Alien Romulus is out and marks the ninth entry into the Alien franchise. At over 40 years old, this is one of the longest running franchises in cinema history. It delves into a subgenre of horror known as cosmic horror, originally created by author HP Lovecraft. Over the years, the world building, plot, and lore have evolved to include the Predator franchise which on screen was… well… not great. In 2012, the series took a hard turn away from its Lovecraftian roots with the prequel film Prometheus which has divided long time fans. But did Alien Romulus fix what went wrong with the series since the release of Prometheus? And what about the lore changes made fans hate these films so much? Join me Dear Viewer, as I dive back into the raging dumpster fire that is modern Hollywood!

Sorry, but Prometheus is a good movie. I totally understand not liking the exploration of that whole mythology/engineer aspect of it as that makes the movie less of a horror which was Alien or less of an action film than Aliens. But by itself it is very competent and has only a few issues. And I am also a long time fan of the franchise and I like Prometheus. I don’t think there are some other “long time fans” who have more authority to hate Prometheus. Those of us who liked it have as much valid reason to love it. I think trying to not upset the fans is a very wrong path to take. It leads to fan service and callbacks which made a number of people hate the new Star Wars and why they disliked the callbacks in Romulus. Additionally, it is not correct to assume that the engineers take away the mystical origins of unknowable horror. There is no indication that engineers are THE ones who created the xenomorph and humans. Humans yes, but no indication they created the xenomorphs. In fact Prometheus shows that Emgineers themselves are fallible and mortal beings who are subject to the same unknowable cosmic horror. So if anything, it leads to the perspective that even the creators are created and are afraid of death in the end. Which is why we see the ancient recording show panicking engineers run in panic that they even kill one of their own with the door. Then we see how vulnerable to emotion the surviving engineer was who flipped out and struggled and failed against a creature. So, I think this bashing of Prometheus is somewhat dishonest and simply unfair.

At this point, the only way they can redeem the franchise is by doing that direct Aliens sequel, ignoring everything that's been made after. Bring back Newt and Hicks. Show Ripley fighting with them as a family, finally.

Yeah I absolutely agree. Get back to Lovecraft and stop trying to explain everything. Some things are unknowable

Hello Mr. Off The Cover, I 100% agree with you in this video. What the heck was Disney Fox thinking? Instead of bringing back Neill Blomkamp to make and direct Alien 5 reboot (a direct sequel to James Cameron's Aliens and ignoring all alien films that came after the second film, bringing back Newt and Hicks and Ripley) but was rejected to focus on the prequels which we all know how it turned out This cancelled alien reboot film could have saved this franchise but no, they chose Fede Alvarez to make this alien romulus abominations. Neill Blomkamp's cancelled Alien 5 reboot. It's very good ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mskxKtU0ZHQ.htmlsi=QepLNjysUjWXLmjJ

@@OffTheCover ok. i will do. did you watch the link. i hope alien romulus fails at the box office and hopefully disney-fox(i still don't trust disney after they ruined star wars, indian jones and mcu till ryan reynolds destroyed it and made deadpool and wolverine successful) brings in neill blomkamp and smart intelligent writers

I hated this movie I had a bad feeling about it since the trailers and storyline and I was right Believe or not, I asked someone who is a alien fan but hates alien 3, prequels and this movie. He has a theory of how they extract xenomorphs DNA & able to clone. Here it is below and it's up to you to decide In the Aliens film series, particularly in Alien: Resurrection (1997), the process of extracting DNA or cloning Xenomorphs is addressed with a few key explanations: Advanced Technology: The cloning and genetic manipulation processes in the Alien series are facilitated by highly advanced technology. The futuristic science depicted allows for sophisticated manipulation of biological material, even those with extreme properties like the Xenomorph’s acidic blood. Controlled Environments: In Alien: Resurrection, the cloning of Xenomorphs is conducted in a highly controlled laboratory environment. The scientists in the film manage to handle the alien DNA and blood using advanced containment systems and protective measures designed to deal with the corrosive properties of Xenomorph blood. Biological Engineering: The film suggests that the cloning process involves extensive biological engineering. Scientists likely use techniques that neutralize or mitigate the effects of the acid blood during the cloning and DNA extraction processes. Extraction Methods: The specifics of how the scientists manage to extract and handle Xenomorph DNA are not exhaustively detailed in the film, but it is implied that their technology and procedures are sophisticated enough to handle the challenges presented by the Xenomorph's biology. Overall, while the films do not provide detailed scientific explanations, they rely on the premise that futuristic technology and advanced containment systems can manage and overcome the challenges posed by the Xenomorph’s acid blood. Do you agree or disagree?
