Ha! I run quite a bit. If you deploy motion trackers regularly you can see what's coming towards you and move appropriately. I often run away to create some space or get to cover. But yeah, don't run all the time is good advice.
No way. Just set up trackers. The slower you move the more time consuming and the more likely to run into more aliens. If you keep an eye on your map you can avoid allot of aliens. I just started the other day and I'm not having much difficulty avoiding fights.
Grub a note for the shelter hint at the 7min mark.. if you are welding and an alien is passing by you will be detected and it will start breaking the weld
ive been eyeing this game since before its release and ive been monitoring it since release and ive been torn to buy it or not despite knowing how difficult it was said to be. It was on sale two days ago so i couldnt resist anymore. I played alien isolation...and the stress and fear that game invoked within me was serious anxiety lol. I played isolation for 5 hours...couldnt handle its fear/anxiety factor and put it down for a year....i finally mustered the courage to go back and at least finish it a year later so i could check it off my list....and now that anxiety is back with this game. I only have like an hour or two of game play and im still on the first mission and every single second of this game nails the aliens atmosphere and asthetic PERFECTLY. This game has already started eating at my soul ever inch...around every corner...right before going into every single room..especially with that iconic BEEP BEEP.....BEEP BEEP of the motion tracker. The tutorial when your controlling one single character trying to survive...i thought that was the worst of the nerve wracking/anxiety the game would give...i figured with a squad of heavily armed marines the real anxiety and stress it gives you would be gone or at least lessened....but its even worse and yet I CANNOT....STOP....PLAYING. Deep down inside i must have myself lol. I have one piece of advice as a brand new player do not let the fear and danger halt your decision making. If you ever played isolation and the game got into your head you ended up stuck in one locker for what seems forever waiting for your demise to come to you...this game is subject to that same effect!

Isolation was a wonderful game and the only game that has ever actualliy given me a nightmare after playing it! I played that game in the dark with a top pair of headphones on and I still remember how hard my heart was pumping throughout. I still clearly remember my first locker experience. Low on ammo, I knew the Alien was near, so I got in a locker to hide. I heard the alien thud into the room and after a short time, come right up to the door. I could see him through the vents. He snorted and then... BAM! He tore open the locker and me too! It was 'Game over man! Game over!' Such a great game. Back to ADD. It's another wonderful game and I still feel it hasn't got the number of players it deserves. Yes it's hard, but once you know what you're doing it's brilliant. I really enjoyed the story and the challenge. I hope the dev will do a follow-up. I will certainly play it.
I look at your game. And I look at my game. My game is dark. your game can see everything. I then wonder if im doing it wrong, or just really enjoy the aliens jumping out at me.
Hmm sounds like your TV settings may be too dark. Wasn't there a gamma set up at the start of the game? Have a look at settings and see if you can adjust it?
I bought the game a few days ago. I disabled the death clock and kept everything else at medium. Originally i turned Pause Game on, before i even started playing. Without going into too much detail i tried slow-mo later on and it was tremendous. The game is fast paced and for someone like myself it was literally a game changer. You don't have to actually use skills. It definitely helps. Just the fact that it all slows down and you have a little more time to make decisions is amazing.

Finally a beginners’ tips video that understands what a beginner needs! I’ve been through countless videos supposedly targeted at beginners that simply end up making the game even more overwhelming and confusing. It’s particularly good to see examples of gameplay alongside your descriptions. I’m still looking for a video that helps with the off-planet gameplay, and maybe one that goes through each of the on-planet HUD elements… but this video is a great start.

I’ve been checking out a few of Grubmagnets vids on A:DD, been playing game since day one and decided to start a new game from medium to easy about half way into the game. I finally see the importance of using sniper to go in stealthy which prevents the marines gaining any stress at all. Also restarted due to the fact I believe there’s a mission where final boss fight (massive horde actually) prevents you to returning to the area and I missed a datapad and I didn’t know the death clock was a thing Annoyingly there’s hardly any guides online or details maps for the game at the moment but enjoying the game so far
Thanks for the comment. It's a very taxing game to understand. This said, I really enjoyed learning how to play it and managing to complete it. I think it's the hardest game I've ever played. The death clock is no problem. The fact that they don’t tell you about it right from the get go isn’t ideal. Also I got stuck having to advance the day without being able to deploy my physicians on my first day because of tutorial limitations. I’ll add that these are minor points though and so far it’s incredible.
Thanks for sharing. I think the big problem with the game is the amount of stuff it throws at you at first is overwhelming. And not being able to turn off the Death Clock part way through a campaign than can take 20-30 hours is damn annoying. Fine, take away the trophy award if you don't hit the death clock, but at least give players the option to continue. This all said, it's still a brilliant game and one I very much enjoyed playing. I'm glad you do too!
@@GrubMagnet nice videos btw. It might be a minority opinion, but thought the game tutorials were quite good. It is a lot to take in though especially if you are only on slowdown and not pause mode. Some things they don’t explain though: Like how am I supposed to know if I want the reanimator kit if I don’t know what a coma entails? I also think the reload button should be a double tap because it’s easy to bump it and waste 4 ammo. I didn’t know I couldn’t use the elevator without losing my followers in the arcs, so I wasted a deployment just to ensure their incorporation to the Otego. Also the Dpad doesn’t work for the arc options and makes the camera move somewhere else. Little things like that, but I love the difficulty and the frantic-ness of it all.

Out of the many useful tips in this video I have to admit that I underestimated the tactical value of the deployable motion tracker...it gives you an edge and some higher chances against runners and pretorians running trough the level, expands your squads telemetrics and IFF capacities...

I always grab pouches first on all marines the extra tools and med kits have saved my marines so many times also always have at least 2 sentry turrets, mistakes i have seen many make is not using suppressive fire(always have at least 1 Gunner+M56 SmartGun with high impact rounds too increase slow) or use tactical analysis(pouches makes it even better) to regain command points as well as not resting when needed. also rotate 2 squads while the rest train, BIG TIP: rest before extraction to create a save this will allow you to reset promotions for common skills to randomize if your trying to get Redemption and Unbreakable Will .
@@GrubMagnet another 3 great tips. Download mods that 1) sets timer to 999 days and restores it after every sortie 2) welding now costs command points and not tools 3) marines stress gain is reduced. P.S: now you can enjoy the game fully

It's the hardest game I've ever played because of the initial learning curve. It takes quite some hours to work through and understand. Its Ok I made a character out custom and called her Sigourney, she looks bit like an ugly sister to Sigourney with all the pixelations but since I renamed her Facehugger its been ok
Thanks for sharing. Clock off wasn't an option on launch. The other thing is if you adjust the settings in a mode, you won't win the trophy for that mode on completion as far as I know.
It's just had a patch which I hope improves things. I managed to play through mostly OK. But on some platforms it seems more dicey. A shame, because I think it's a really interesting game with a good story.
I just.moved the marines normally alien hunts for us however I had to reload the game because one marine just ran from his squad. This is a bug. This is the first game that I play with this much bugs
This tutorial assumes that your marines aren't immediately destroyed in every onslaught. This game is the definition of anti-fun, impossible to even roll past three hours of play.

Ugh. Why did I buy this game? I hate games with forced time limits. I had no idea this was one of those games. And the tutorial mentioned nothing about that.
There's a bit of pressure in game, but it's actually a really fun and challenging game. If you want to ease the pressure start a new game and turn off the death clock. Have a look at my tutorials. I covered quite a bit that should help.
@@GrubMagnetit's challenging for sure but fun or good I definitely wouldn't call it. It's more of a squad stealth game than it is a squad tactics game but the stealth aspects are just very underbaked. There's lack of mechanics for stealth all around, even basic things like throw an item to distract alien. Your squad is always grouped together as a single unit so you can't even move individual people into positions of your choosing to perform different roles or tasks. Then there's the map function that doesn't pause the game. Most areas are corridors and rooms with one or two passage so you need to navigate around walls constantly and since the game is so visually dark, it's hard to see where the passage is without checking on map and memorizing it. Then there's the aliens which spawn indefinitely over some time period and aggressiveness to discourage engagements and encourage stealth even more. I'm honestly astonished by the constant counterintuitive game design here. What prompted me to play this was how many people called it real-time Xcom-like. As a big fan of Xcom, that got me but after playing it for roughly 6 hrs, I can say that's definitely far from being true. It's more of a Desparados 3 in Aliens theme with worse mechanics. Very disappointed by this game.
I'm an absolute noob with this game and I'm in the tutorial and the game wants me to Run my character to her office by pressing the Right Mouse button and it does not work for me. What the heck am I missing?
Ha my game ended with 12days left on my death clock due to a bug on mission 10 reach the upper floor objective not registering 😂😂😂I cannot advance any more even tho I have 100% on mission 10.
I have the exact same issue, "Reach the upper levels" on level 10 cannot clear as complete and due to the autosave feature there are NO autosaves before the bug. Really kind of sucks.
