I always see people talk about how they turned the brightness up and they still cant see, i found that turning up the backlight works way better than turning up brightness because brightness is more of a white shadow over the screen
I mean them thinking several times that the Predalien had any chance of having some sort of Predator code or wondering why it was in league with the aliens is up there too. Lol as if they didn't have an entire series of movies showing whatever a facehugger impregnates it takes on characteristics of the host but is still a xenomorph.
So do I think the movie is good? Not really. However, Wolf (the Predator in this) is definitely up there as my favorite Predator in any of the movies. There's honestly a version of this movie where he is the central protagonist and that really could've worked. You can argue he is the protagonist cause I don't care about the humans here
It's absolutely insane that they were unable to put together that Kelly was the military momma... i guess that's what happens when you don't pay attention! 🤗
@@pablom-f8762 that’s beyond a BS excuse for just not paying attention to what you’re watching. They can’t remember plot details from things when they’re currently watching it, that’s got nothing to do with how many movies they watch a week, and everything to do with being more concerned with performing for the camera instead of paying attention to dialogue
Interesting lore bits about this movie! 1. This Predator is named Wolf, and he's the first on screen Elite Predator we've seen in action (hence why he was able to fight so many other Aliens at once) 2. The reason Wolf is even there, is because he's an Enforcer. A Predator who's trusted enough in skill to be dispatched alone to clean up evidence and stop things like the Predalien. 3. The Predalien is considered something akin to a cultural blasphemy by the Predators hence why Wolf left immediately once he saw it.
@@jaynguin Wolf got his name from “The Wolf” in Quinton Tarantinos movie Pulp Fiction. Hes a “cleaner” there to make sure no evidence of the events survives.
The notion that a Predalien could implant Xenomorph embryos feels like a bit of Alien/Predator mythology that could have been explored if this movie had been interested in that.
loved wolf concept is so much bigger than the movie would let they really could almost make a silent film of a pred out surviving like how they did prey but have the predator as the actual protagonist the star of the movie
@@jaybling6687 According to the Making Of stuff, the brothers wanted Chet to be at a lifecycle stage where she's not yet a full grown queen. So, she can't yet actually lay eggs. Presumably, if she'd been allowed ot fully mature, she would lose the ability to vomit embryos when she gained the ability to properly lay eggs. This sort of makes a logical sense, so that a hive can begin to form from a single individual. Queens need servants, and the ability fills that gap.
It won't help, because whatever they did basically replicates overexposed film. All you'd end up being able to do is turn a lot of blackness to grayness.
This movie is justifiably criticized as being a bad movie and you guys do have a lot of valid criticisms. But complaining about not knowing what allegiance the Predalien has after watching EVERY Alien movie is the dumbest criticism for any movie I think I've ever heard. Why would the Predalien have an allegiance with anything other than the xenomorphs themselves...If that was the case than any of the drone/warrior xenos would side with Marines because they were chestbursted from humans like c'mon now..."What is it's motivation why is it doing what it's doing?" to wipe out other lifeforms and expand the hive with host creatures until there's nothing left. That's what the Xenos motivations have always been.
Kelly, was the fricken Mom/Military person. The dude literally says, "Unless you can fly, stfu." He said it pretty loud. LOL. Also, the Predator was the main character here. Not the humans. I thought that was kind of obvious, personally.
They rightly criticized lots of aspects of this film, but damn...they weren't paying much attention. How did they not understand that the point to protect Kelly was that she is the helicopter pilot? They also missed the reason they were going to the hospital was that the emergency helicopter was there.
@@MegaSting1981 After a certain point you think they should lighten their watch load so they can focus better. But a few of them seem to forget watching instantly. 😆
The plot is Alien vs Predator. Alien got loose and a Predator is dispatched to kill the Aliens. All the humans are just side characters. That's the plot. Kelly is the only person that can fly the chopper. That's why 'protect Kelly at all costs'. It's pretty self-explanatory.
@annakmeneses my expectations were so low because the franchise hasn't put out the best movies in recent years but it ended up becoming my second favorite. Very immersive.
The predator in AVP2 is the strongest and highest ranked predator throughout the whole movie franchise so far. Although in predator universe there are higher ranks, but movie wise this is the most skillful and senior main character already. The predators in “Predator” and “Predator 2” were only “hunter” level. This predator was “elite” level. While those predators in “AVP” were only undergraduates, without any ranking yet😂 FYI, there are many classes in predator and alien hierarchy systems. The lore is huge and rich for both universe. However, Hollywood continuously and consistently failed to refer to the source material to make this Alien and Predator franchise epic.
I am not sure how you can say there isn’t a plot. It isn’t super complicated or anything but it is there. Yes there are lot of characters that start out separate but they come together by the driving form of the two sides of the alien conflict
Its hard to take you guys seriously as reactors when you are obviously not paying attention to the movie, the situation with military momma Kelly being the most missed plot point is the perfect example.
@@victorsos100 yeah honestly im done with they're reactions to these franchise, its ok to not like the movies but to judge it this heavily without even paying attention to a single thing in it is kinda crazy
Kelly can fly the chopper, that's why protecting her was a priority...they literally said this when they said to protect her. The Predalien, we're never gonna make Predamorph into a thing, as Predalien is the already established term and Predamorph doesn't sound as good...has no Predator allegiance. Xenomorphs don't take on psychological traits of the host's DNA, they take on the physical traits of the host's DNA to constantly evolve into the perfect lifeform. The Predalien is just a Xenomorph with the added strengths of the Yautja (name of the Predator species).
The flashbacks to ancient times in the first AVP movie, I wanna see that. Ancient man worshipping them as gods while they use us as incubators to birth xenomorphs for their great hunts. Not from point of view of a human being during this time, but rather a predator. A young blood who goes through rites of passage. Tested in combat. Sent deep into a temple pyramid complex to hunt xenomorphs, resulting in an outbreak where our focal character and a platoon of predators make a last stand atop the pyramid and sacrifice themselves in a massive blast to contain the outbreak. In depth following and brutal combat showcasing the nature of the Predators, with a horror movie style hunt (people's favourite parts from AVP), escalating into a massive battle where humans are being destroyed, predators are being overwhelmed in honourable last stands, and the whole slate is wiped clean after the blast. Then, for the ending, show the Chief of this predator clan is preparing another young blood on board their ship, watching down from the sky. To showcase that this is just another day at the office for them. And this is just one clan. There are many, probably all over the galaxy, doing this kind of stuff on planets. It's what their species do. Later, I'd like to see predators make an appearance in one of the new alien movies, potentially giving us a showdown between an Engineer and the Predators.
Kelly was the military lady. They said to protect her because she could fly the chopper. So she was a priority to keep safe. Other wise they would not have been able to get out of there.
You see facehuggers in glass tanks like at the start of this in Aliens in Hadley's Hope. Also, just in case you missed it they needed to protect Kelly because she was the only one who could fly the chopper.
Just like with its predecessor, this was loosely adapted from the comics and videogames of the same name. The main predator, "Wolf", is an Elite, which means he's a highly skilled and experienced hunter. The hybrid is called a "predalien", and heavily featured in the games
Been over 20 years and I still haven't finished AvP for PC as the Predator. Still haven't met the Predalien in any games. Only finished the Marine Campaign.
@@nathancullinan5195 I think the combo of that one being bad and then again with this one led me to actually say something. Normally I just try to enjoy but yeah they’ve had a couple recently that are more of a struggle to get through
@@bigomez83 yup its honestly kinda killing the channel for me too, i think from now i just gotta skip these 2, they're fine when they're not together but when together they just dont stfu and listen, they could just pause like other creators but guess thats too much of a mind blowing concept for them to comprehend
@@nathancullinan5195pausing ruins the reaction. IMO. It’s not a great movie to begin with and as a lot of people pointed out it’s way too dark to catch what’s going on. If I can’t understand what’s going on I’m not going to be interested either.
As you’ve already found out during the hospital scene, it has a way to bypass the facehuggers implantation. It specifically targeted women, pregnant women at that because the PredAlien was a young queen and it was trying to quickly establish a hive. And the state it took place in was Colorado.
Well I was hoping yall would watch the Unrated Cut but didn’t, the ship that crashed at the beginning of the movie WAS NOT! the mother ship we see at the end of AVP1. It was leaving pass Jupiter but a smaller scout ship (like the one we see in the first Predator movie) ejects from the bigger one & goes back to earth to make sure no aliens escaped. That same ship that was carrying Scar (the pred that got Predalien) was in that ship. It was a confusing plot hole that was not shown in the theatrical cut, p.s. Wolf (avpr’s pred) finds out about the Predalien when he investigates the crashed scout ship & morons his fallen huntsmen.
They literally said kelly is the only one that can fly the chopper and 2 seconds later they are like its sad we dont know wbo kelly is and say maybe its the little girl. Because yeah a child knows hot to fly a helicopter.
The plot is the aliens are overrunning a town and the predator is trying to contain it. And all the town people are just dealing with the consequences.
Fun fact: This film was shot in light conditions to make sure everything could be seen properly, and was made darker in post production for reasons even the director doesn't understand.
@@takewhataway Exactly. If i made a movie and it was just handed over to someone else for the post-production editing process without verification or clarification from me before a legit release, i'd feel like it's not even my movie. Like why tell a Director they can take on a movie if you can't even make the movie how you envisioned? A good example of editing would be my X-Men TV series i made out of the entire X-Men franchise. Although i love it as is, i've always felt like you can get an entirely different experience from it with some retooling and some skill. And although i'm happy with how it's turning out thus far, i'll never say mine is better or anything like that, as i'm merely a recycling creator of this particular content and i'm appreciative to even have the chance to play around with such content. Feel free to have a gander if you get the chance, dude :)
do you go into a supermarket and find 1 can of beans on the shelf, of course not, so if you go into a surplas store why would you only find 1 lamp. Honestly guys a lot of your criticisms lately have really been missing the mark. It comes across like you are criticising silly little moments just for the sake of it.
Three things, first: Xenomorphs grow to the full size in two hours. Second: The unrated versions show the Predalien somehow got on a smaller Scout Ship that undocks from the Mother Ship's port side and heads back towards Earth. And third: from what I learn about this movie, the Predalien was starting to turn into a Xenomorph Queen near the end.
Always felt that there was too many ideas chucked in to the mix when writing this but no one thought to streamline it in to a more cohesive story. While its not a bad film, it could have been so much better than what we got. Hopefully you will move on to the better film, Predators, next. stay awesome
7:31 Reiko Aylesworth, the actress who plays the army mom, was famous for her role in the TV show "24". The dad (Sam Trammell) I remember him from "True Blood" as the bar owner/werewolf.
I hate this movie, the gore is better but you can't see any of it. At least you could tell what tf was happening In the first film lol, & I recommend Jeepers Creepers 1 & 2.
Considering that the Alien and Predator were fighting like pro wrestlers in the first movie, I would have been fine with turning the brightness down as far as it could go. As faulty as this movie is, at least the aliens and Predator acted in character.
@@MAMoreno definitely the worst Predator movie and one of the worst Alien movies imho, I enjoyed the fights in AVP, this was just too dark for no reason in every sense of the word. At least the horror in Alien and Aliens was with characters we cared about and at least the action in AVP was visible. This has super dark horror with random preggo women and kids we dont care about just for the sake of gore and most of it we can barely see.
@@kevthepoet It wasn't dark for no reason (at least not tonally). From the beginning, Alien has been a psychosexual nightmare about a giant phallic creature that violates human bodies and forces them to die in childbirth after a nonconsensual pregnancy. How is that supposed to be anything but dark?
Sadly one of the darkest (like, visually DARK) movies, but it was good in theatres when I saw it :) Like I said about the first AvP, that was made by Alien fans, this one is made by Predator fans, so went down that vibe (but kinda faltered on the Alien aspects with pacing, etc) I love the Predator being a cleaner in this, and being excited to hunt the hybrid! It was definitely R, as even some bits on the posters were R for Requiem It does thankfully pick up when the military arrive, but takes a bit too long to get there with people we just DON'T care much about The mouth egg thing is just so messed up too XD The "protect Kelly" thing was vague yes with so many, but they did literally spell it out with "unless you can fly, shut up", which was clearly about her. Being mad about "protecting the teenager Kelly" when the teenage is NOT Kelly and they spelled it out, is a bit unfair to it.
I never really liked that one. Sticking the Predators in the jungle again felt utterly uninspired. And yes, it was an alien jungle, but it looked almost exactly like an Earth jungle, so it made little difference. Predator 2, for all of its faults, had it right: you've gotta stick the creature in a new setting each time (and it has to be a _hot_ setting, AVP!).
I think we'd all love to see some Predator movies that focus on Wolf's exploits prior to AVP R. Extended lore is that his scars came from killing a Queen Xenomorph and exterminating her hive by himself. This is a Predator that's old enough to be close to retirement. He's not a young one like all of the other movies. He's closer to the Elders shown in Predator 2 and AVP. The makers of AVP R gave him this name because his job is being a "cleaner" similar to a character named Wolf in another movie. He's widely considered to be the best Predator of the entire Predator franchise, despite being in one of the worst movies. Given that these guys live for thousands of years, and older one like Wolf would have a lot of backstory to draw from, possibly making for its own spinoff franchise. He's blind in his left eye, missing a mandible, and growing old. And he's still far more capable than any of the others in any of the other movies. This guy epitomizes the phrase "beware of an old man in a young man's profession". Kelly's the girl's mom. They want to protect her, because she's the one who knows how to operate the helicopter. Basically, the studio handed the movie over to amateurs, and it shows. This was basically these guys' first movie and it shows. They thought they were being artistic by having the whole thing being physically way too dark. That it would make it spookier feeling. On the good side of things, they did have many of the people who've worked on the other Alien and Predator movies and on AVP doing the practical effects for the Aliens, Chet (the Predalien), and Wolf (Predator). The guy who was in the alien suit outside of the house had to hide behind a rose bush.
One thing I love about this film is the small town setting. It can easily be an alien invasion movie or a movie about demons coming up from below (the sewer) to consume the people. Terrifying!
100% agree. I understand there is lore to the franchise all lost in the darkness of the cinematography. I couldn't tell what was going on to care. Show don't tell. Love going through the journey with you guys.
You protect Kelly at all cost because she's the only one who knows how to fly the helicopter... you make everyone come to the center of town for extermination because it's a containment protocol, being in the military, Kelly understands this, and yes, what the hell were they thinking making this movie so dark you can't see what half the movie. 🤣 ps. Don't think that was a nuclear bomb, probably hydrogen.
Honestly, i don't blame them for not remembering/knowing who Kelly is. With this movie being too dark to see, having characters you don't care about, and damn near no actual plot, i can get how easy it is to check out every now and then while watching it. It's so bad and boring that i couldn't even classify it as a "background movie"
The plot is that a Hunter was sent to Earth to do damage control, but everything just got out of hand, and so the chaos. That's why the movie is scrambling all over the place.
16:10 "I don't know what they're called... Uh, Pred-omorph?" We call it the _Predalien._ The Yautja call it an abomination. 16:36 Why doesn't the Aliens' acid blood affect Yautja? It does, actually. But they know how quickly it neutralises following a Xenomorph's death. The following quote from Bishop in "Aliens" (1986) explains it -- _"The molecular acid oxidises after the creature's death, completely neutralising."_ 19:29 "The head bite provides essential nutrients and chemicals for the Alien..."
It is a movie with great renditions of the Aliens, Predator, and the combo one. That's what we watch it for. Some of the methods of deaths are too much for an overall audience, aside from the main cast and "main" secondary characters. The darkness apparently but it wasn't too terrible; for me.
Yall missed alot of call outs to the originals. The music in the apc, the national guard fighting the aliens and getting whipped out, the mom and little girl like ripley and newt, the guys name being Dallas, after the deputy was skinned asking what could do this to a man etc.
Yautja blood is supposedly phosphorus-based, which is why it glows in the dark. 27:48 I don't know how the Colorado National Guard was able to even take one of those bastards out with just M4s and M16s. In "Aliens" it took 10mm explosive-tipped armour piercing rounds to take these Xenomorphs out. M-41As and F-44AAs are practically Bolters.
After watching Alien: Romulus and Prey, I’m totally on board with Fedé Alvarez’s idea of co-directing an AVP movie with Dan Trachtenberg. Hell, this could be the major comeback that AVP franchise could use.
i actually really enjoyed this one and predators and prey. this is actually a lot better than the Predator imo idk maybe i should give it another try lol
I think it is fine to have a good idea what might happen because of experience but you guys seem to spend a lot of time guessing/theory crafting instead of just watching the movie. Especially when the guesses are based on faulty info because it was missed from earlier discussions
The sewer system is a storm drain sewer not a solid waste sewer, so not that unsafe to enter, plus if it isn't raining the water would be calm, so the keys would be right where they fell. You seem to not pay attention to what the movie clearly has been showing and telling you. Kelly is the military mom who knows how to fly the helicopter. Turning the brightness up on your monitor or tv is a must for this poorly lit movie. I like the extended unrated cut of this movie way more than the theatical cut, way cooler kills.
You know for as dark as this movie is, I can at least applaud it for looking like it tried to be natural with the lighting it used. I don’t see any filters or what not added in. That being said, that’s no excuse because I’m shocked they were able to even film this with how dark it is.
I liked this way better than part 1. The unrated version is better. I always thought the main character was the predator. That’s who I cared about. I wish it wasn’t so fkn dark.
I do like how this just jumps in instead of taking time to explain anything. It’s a sequel, they expect you to watch the first movie. I hate when sequels waste time explaining things we already know. If you need a refresher, watch the previous movie.
Yay lets goo im so glad yall are just doing all the movies! Cause why nottttt they are fun and they dont have to be as good as the "originals" anywho thank you for this, i really love yalls reactions =] Also cant wait for The Predator ! olivia munn is in it as well as keegan and thomas jane its just fun its my fav of the side movies
32:28 those are Bellybursters The Predalien finds human women who are already pregnant then puts chestburster embryos down their throat The Bellybursters eat the human baby and burst out killing the mother.
The plot is basically, the predalien caused the ship from the first film to crash on earth. The predator we see is like the containment investigator. The townspeople are just caught in the mix, and is why in the first film it was said the serpents can't reach the surface. This is what happens when they do.
They have to watch the next three Predator films, because they will like them much more, and maybe at least two as much as the first Predator. Yes, I bet they will even like the "The Predator" movie more than this. Again, that is a shame because the "Wolf" Predator and Pred-alien here are two of the best designs for each. And this movie was attempting to show the dangers of aliens not being controlled. Like the Aztec flashback in the first AvP
i still hope they do Predators(one of the most fun for me-without trying to think about it) Upgrade they can skip lol. but Prey - they need to watch and i know there is already a reaction on this channel.
I do feel like this movie should have been a TV show just so you could build a relationship with the characters and they could spend more time with the suspense
