"BREAKING -- 20th Century Studios division head Steve Asbell told The Hollywood Reporter, that there will be TWO Predator movies released in 2025, both by PREY director Dan Trachtenberg. One is the follow-up to Prey called BADLANDS with Elle Fanning in November, and the other is a completely surprise mystery Predator film that will release sometime before that! Asbell also said they are finalizing a deal with director Fede Alvarez to do a sequel to ALIEN: ROMULUS, and there is another ALIEN & PREDATOR crossover in the works! "It wouldn’t be in the way you think. That’s the thing. Not in the way that it will just be called Alien vs. Predator or anything like the original movies. If we do this, they’ll be organically created out of these two franchises that we’ve continued with characters that we fall in love with and those characters will combine…perhaps. But we haven’t gotten to that point. And we’re not just going to bang it out.""
@@FosterTravis1071 I can see your point, but I myself find the differences between the two more than enough to not consider this one a “rehash” of the first. Just my opinion though, and I again can see why you didn’t enjoy it as much.
Fun fact for anyone that's interested, the thing they kill right before Laurence fishburn shows up is the original Predator design that Jean-Claude Van Damme wore before he was fired and the suit was redesigned into the predator we know today
The way Nikolai kills the Tracker Predator is somewhat ironic, seeing as self-destruction is the Predators' preferred way of dealing with an opponent when they are about to be killed. Before his death Nikolai says, "Ну и рожа у тебя!" which can be roughly translated as, "What a mug you have!" as an attempt at "You're one ugly motherfucker."
My wife's cousin was Robert Rodriguez's costume designer, so in 2010 we attended the red carpet premier and after party in Austin, and met Robert and some of the cast and crew. As a lifelong fan of the Predator franchise, it was a dream come true! Most of this movie was shot in and around the Austin area, where Robert's studio is located.
Love this movie! I even liked the reference to the first film where Isabella, Alice Braga's character, tells the others that this isn't the first time humans have encountered the Predator, as a similar incident happened in Guatemala 1987, as well as explaining how Dutch destroyed the creature and lived to tell the tale.
Nikolai (the Russian) is played by Oleg Taktarov, who is a Russian Sambo expert and competed in the UFC in the 90's. This is my favorite "Predator" film because the action is amazing, and the story is awesome. Not only that, but the cast is top notch! I'm so happy that Tara picked up on the doctor (Topher Grace), and figured out that he was a predator, too. Awesome reaction! ❤❤
Berserker Predator (the one with the jaw thing on his helmet) his neca figure stated he has killed Xenomorphs and apparently he was the youngest predator to kill one
The way I heard it, this was supposed to be the sequel to Predator. They wanted to make a second Predator movie with Arnold, but because that wouldn't work (why would he go back and fight one of those things), they came up with the idea he was abducted and dumped on an alien planet to fight them. But due to all sorts of delays, they put the project on the shelf, until someone dusted it off and rewrote it (sans Arnold since too much time had passed). On a personal note, I love how Topher shows off his acting range in this movie.
Man. This movie not only has PACKED CAST - the premise of this film is so GOOD! From the meta-meta predators vs prey setting to actors like Topher Grace giving us his range of acting (I saw some of the venom form SP3 in there 🔥)
Fun fact: The creature that chases Topher Grace when he's used as bait is called a River Ghost and is made to look like the original design of the Predator. Also the jawbone on Berserker's mask is supposedly a xenomorph jaw
@@VikingGaming617 That would have been cool AF because every fellow fan I know wonders what happened to Dutch at the end of the first flick. AFAIK, he's only mentioned in the comic book sequels.
Originally Lawerance Fishburn character was meant to be Arnold Schwarzenegger similar to in the comics when Arnold’s character goes on to be a seasoned predator killer.
Think it was a very unique and different direction to take the prey and put them on a game preserve for the predator because they hunt and this is a twist and a different type of idea. Let me want more. I know they did a run and some comics Royce is involved with Isabella, but I didn’t go that deep into the comics after.
I think this feels most like the original in terms of tone and action, but I think Prey is a better movie. This one is great, though. It should have done a lot better than it did, I never understood why this didn’t jumpstart the franchise again like it was supposed to. I honestly like all the predator movies, the second one is unfairly hated imo, I’ve always thought it was a ton of fun with great action scenes
I kind of disagree, you just have to go into it with the appropriate context. With that mindset, there are still some stupid parts, but it's way more fun
@@patchwilliamson exactly. Stop thinking exactly every movie needs to be a 10/10 masterpiece. Summer popcorn action horror movies are fun if you go in with realistic expectations.
Out of the whole cast Laurence Fishbourne's appearence ACTUALLY makes the most sense especially when the movie came out in 2010. See, Nimrod Antal's previous directorial effort was the very forgotten Matt Dillon movie "Armored", released in late 2009. That movie features Laurence Fishbourne! # Facts! Also, of course Danny Trejo is in this due to Robert Rodriguez' producer role, duh. Too bad, Adrien Brody and Alice Braga never were considered for a return in this franchise :(
According to lore, people selected for the preserves are kept in stasis until released. As a result, in the comics at least, you can have groups that include people separated by decades, in one instance having a British gangster from 1987 to a Japanese Defense Force soldier from 2055, and were released in 2062. The most notable example of captured prey is John Schaefer, Dutch’s older brother, who was encountered on a preserve in 2068. Dutch was played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the original film.
Predators have been known to to use different species of dogs like these hell hounds which are used in mass as they are expendable they are likely not to originate from the same home plan as a predators because they don’t share any specific traits and common with them. They’re also the predator dogs that may come from Yautja prime. They have dreadlocks like the predator and similar faces. They are playful and don’t get deployed in mass usually working in pairs. There was a predator, The Killer Yautja bad blood clan, who use a special form of Xenomorph hounds.
In case nobody mentioned it, the trophy qualifications are as such: •You use a gun, or are holding a gun it uses its plasma rifle and doesn’t take your trophy.. •You use a blade, it uses a blade in a fight to the death, and if you loose it takes your trophy, your skull and spinal column.. •You use traps and hand to hand, The most coveted trophy of all, it will accept the challenge, drop all plasma weaponry and helmet, and fight you hand to hand, and if you win, you’ll earn the respect of the other Yautja Predators that have joined on the hunt, and you’re often rewarded with a trinket of honor for your bravery.. Or in Arnold’s case, you just get to keep your life and die of radiation poisoning after the Predator committed Seppuku with a small nuclear device... And that’s it, those are the 3 steps to either getting a trophy from, or becoming a trophy for the Predators... In Predator 1, the Predator did steal Jesse Ventura’s body to presumably take his trophy, and that goes against the grain of this, But he’s Jesse “The Body” Ventura, Who wouldn’t steal his body in the 80s..?? He was ripped!!!
Those 3 yautjas are "Bad Bloods" they do not follow the code of honor of their species, even they hunt their own kind. - Berserker (lider) - Tracker (hunting dogs) - Falconer ( Hanzo's fight)
Yeah they genetically enhance themselves to make them selves better hunters.(A no no in Yujita society because it is cheating and dishonorable) There is a 3rd faction in the comics called killer predators. They prefer killing to hunting, they also have armor like samurai and use Xenomorphs as attack dogs.
@@thewatcher3429 Yo, I think they're technically "cheating" by using their advanced tech to hunt what seems like less technologically advanced civilizations.
A deep dive into the comics our two protagonists live long enough that the predators give them weapons and armor like they have to hunt a super predator. In Predator hunting grounds has logs for all the characters in that universe even mentions after so many seasons they took her home but he stayed because he enjoyed the hunt like the predators.
This movie is very underrated. I only wished they did more with this almost Battle Royal premise. Love that Predators dropping all types of humans and monsters on a random planet to hunt. Also the super Predators are pretty cool too.
Nice reactions. The lady made a terrifying noise and face look to Brody when the doctor was walking up behind him to try to slice him with the knife with the plant goo so he knew to turn around and attack the doctor. And if you remember he never said the neurotoxic poison would kill you just paralyze your movements and visuals.
My predator movies ranking Predator: classic Predator 2: dint deserved the hate. Predators 2010: underrated. The Predator 2018: absolute garbage, only hood part was the lore and the avp reference.
There is only one (HUGE) thing in this movie that I don't like. The super predator has no honor. The species is known to have a sense of honor. The yakuza faced off in a duel with an honorable predator. It didn't have to drop its cloak. It chose to give the yakuza an honorable duel where the yakuza could see it. If you want to expand on the lore and make dishonorable predators, do that in the comics. It works great in the comics. The movies should only have the honorable ones. The audience shouldn't have to guess if the main character(s) is facing honorable, dishonorable, or a mixed group when watching the movies. I loved everything else about this movie. Unfortunately, that one thing makes me feel uneasy and lessens my enjoyment of this movie.
Also side note which is extended lore stuff. These Predators (Yautja) would be considered “bad bloods” since they will hunt anything including their own kind . Armed or unarmed it don’t matter. Nothings off the table
Fun fact, the predators in this movie are actually bad bloods; essentially criminal predators who don't follow the honor code and kill indiscriminately.
It’s amazing. As they’re coming out, all we want is one as great as the iconic 1st one. Which of course will never ever happen. This was a fun sequel. From best to worst: Predator Prey Predators Predator 2 The Predator. Depending on my mood, 2 & Predators are interchangeable
I really liked this movie. Topher Grace was a serial killer. That’s why he was chosen. I figured that out about half way through watching it the first time. I at first also thought he was just a doctor.
In the original Predator movie the character of Billy (Sonny Landham) was supposed to get a full on fight scene hand-to-hand with the predator but it didn't work out. So, in this film, we are gifted with something close to it with the Yakuza armed with an ancient katana.
Ive ran into Adrien Brody so many times in upstate NY . First time was at the mall after breaking up with my ex. And I met him while he was filming a movie in Utica NY and I drove past him a few times different days while he was shooting there. It was called clean . The location was very fitting for the plot of the movie. An ex addict . There is alot of recovery in that city
Glover was actually supposed to be Fishburne's character, and yes Arnold was supposed to be at the very end, but neither panned out. Such a shame. I love the flips this movie does with the formula, tweaking it and evolving it into new ideas that still stay true, flipping the heat vision to TOO much heat was so great. Plus the remixed score RULES. The samurai one on one was fantastic too! Never a big fan of the class war stuff (The Predator went some weird ways too) And no Tara, he's just a serial killer doctor ;) BUT thank you both for picking up on the idea that these guys need a medic, as the 'cover' as I loved that idea.
Brody's still around and acting, just over on TV mostly. Peaky Blinders, for example. He's been playing Pat Riley over on an HBO Max show for the past year or two. He's in a film, The Brutalist, with Guy Pearce, that's making the art house/award show circuit right now.
This movie never got the love it deserved. Should have had a sequel. They stated with the poison, one scratch would cause temporary paralysis. They brought the Dr. to the planet, not to help as an MD, but because he is a predatory person, just like the others.
This is the 2nd best Predator movie. The story was good and the execution was great. The beginning just pulls you right in from the 1st second. This movie is really underrated.
Favourite deleted scene of dialogue that should have stayed in the movie. Topher Grace - I need to pee. Danny Trejo - Girls pee. Men piss. Topher Grace - Oh yeah? And what do you do? Danny Trejo - I unleash.
Just so Alexander and Tera know, these Predators aren't like the ones we've encountered previously. They operate outside of the honor code we've become familiar with and they do they're own stuff for sport.
Great movie that gets lost in the shuffle a bit. Next up is The Predator which is not good, but it’s worth toughing out for “Prey” which is the best sequel.
