You'd almost excuse it as "because scary", but they did Saw in review. So why not Alien in review?

We need an In Review that includes the Alien, Predator, AvP, and Blade Runner movies. You can even include Soldier.

Absolutely loved this movie. At times it steers too far in to nostalgia-porn territory, but it ties in some extremely unexpected elements from other movies in the series, and also bring in some very welcome elements from William Gibson's abandoned Alien 3 script. It's all handled extremely well and with great care. Fantastic movie.

gonna nerd out a bit here. ALIEN is in my top 5 movies of all time, and ALIEN: ISOLATION is in my top 5 games, so this movie exceeded all my expectations. saw it twice this week already and can say it's now in between ALIEN & ALIENS as my top 3 in the series. Fede is a superfan of the films and the games & books, and it shows in every scene - it even features elements like the Emergency Phone save-points carefully placed in the environment of each scene right before certain "stressful" events unfold, just like on the Sevastapol station in ALIEN: ISOLATION. From the art design, set design, creature FX & puppeteers, modelmakers & CG artists, to the cinematography, lighting, film score and sound design, they all put in the work to make it look authentic to the timeline of the original ALIEN and ALIENS films, while crafting a fresh take on well-worn tropes for the series and expanding on the lore, yet stayed true to what makes the first two movies timeless classics. special shout out to the young folks in the ensemble cast. they all played their roles so well considering the massive shoes they had to fill,yet they made for a believeable, down-to-earth and slightly dysfunctional family, which i was not expecting, as well as a surprise or two i won't dare to spoil here. my only negative was they coulda dialed back on one or two dialogue callbacks to previous films, though one or two felt quite fitting, and one particular shot near the end i wish was framed in a more menacing, less goofy angle, but those are the most minor of nitpicks. i can't wait to go see it again next week. 10/10 for me.

Just back from the movie and have to say this --- No Spoilers. Three days ago I was reading that people are getting attached and having feelings for their A.I. companions. Rains relationship towards Andy is a real thing and hits different knowing how people are treating their A.I Today. Edit, I loved it 9 out of 10!

Also Firefly show is in the Alien universe. PILOT during the initial Civil War battles the stationary drone guns are very similar to the ones in the directors cut of Aliens. Also if you look close several of the equipment bare he Weylnd Yutani logo. 20th fox property s well. Also I believe Joss whedon did confirm the show is I'm universe but many years before the Nostromo incident. Weirder is the Superhero comic Stormwatch out of Image The last issues of the book were the team being wiped out by the Aliens. No one saw that coming. Considering the Aliens IP was still with Dark Horse comics

I can’t do scary movies, but something in me wanted to watch Alien. I saw Alien and Aliens and love those films. I own them on 4K. I’m kind of interested in this movie, but i know i wouldn’t be able to handle it in theaters. I’ll gladly watch it when it comes to streaming though.

I somehow liked it’s more than Dune Part 2. My favorite movie of 2024. Felt just like watching Aliens for the first time.

I was lucky enough to catch a preview screening of this and absolutely loved it! It was a 9 for me walking out of the theatre. The way it brought the best of the franchise together for what felt like a perfect "soft reboot" was incredible. Tonally a seamless transition from Alien to Aliens too. You talked enough about the visuals and production design, but that stuff combined with the world building on the colony and the station, makes me really hope they make a Disney+ series in this universe...

Not hating on the movie, actually loved it. But the end was not so original. He just needs to see Alien Resurrection. It was better but still very much that again.

It's 6:18 on a Sunday, I'm driving to the theater to see it now!!

How did they miss Cailee in Pacific Rim Uprising? I saw that but have not seen Civil War or Priscilla. Anyway, Cailee's credits will keep growing. Plenty more chances to see a star.

I can’t trust people who thought this was potentially a 10/10. I agree it was pretty. I liked the acting too mostly. But apart from that I thought it was pretty mediocre. 6/10.

Just saw it. What a ride! Definitely some cheese that you have to get around. But for me it was worth it for the payoffs.

Really enjoyed it. Personally wished it was a little scarier but it was a fun ride. 8/10

It was awesome. Performances from the cast were all pretty good. I thought the actor who played Andy was great.

Guess I'mma have to see it. The xenomorph is probably my favorite movie monster. Good to hear this has turned out well. I have such blistering hate for Prometheus and Covenant so this is welcome.

Considering a 10/10 for this? A “near perfect movie?” I think this will be my last time on this channel for a review. To each their own, though.

I honestly had no clue this movie was coming out and never saw any trailers, so I got to go in completely blind which made things even better for me. Saw it in IMAX and holy shit what an experience! And no spoilers here, but that A:I inspiration was so apparent in the best way. Also hats off to the design team because my god the sets were incredible!

How does anyone who loves movies NOT have already watched ALIEN?

Do you think, especially with the cool VHS remix trailers, would it be cool if they released this again in that VHS version?

First time I think my opinion was very different from the team. Super underwhelmed. I'll try it again, maybe on another viewing I'll feel different. Not even comparing it to the previous movies which I am a fan of. 6 of 10.

I really liked Alien Romulus a lot there is one problem near the end otherwise it's BladeRunner 2049 meets thriller if not horror 🎉🎉🎉

I just watched this movie it was great

Seems like a lot of people who loved Promethues and Covenant (myself) aren't loving this as much as those who really thought those entries were misfires. The movie covers a lot of ground from the previous movies and this is the first movie in the series to use memberberries for the franchise which seems to have become a staple with Disney. I like some of the "new" ideas at play which feel like continuations from the previous movies and I loved the ending, but the CG recreations is awful and the absurd amount of time the movie dedicates to this inclusion was frankly appalling.

Movie was a 9.8 maybe 9.9. Only one thing took me out of it but it was a brief moment

Not going to lie the last trailer you guys watched for this killed any excitement I had for it. Showed way too much for me to want to see it. Edit: saw it based on this discussion. It does so much right and awesome until it falls the fuck apart in the last act. A decent nod to the first two movies until it just gets crushed by the weight of the entire franchise. I’m so disappointed in the final act. That said - amazing performances by David Johnson and Cailee Spaeny. Cailee would be a fucking awesome Ellie.

They are using a CGI Ripley, aren't they? People at Disney could not help themselves and used some deep fake and made a young Ripley, and it looked awful. Fuck!
