I think when you played guitar long enough, you sort of know what makes a guitar playable. You already know the specs that you wanted in a guitar (type of wood, pickups type, pots value, neck thickness, bone nut etc..). At this point, you no longer cares about what written on the headstock, you just want a decent 'playable' guitar. Like what Bald Shredder mentioned, just take your time and find the right seller that can work it out for you. Thanks for the video.
Thanks. A lot of people let their political beliefs guide their guitar buying opinions. And, these same people want everyone else to do exactly what THEY would do. Lots of anti-China sentiment out there, which seems to be the main reason for a lot of them being against Aliexpress or Chinese guitars in general.
@@thebaldshredder While it may be true that China's human rights record isn't too good, the people making guitars have nothing to do with that and are just trying to make a living like anyone. Demonizing them is really wrong in my opinion. Also, the do make some good stuff now and then for a really affordable price.
Just want to add this to your comment. Anyone having a major problem with anything made in China, I'm wondering where they are going to find a reasonably priced guitar "without" electronics made in China in it? I don't know this for a fact, but, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if all 3 of my Fender American Professional II's electronics (Pots specifically, not the pickups) are made in China. And, how about all your big screen TV's? I could go on, but I think the point has been made by both you and The Bald Shredder.
@@paulsadoff3661 EXACTLY! The government, like in EVERY country, is the enemy. NOT the working man, who probably experiences ACTUAL oppression (cue the leftist triggering!) and is trying to feed himself and his family.
Great info I wished I saw this video before ordering from Aliexress. I did a cancel request on my order and put a stop payment request with my credit card because the seller had a 67% rating. 👍
Anyone with a gripe about Chinese guitars should return all their clothes, appliances, parts of their cars, TVs and almost all of their shoes to the goodwill. Then you’ll have a point. Epiphone Kramer Gretsch squire etc have been using the East as a workshop for all the other players who don’t have a bank loan for a Gibson or Fender. I’ve been to both Gibson plants Memphis and Nashville and I’ll tell you, I see craftsmen of equal skill at both- the difference is the quality control and electronics. Gibson wants $7000 to even start looking at your custom job guitar, why not have one made bespoke for under $400? Really cool stuff and they are getting better with customer feedback as well. Keep chuggin along
Thank you for your video. Used all your tips and seller was very responsive and even sent me picture updates on my build. Now waiting to receive fingers crossed it doesn't take months
I'm so glad this was on my list, I've wanted to buy a, well a lp, you know, but I'm so jittery, about taking that step, I didn't know who I could trust to get what I want,. until now, thank you😎
My LP gold top must have came from the Chinese Gibson factory hahaha 🤣 it's a fantastic guitar and the seller even sent me pictures of it being built! He was fantastic and even changed things like the Nashville bridge to a ABR1. Is it as good as my £3000 Les Paul? No but it's still great for the £250 I paid! And remember lots of well known guitars are made in china! I changed my pickups to iron gear p90s all my electronics to CTS pots high quality switch and Jack and I say it's much better than a £500 epiphone Les Paul.
That Acoustic Explorer looked Cool ! China has some Awesome Craftsmen ! They get a bad reputation because of the Cheaper Guitars. My Epiphone is made in China and it's Great !
Really good advice and info fellow rocker. Can you please tell me the names of your favorite stores and perhaps witch one installed the Dunlop frets? Also, were you able to choose the fret board radius? You shop smart. S smart like Bruce Campbell. You know?
i got a sunburst strat with a humbucker in the bridge , its not quite a strat ,it had lot of buzzing frets , action was way high , intonation hadnt been looked at , sent it to the guitar shop for full set up , hey its a very playable hi end strat copy ,the pickups are pretty low output ideally id change them , but i play mainly clean tones bluesy tones , a little boost pedal sorts it fine ,since buying few year back , ive notice the actions risen a bit at the 12th fret , but weve been in sub zero temperatures and it was in a spare room on stand , my fault and truss rod needs tweaked , only other quibble is a dodgey input jack , its just cutting out few times , i will have a look at the soldering , put prob just pop new one in , well worth the money

Been eyeballing that headless hollowbody fanned fret for like $350. Looks so shexshy. My seller extended the time by marking it as "shipped" and then "returned" then "shipped" then "returned" a few times, kinda frustrating, but I figured they just needed more time to finish the guitar, and it eventually showed up!
Hey man, loved the video by the way. Do you have any tips about Floyd rose equiped guitars from aliexpress? I’m afraid of getting one and the Floyd be placed wrong, or don’t work
@@thebaldshredder actually my friend has been wanting a custom explorer style bass forever now he can afford one. he was looking at alibaba just the other day too. I sent him this link.
How expensive have the guitars you ordered been? I'm wondering if a $500 guitar from AliExpress, as beautiful as it is, is worth the money or if it's better to try and get a used Ibanez iron label or something like that.
You're probably better off getting a used Ibanez for that amount of money because the quality will be more consistent and hopefully you would have a chance to try it out first.
Ask what the weight of the guitar is and what woods are used, as i have seen this>> Neck: Maple and Mahogany, Body: Mahogany and Basswood.. Basswood on a LP never.
Wow man, thanks for the tips...I've seen cool guitars on AlieExpress.👍 I was planning to buy some guitars from Alie Express, I found some amazing Chibson Les Paul signature that's priced $5,000 on Reverb but only $450 on Alie Express, talk about just a fraction of the price, copied the exact looks to the detail. I just want to ask how much did you pay for your guitar? if there's additional taxes or custom duties or shipping fees? for example I will buy a $450 guitar, how much would I pay if it will be shipped to the US from China. Hope you could offer some insights. Thanks!🙂
@@thebaldshredder Nice!, thanks a lot mate.👍 Alie Express is the savior for those who want a great guitar without busting the bank. The $1,500 Fender Yngwie at Reverb is more expensive than the $200 Fender Yngwie at AlieExpress because of the labor cost and NOT because of the quality. Your videos about Guitars from AlieExpress is really helpful and inspiring😊, just purchased a guitar there haha. Hope you keep up reviewing the guitar from Alie. So many great finds there: KH2, Strandberg, PRS, Chibson 1959, Jackson, etc.....Subscribed!🔥
Great video. Thanks. When you decide to change pickups in the future, can you do a video on that? I put new strings on an Epiphone Les Paul Special 2, and before the new strings, it stayed in tune and played great. But the strings were very old. I bought some polish, cleaner, and oils from Amazon. The problem is when I put the new strings on it, the tune-o-matic bridge fell out... both the saddle and the bridge or whatever it's called. I put it back, but the string heightener got messed up and without thinking, I tightened it all the way down. After putting the strings on it, I had to readjust the height and now the intonation is all messed up and won't stay in tune. I've watched a bunch of setup videos, but I don't have all the tools to complete this, IE the fret board edge tool, the bridge rainbow tool, etc... If you or anyone has any suggestions, please share. I really like this guitar and it's the only one I own currently... until taxes finally arrive (which were filed back in February.) Thanks
Great rule of thumb is....these guitars are wall hangers, not instruments. if your gonna buy one avoid strats go with les pauls, strats are cheap af and not worth $15, with a les paul you may get a decent body, but its cheaper to buy a real one.
Well it's going to depend on which seller you use. My les paul is great. Didn't need to change anything. At $288 it was definitely cheaper than a real one. But really it depends on the seller/builder. Quality can vary greatly.
@@thebaldshredder les paul £250, so its not worth buying a fake. My last guitar was a cheap new jackson Js32 brand new £189. BENSON STRAT steel frets brand new $299. at these prices for a functioning instrument compared to more for a wall hanger....its definately time to avoid chineese fakes.spend less buy real.
Here's the '22 edition. There's no '23 edition because it would be the same as the '22. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ygYX8JVhrJo.html
Hi, i saw this neck that i want, is from a seller called Day Day Up Happy store, do you know them? they seem to have good reviews, they say that they can do the neck to my specifications, i already chat and send them pictures of how i want it like you say. Now they have send me a link to buy the neck and they say they manage the specifications, they also send me another link that have a price and only one pic that say Extra fee, i don't know what im supposed to do. do i trust them? i really appreciate to have your advice, i have never buy from Ali and i don't what to get scammed
I checked it out. Good reviews and seems legit. You're unlikely to get scammed. If the neck arrives and it's not what you asked for you can open a dispute. Ultimately it's your call. Good luck.
@@thebaldshredder Thank you very much, they were insisting that I place the order to give me more details, but they say they will send me photos before making the shipment. thanks again I love your videos!
@@thebaldshredder good question ? if it can happen to me it can happen to you and a lot of other people also... I feel like I have been played by a con artist... you can buy them on ebay the seller is in the USA and has been selling them for years I dont understand why they dont go after these people unless they plan on going after the public for buying them!
@@thebaldshredder Gibson has lost lawsuit after lawsuit trying to protect their brand name, do you think they will go after people who legally by Chibsons over ebay and then sell them ? Music Stores hate these guitars because they can not make money off of them. Some people prefer them over Epiphone especially after they have been upgraded with USA parts. I understand Gibson says they can legally do nothing about people in China producing and selling fakes and US customs is watching for them coming from China, but the question is will they go after the public for reselling them? Seriously I think they can and everything on ebay is recorded for tax purposes and our US customs is working for Gibson to resolve this issue for Gibson. Do you think it should be against the law to resell these guitars? Ebay has sellers selling them brand new here in the USA that offer really fast shipping or do you think this is entrapment because they are being sold brand new from California and other US states and US customs is not looking for them and people are buying them not understanding the law that they can not be resold? Can Gibson sue you for selling your personal property?
Never bought a chinese guitar that wasn't garbage... so many affordable legit mfgs now that has much better quality standards... no reason to buy from aliexpress anymore...
I would never buy a real Gibson and chance anything on it to make it non original or hardly even play it for that matter. One of these, I’ll mod the heck out of and play it daily. Where is money better spent? 🤷♂️ 🤔
