!
My only concern is the crew seem very young and shiny. I love the original (which I also watched in the 90s) because it had a certain grit not seen in Sci-Fi before and the crew reflected this in their age and general health, which made it relatable and believable. There does seem to be a return to form with the atmosphere and sounds of the original coming through, which will hopefully deliver on the nostalgia of the original that made it so successful.
Right? I personally hate "teenager" movies but classifying this as a "made for teens" movie is disingenuous and lowbrow. Ironic seeing as most of the hate comes from Millennials and Zoomers 😂
Like piloting a yaught or a ferry etc in this world, not silly, but fraught with the possibility of mishap. It's like broke British youths trying to steal a ferry. Actually a nice idea for a movie.
What is this, aliens versus romper room. Are these producers sure kids is all that watch these alien movies. Well I was 21 when alien came out in '79, now I'm 65 all these years later. Ohh well, I will probably still watch it though. The xenomorphs just don't go away. Laurence Fishburne does a lot of sci fi.

@@josebro352 the mid 90s are generally considered the upper limit, putting the youngest at about 30 now. It looks like the leads of this film are mostly late 90s, and so are generally considered old Gen Z'ers. When I made the comment, though, I thought they were even younger. Anyhoo, the majority of millennials were 80s babies. I'm a 40 year old millennial.

So many of the comments here about the cast (age 22-32 excluding Ian Holme) being "too young", are basically acquiescing in the concept of extended adolescence and "the vanishing American adult", which crept in during the lifetime of us older timers. It's also more of an American thing that anyone else. Let's hope it is rectified by whatever year this movie is set in.
Sorry, but no: - the actors are very young adults (which could open some "sacrificed youth" thematics on the other hand, but i'm not that optimistic) - I guess it matches the targeted demographics, - the monsters are shown waaaaay too much (in the trailers, maybe not that much in the final product), - some parts are shot for shot reenactments of the previous installments (tribute... or dumb fanservice). So, 1979 vibe, not really. But a fun ride/thrill? - that's my only hope. It won't be "Alien: Isolation" but a good rollercaster would be fine by me. I'll be in the crowd's theater.
Probably could have been Alien reborn for a whole new generation if studios actually knew how to do suspense. Literally half the main story points in a trailer that absolutely should be labelled with a spoiler warning. Think I’ll save myself the ticket price and wait for the extended extended trailer to inevitably come out.

Well, unfortunately you can't do much with Aliens. Like zombies or sharks they are stupid mindless killing creatures without any interesting character arc or plot twists. So all you will get is people running around screaming until they get killed or the aliens are blown out of the airlock again. Rinse, leather, repeat.

@@vindobonaification definitely harder to push cool ideas with aliens but its doable. l'll throw few ideas right now: Trilogy on homeworld of engineers, showcasing their entire planet, technologies, society and how they fucked it all up. Next trilogy for alien homeworld (if they have one?) if they dont right now, just make it. OR if that's not cool enough, starting one trilogy for alien invasion of Earth and decimation of human race would be cool af. There's more cool stuff to explore but I aint writing it, not getting paid to do, lmao
I liked the 1979 Alien. I liked the original Predator and I thought the original Pumpkinhead had potential. However, it's time to put these old franchises out to pasture.
Well, it won't top Deapool/ Wolverine, but nobody expects it to. I think Romulus looks amazing and that Alien nerd Fede packed in all the horror possible to make adults' skin crawl. Super stoked about this version. Saw the original Alien in 1979 with my mother. I was 9. What a great mom! This edition invites me at 54 to re-experience that feeling once again. Hell yeah!!!
Deadpool wasn’t that good but it was entertaining. I would say I probably won’t watch Deadpool over and over but if this alien movie is good I’ll be watching all the time
Young people to make it relevant, over sharing the movie with extended trailers because this gen doesn't have the capacity to anticipate and must have everything before it's released and poor Ridley Scott forced to produce under this day and age. I'm a huge fan of the original Aliens and predator movies. BUT I don't believe unless David eradicates the young gen mindset we'll ever see another good Alien movie again.
What really detracts from this film are the characters who are "too" young. The director's choice was made because the audience who will see the film will be mostly young and this is absolutely not true. The fans are older and have been following the franchise since 1979.
What it may lack in story depth, writing, character depth and believability, acting ability, originality, or plot is more than made up for by the return of everyone's favorite franchise.
It's 20 somethings playing younger. Their parents are dead and their indentured servitude is being unilaterally extended by Weyland,-Yatoni. It definitely has a young adult feel even though their ages are never mentioned.
I saw it and give it a solid 3 out of 5. the movie is really dark for many viewers. If I watch science fiction I want to see the special effects. It does have non stop action for those who can see it. I love all of the alien movies due to the characters, the suspense and the story line. Romulus was significantly missing in the story and characters. Reminded me why I don’t like 80s teen slasher movies. The one monster stood out though. That was a good scene.
The guy who made the new and well received Evil Dead movies, bringing it back to actual horror. He's well known for staying close to source material and delivering. fingers crossed for this one.
Although the way he says "fuckin" sounds more northern. Must be the actor from Leicester, not the other English lad who is from Kingston Upon Thames...
its set between alien and aliens on another colony planet and the kids want to leave so they go to the abandoned space station in search of something that could get them enough money to leave to a better place
Did I just see a face hugger trip a full grown man in less than one foot of water? HOW??? You can throw them off your face... but it can easily trip a 180lb+ guy. This movie is going to be a barn burner on release. I can feel it already.
I just watched this movie in New Zealand, the film quality was nothing like what is shown in any of the previews. It felt like I was watching something someone recorded on their cellphone and plugged it into the projector (sound quality was awesome, just the picture was absolutely terrible). I paid good money and got the Wish/Temu version instead of what was advertised in all the previews… not happy at all. Totally ruined the movie for me.

that's because actors / musicians / famous people were in the limelight for having a talent. Now you are an actor / musician / famous if you look good......and that's your only trait. Notice how normal actors used to look. Balding lead characters, un-made up female leads etc

Young actors cost less money and Promethius was the last best Alien movie. They screwed up when they killed off Shaw, in the sequel Alien Covenant which sucked!
How many times they have tried to get rid of the alien Xenomorph, starting from the first movie, thrown into the space, it still keeps coming back like crazy. Am i missing something? How this creature can come back over and over again. 😂😂😂
Well it definitely looks like they checked all the diversity boxes. Strong female lead, Asian person, black person, Hispanic person, white guy(who will end up being the bad guy but will get killed by an alien), and I guarantee a gay or bisexual person.
If you Loved the 1th 3 movies this Movie is SO GOOD!!! 💯 80’ Horror Vibes, the pictures are great and the young actors were phenomenal! It was so worth it watching it in theatre, Don’t listen to the haters and go judge yourself 😉
