This is complaining about something you haven't even seen yet. You want something original but also something like the first two movies you've seen before.

Looks like a rehash of tropes and set pieces from Alien and Aliens without any understanding what made those movies great, namely, the characters.

Yes! Thank you - the age of the cast bugs me too. They LOOK like teens, which immediately triggers alarm bells for me because it suggests who the target market is (young people). It’s set between Alien and aliens but doesn’t really connect to either? Damn - if anything, I was hoping they’d restart from after Aliens and have a salvage ship rescue Ripley, Newt and Hicks’ escape pod only to discover it has an egg on it with all 3 dead from some kind of technical issue, the facehugger latches on to a rescuer and then you got Alien loose on a ship-horror all over again (= yay), but the young looking cast really concerns me.

The Original Alien Trailer gave nothing away, This trailer just gave it all away the fear factor is out the window. I can't see this being any good, but I'm hoping I'm wrong

People thinking that the cast look young, doesn't change them being in their early 20s to early 30s. If they look young its probably because they take care of their bodies, like adults should. I'll judge them on their acting alone. The tropes in the trailer are clearly marketing hooks to pull in audiences using nostalgia and get the fanbase theorising online, which is rife at the moment, so mission accomplished Marketing Team. If the acting is bad, the character are vapid and the story is by the numbers with no surprises, then I'll be judge the movie on that. Until then, I'm hyped and ready to love this franchise again (don't break my heart Àlvarez...)

Everything depends on if Fede manage to do what Scott and Cameron did - create great believable characters with realistic dialogue and a story that is intriguing.

As far as what I think? The cast gives friday the 13th teenage slasher vibes like tik tokers aboard a serious space vessel that requires their officers to have grad school education and some level of decorum but not sensing that. For example Ripley and the captain clearly had some level of seriousness and quality about them. Like they have been vetted to operate a trillion dollar space craft (or 46 million not including the payload for Aliens fans). The cast of Alien and Aliens was pretty studded they weren’t banking on hot teen heart throbs like the last Alien movie which imo was garbagio. The way the guy says “wah-ah” is an overused trope of a cockney accent which is equivalent to talking ghetto in the 90’s pretty much made famous by Snatch. That worries me too. Just weird stuff like that irks me and tells me it’s not a serious movie like Alien or Aliens.

The trailer looks good. I have high hopes for this. It can't be worse than the shit we've been fed since Michael Wincott dies in Resurrection. It maybe a little "safe" and the characters may be young a stupid but as long as it's grounded in realism, the whole thing is believable and it doesn't resort to jump scare after jump scare I think we're onto something good here. P.S. the repetitive crunching sound was disappointing on first viewing, because like you said, every single horror trailer does this kind of thing now, but it then became the most memorable part of the trailer once the source of the sound was revealed.

Totally agree in the lack of originality - for it to have any effect as a horror movie there have got to be some surprises. The trailer looks almost like the movie was written by an AI, piecing together bits from the original trilogy. The space station setting was done in the computer game Alien Isolation and they could have just copied that storyline. How about setting it on the aliens homeworld with some alien types we've not seen before? That was an idea floated for Alien 3, although I guess Ridley Scott messed that up with hiis prequals changing the origin of the alien into a man made mutation.

The previous teaser trailer was better. It relied more on sound & kept things mysterious. This new trailer is less subtle & IMO it suffers for it. Not only does it pile on the kind of "homages" we need to see less of in modern films, but it also shows us the certain deaths of at least 2 characters. I hope they're well written enough for us to care when they die because the trailer treats them as disposable. The vibe I am getting from this is not unlike 2010's Predators. A film which looked great & had some genuinely great ideas. But in the end the experience was ruined by far too many "homages" & an over-reliance on tropes which were fine decades ago, but today are old hat! On a positive note, the cinematography is gorgeous & the sets are REAL for once!

The original movie was also labelled a horror film. But I expect very little from these hyperbolic gossip channels

*Reason to be worried number one:* It's a movie in the Alien franchise that isn't Alien, Aliens or Alien3.

Interesting thoughts. For me the buildings look more like the terraforming atmosphere processing stations from Aliens. Latest gossip suggests it has received the dreaded ‘R’ rating from the MPAA for bloody violence and gore. Hope it’s not blood and guts over style and story. On this evidence my hopes aren’t too high. 🤔

PREY was fantastic and more importantly, much needed in the genre.

What is expectations???? After the last 2 lackluster films...I had not expected anything. This Geekdom gang is getting so counter productive. You should just be happy that someone took an interest in the franchise. All this faux critique crap is going to ruin the franchise business all together. Just...buy or don't buy your ticket and move on. It's really a moot point...what you believe.!......the movie is in the can. By the by...love the channel...shows grit!!

Alien and Aliens are the two movies that most people could watch on repeat. Alien 3 had a great premise but by killing off Newt and Hicks seemed like a cheap shot. I enjoyed Alien 4 a lot. Thought the cast was great and the story was interesting enough. Alien vs Predator was actually really entertaining. Alien Requiem could have been great but was awful to watch, very dark, I mean physically dark. Prometheus was okay, Covenant was annoying. This new one, i'm not sure. Teenagers vs Alien, not my cup of tea. Yes, there will be aliens, yes there will be chest bursts and face huggers, but unless the story has something amazing to offer then it's just teenagers in space, running around pretending to be adults. I'm not optimistic that we'll see another Ellen Ripley.

Sir, this is EXACTLY the thought I had while watching the trailer... Actually... let´s go backwards... even when I read for the first time who the casting was, I saw only young people. Not good... At least not for Alien. Your video sums up my thoughts too. + it will have this direct / indirect female empowerment message (male bad stupid incompetent / female great leader, smart, unbeatable). I am tired of this, and I was really looking forward to the new Alien. I am ready to be angry and disappointed.

first 2 were awesome Third like you, i thought was still good too 4th - utter garbage and pretty much all after too. Even Prometheus for the reason it was so complicated to understand the film and all i wanted to do was relax and watch a film to unwind. Been waiting for a film to finally come out that goes back to what started it all in the beginning. And this could be it. I am looking at it as a remake mix of the original films so am expecting lots of things to copy over, which it looks like it has from the trailer, but an updated modern version of films in my top ten. That cockney accent has given me a bad feel though and hoping it does not piss me off too much as i watch it. Fingers crossed, its 70% at least as good as the originals do so will still be good to watch

Alien and Blade Runner are in the same universe, Tyrell & Weyland-Yutani are competing arms and bio weapons equipment manufacturers. There are hints in the original movies. Alien was a scary horror flick because HR Giger designed the Alien and the movie kept the Alien obscured for most of the movie. Aliens introduced the collective behavior and queen. Making it the best Sequel made next to Terminator 2. Alien 3 was a lazy attempt at a money grab and failed. Aliens Resurrection was a fun movie but not worth including as part of Aliens really. You can no longer reproduce the scary thrill of the first two. So what does that leave us with? Garbage sequels and prequels. The reboots all sucked. Covenant and all of the Aliens vs Predator movies are terrible. Same old recipe with computer graphics. Prey was alright. It had your typical tiny girl winning out but to be fair, despite the movies flaws, the character won using brains. Tricking the Predator. So that movie was good for what it was but not a breakthrough. So now we have Romulus. Well I can say this. I would not expect anything new. It's going to be a repeat with computer graphics. Unless they get a great music score and sound affects then use some real life sets, it will flop. What made Alien(s) so good was HR Gigers Alien was not computer generated. They had actors in costumes with these things. The reactions were genuine from the cast because even knowing they are costumes, they look scary as hell. I do also hate when they try to make super young characters over the top wise for their age. We have early 20yr olds eating Tide Pods these days. No way they are mature enough to handle an emergency. It's obvious it's an attempt to get a younger audience involved so they can later sell video games and merch. But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it will turn out good and the trailer is just due to unfinished production.

This trailer made me feel nothing. Movie looks great visually, but it doesn't offer anything new. I also don't like the cast, they don't look like they're part of the same universe as characters from previous movies, they look like contemporary rich beautiful kids, and way out of their element.

The crew of the nostromo were picked for their merit as actors they were at the right age to believe they could do the job they were trained for, no handsome fancy stars just regular people same with aliens, this new alien film looks like some tik tok 20 somethings still at uni, its disney star wars people, generic actors picked because they tick boxes, its about time we had a man leading the alien universe, perfect organism always bested by 100 pound women
