The big lesson learned from watching your channel is this, gear is good but the bottom line is if you are good you can make anything sound good. I believe it. You could have a $10,000 instrument or a $200 instrument, but it will only sound as good as YOU make it! Nice work sir.

Hard to believe that he is micing up a Core ID 10 lol. Adds a bit more insult to injury. If you want to make good use of a cheap guitar, it really helps gain some basic DIY skills and learn how a guitar works. One of my favourites is a 45 year old Japanese Les Paul I bought on Craigslist for $50. Did refret and replaced most of the missing hardware, threw in some used Seymour Duncan Seth Lovers and it's a fantastic guitar.

Precisely! Can’t really describe it . Most of the coveted “tone” is in one’s fingers, and you can fool around buying every new green overdrive that comes out every week, but it all comes down to your playing , your phrasing , your taste in tone.

If that's the lesson you learned, you've got as piss-poor ethics as this asshole has. The FIRST and most important lesson you ought to learn is this: BUYING COUNTERFEIT GUITARS FROM COMMUNIST CHINA IS ILLEGAL. You cannot legally sell these guitars in America without being in FELONY VIOLATION of United States penal code 18 USC 2320 (www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/2320) Punishments range up to $2M and 10 years in Federal prison. I purchased a Chibson flying V last year. Its one of my favorite guitars. I paid around $230. Mahogany, waxed pickups / no feedback at high volumes, neck feels great.....I did have to level the fret inlays as they were sticking up some. And had a loose input jack. Easy fixes. If I play a gig and it gets stolen...it would sting, but not like a $4k stab in the stomach. The "real" one would cost you around $4,699.00 USD. I think its made out of wood from Noah's ark, has Narwhal tusk inlays and bindings, solid gold wiring, and paint from NASA that repels proton and electron radiation.

You review was spot on and was aligned with my recent success as a new Chibson owner. A Black Beauty Les Paul Custom also. I updated the tuners with new Grover's for a truer gold color and put on an original L.P. Custom trust rod cover. I'm a retired professional writer/guitar player so the only person I was trying to impress was myself and it worked. I've played LP gold tops in the mid fifties, lots of strats and teles, so I think I know a good sound when I hear one. As for quality and playablity, no problem. I wish these had been available when I was a young man. Actually they are better in one sense of the matter then the original older models. So for those of you that may be thinking I couldn't afford the real deal wrong. Why pay more when you can get almost the same for a lot less. Thanks, my rant is over. Good luck if you are successful in purchasing one.

It's just my opinion...I don't think the Chinese are really hurting the Gibson market, if anything they may be helping it! People that buy the Chinese guitars are people that would never spend $4000 on a real Gibson, but they may buy the Chinese guitar and buy some original parts from Gibson to make their cheap guitar better. So I don't necessarily think it's right, but if anything I think they're helping sell Gibson parts!
@briancooper3067
@briancooper3067 6 лет назад
I agree on both points. I'm one of those who would never buy a handmade $1000+ Gibson as I am a drummer and guitar is more of a fun thing to me. I also like that I could get a Ace frehley model replica (huge Kiss fan) but not huge enough to invest that much into a "Kiss" guitar. But at the same time, I'd be furious if I bought one from some asshat off of eBay thinking it was a real Gibson!!! But I'd be fine with REPLICA stamped on the back of the headstock. Of course that's not what they are doing! So its a dilemma. If your buying it for yourself and you know what your getting.....cool. But you know some fucktard is going to sell them as real online. Ugh.... I'm glad they suck at duplicating BC Rich guitars! At least from what I've seen! I'm Also a fan of those.

People who try sell Chibson as the real thing should have their Chibson shoved firmly up their asses. If you buy the guitar in the flesh then it dosent take a rocket scientist to see that its a fake. Buying just from pictures over the internet is always risky.
@nkhlxandr

Not everyone has the kind of money to spend a fortune on guitars. Some fantasize having a Gibson. They usually go for the Chibson. I don't think it's that of a bad idea to sell cheap ones like these. You really get an inside story of how guitars work too. Best part you can actually make the guitars how you want it. It's totally customizable.
@DerrickRG
@DerrickRG 5 лет назад
Let's keep it simple. If Gibson would just put their name and headstock on their more affordable guitars (Epiphone LPs) then nobody would be buying these fakes. But since they don't, people like me will continue to buy the fake ones because if you damage one, it's no big deal. Just a couple hundred down the drain instead of a couple grand. edit: We can complain about morals, like it's morally wrong to buy a counterfeit guitar, but it's also morally wrong for them to sell you an $800 guitar for 3 grand.

Why not just buy an epiphone? You’re not impressing anyone because those of us who actually know what a Gibson is can spot a fake from a mile away. It looks silly whenever I see someone playing a fake guitar live. It’s cringe. Even the “good” chibson in this video looks bad. The stop bar screws aren’t the right shape, the screws on the pickup ring are the wrong size, pickup covers are wrong and the entire body shape is off, the pickup selector switch screw is not even close and obviously the bridge is an import. That’s not even mentioning the obvious missing fret nibs etc. even if they fixed all of those things, a real Gibson owner can easily tell.

I have an Actual Gibson Les Paul Custom, and recently purchased one of these Chibson and to be fair the build quality is pretty decent, but is no where near as good as my Real Les paul. I swapped out the pickups and changed the pots just to increase the reliability factor and over all tone. So far the hardware is good and i think fits well with it so i am not going to be changing that anytime soon. Would i buy another one, yeah for sure as they are well priced, but keep in mind they are far from perfect and there is always something that may need adjustments or replacement once received so it's buyer beware and do your homework on these, but once set up to your liking they are a blast to play.

Was yours LPC really just perfect "out of the box"? If so you're a lucky one. Gibsons are notorious for poor quality. Probably because they're not made in america, they're made in america from foreign and domestic components, so there's no telling if those components are just pot metal hardware or a NECK, or BODY, or NECK/BODY assembly. I imagine the ones being sold are the ones gibson rejected, thus the flaws.

I own an Epiphone that they refer to as a Custom Pro that I picked up used for $350 that is an exact match to the Chibson featured on your video. I’ve been playing for 40yrs and own numerous “high-end” guitars. I must say that this purchase was my first at purchasing something other than Fender, Taylor or Gibson and I’m really impressed. While the detail work on mine is not perfect it’s real close. With a little work adjusting frets, pups and minor tweaks, my guitar plays like a dream. My friend has a genuine Custom from the 70’s and he was very impressed. I think if you can make a guitar YOURS it doesn’t matter what it says on the headstock. If it plays, it plays and if it plays, it PAYS! I’m now a big fan of Epi. With my luthier skills being at a decent level, I have made my guitar play as I wanted it too. Very satisfied and I have more money left over to buy more stuff which seems to be a problem of mine that is out of control! It’s only money! I DO love guitars!

I have an Epiphone Les Paul studio E1 ebony that cost me £220 (actually a bit more than that with a fazely hard case), and it's a great guitar. Looks a bit plain because of no binding, but I've changed the truss rod cover to a brass one, put gold control knobs on it and plan on making the two new backplates out of some sheet brass that I have. I might stick some gold gotoh locking tuners on it but not sure about that yet. It has silver tuners and bridge parts as standard, with black plastic back plates. The only issue I have with it is the black gloss finish which shows up every single fingerprint and light surface scratch lol. I might change the finish to more of a matt finish. It's so easy to play and sounds really nice. I was a strat person before I bought it a year ago, from my early teenage years. The strat takes second place now lol

Chinese luthiers are making better replicas of Les Paul Gibson and Epiphone even better than the original ones, but there will always be people who deny this fact! I got a Chinese replica of a Gibson Les Paul Gold Top last year, and it sounds incredibly well!! I've gotta say that there are people who spend thousands of dollars buying an original Les Paul guitar , but I remind them that it's not the guitar which makes the musician but the musician is who makes the guitar. Someone can afford to buy an expensive Les Paul but if he doesn't know how to play it, it will sound terribly! Chinese people are making excellent replicas of these famous guitars in order to offer people who don't have enough money the opportunity to get one excellent replica at a very low cost!! I was in the market for a Les Paul style guitar last year, I had the money for a LP Studio level instrument (£1200). I looked around and eventually went for a PRS SE Bernie Marsden and I have to say I'm glad I went that route, I saved myself a few hundred bucks (enough to pick up a G&L Bass for my brother) and had something which overall I would say is on par with the quality of instrument I'd have received from Gibson. The PRS is made by World Music in Korea and has been rock solid. If I was in the market for a replacement or upgrade I wouldn't even consider Gibson given the shit quality they put out now, it would be a no-brainer for me to go for a better PRS or another well made single-cut. In honesty I'd avoid these Chibsons though since they're technically counterfeits (because they try to pass themselves off as Gibson) and I'd be worried that they'd be seized by Customs at the border. That's an important warning for people who are looking at picking one of these up.

Hi Max, This is the first time I have seen your vid, (love your style) I am a veteran Muso, now in my mid '70's I have played many guitars through the last 60 years. I started with cool unknown brands which served their purpose well. I then graduated to an Australian 1962 Maton Firebird (Red, of course) I moved on to a mid '60's Burns Bison, then a 1964 Epiphone Casino (probably the nicest semi I have ever played). I then moved on to a Rickenbacher 620 (now discontinued) and finally a '71 Gibson Les Paul Custom (sunburst). I have played that guitar ever since (though the weight becomes an issue in a long gig) I have also tried the Chibsons, I had a Replica of my '71 made and I was pleasantly surprised at the finish and the tone etc. The Asians are getting very good at what they produce, in my humble opinion, it can only help to make such instruments more affordable to budding players.

Another great vid. I actually don't care about brands as much as I do quality. No guitar I own cost me over $500 (I own 14 guitars and basses total) and I have customized most of them. I know what makes a guitar good. If I were to own a Gibson it would be a high end custom shop or a rare classic like a '59 or '61. These days their $1000 guitars aren't subjected to great QC So I would get a PRS instead. I'm not buying a guitar at that price that needs any significant work and gibsons commonly have binding G string and intonation issues. And don't get me started on those auto tune tuners...

I've been playing guitar off and on since I was 15 years old. I'm now 33, and I have always loved the way a Gibson Les Paul looked, especially the Custom series. But, after playing on a $1,500 ESP, or a $1000 Ibanez. What you get with a Gibson is like an iPhone, you're paying for the brand. It may do things a certain way, sound a certain way, even be the best at certain things. I can't justify spending that much money on a guitar, when I'm not a professional musician. I play guitars based on how they feel, and when it looks sexy in my hands, I enjoy playing it even more. A Gibson Les Paul is the sexiest looking guitar to me, and I love the way a Les Paul feels sitting on my leg, in my hands, I just love them. It's why I have an Epiphone Custom, because it's affordable. I want a Chibson and if I knew a solid place to get one, I'd order it right now. I will never buy a legit Gibson, until they start to have reasonable prices.

I ordered one as a gift for my son. Much nicer than I expected. After a little tweaking it plays quite well. I ordered a single pick up version for myself to play around with. The action was awful and the tuning keys sucked. Other than that, pretty nice. I own 11 real ones, this knock off plays and sounds as good. After tweaking the action and changing the tuners it plays quite well. I also changed the pick up to a Gibson 500T I had laying around. My main amp is a 1975 100 watt Marshall master volume I bought new. The Chibson body is about 11/64 thinner than a real Gibson. My honest and simple opinion, is that I would totally buy an Epiphone, if they were treated in the same manner as Squier, aesthetically. Love love LOVE, the Gibson headstock shape. Absolutely hate the Epi headstock shape. Thinking about buying one of these guitars, and importing Epiphone Les Paul Pro pickups and electronics in it, because I really like the sound and versatility of that setup. Thanks for making this video. It rocks!

my bro owns all kinds of guitars, mostly originals, but he also owns a chibson that he did all the luthier work himself, he dropped Gibson custom shop pick-ups, as well as the tuners, pots, and wiring and other bits and pieces, and man it destroys all his other pieces, it growls and howls, but it does it so sweetly.

I'm one of the people who would love to buy a real Les Paul but simply can't justify it. This video proves that the electronics are more important than the actual body (to a certain extent). A Chibson with a set of Lindy Fralin Pure PAF's would be interesting.

I actually have been to the ESP factory in China, they make a large portion of the Edwards and E2 that are selling on the market right now. ESP claims they are made in Japan, but what actually happened is the Chinese factory make the part, and some of them are assembled in Japan, some are just assembled in China and directly ship to the distributors. What I’m trying to say is, Chinese made guitar is not the representation of the “ low quality “ or “ shitty craftsmanship.” They can make great guitars for a very good price , due to the low cost of labor there, and it’s just the market and “common perception “ regard the Chinese made guitar are less good.....

So I have a 2013 Les Paul Standard that was so over priced and quality sucks. Just recently 6 of the fret inlays just popped out . They are basically good guitars but quality control is terrible and for me a warranty is only good if you don't have to use it. I have epiphones that are easily as nicely made and play exactly the same(with a little work and hardware) for a fraction of the cost. If they are going to continue to manufacture junk for 3-12K they can keep them. Too many choices for better product in todays market.

As far as spotting this to be a knock-off, your friend who spotted the difference in inlay size is spot on, but I'm very surprised that so few people spot it, when I can quickly and plainly see SEVERAL dead giveaways just in the first pass of the video. You mentioned the bridge hardware (posts are wrong size)...definitely not Gibson's work at the ends of the nut...Obviously FAKE Grovers....and no true LP custom would ever have the crowns of the frets extending OVER the binding. And if I'm not mistaken, the control knobs placement and spacing is off.

Slash's 59 LP was a fake, granted it was an amazing knock off it still wasn't a real Gibson all the credit for that guitar's sound lies with the creator not a company. The Chibson's are getting way up in quality as stated with only a few minor issues for the most part. Counterfeit: Made in exact imitation of something valuable with the intention to deceive or defraud. This isn’t a counterfeit. They are not trying to deceive their buyers. The buyer could be buying with that intention, and if so, that’s on them. Do I agree with placing a trademark that isn’t yours on the guitar? No. But I understand that some people want the exact look of a Gibson but will never have a chance to buy one. I have a gorgeous Gibson Les Paul, and I adore it, but I first bought a Chibson three years earlier. My Chibson is so good that it made me want a real Gibson! I’m proud to show it off as a Chibson, and you know what, 8/10 people that hear it without knowing (I make them turn around), prefer the Chibson. (I don’t). The Chibson has a louder, harsher, and brighter tone than my LP with ‘57’s and most non-guitarists seem to like it more. I love them both, and I would buy more of each without hesitation. You can now order these with your own designed headstock and inlays for $20 extra. I highly recommend these guitars for non professional guitarist, or even for those that are on a tight budget.

Gibson use higher quality parts that can last a lifetime. Gibson will also have to pay for distribution, import tax on woods, higher wage for American workers, marketing, support for artists, the list goes on. The knockoff brands don't have to pay for any of this because companies like Gibson have paved the way or there countries regulations don't make them pay or there is simply no need in the case of artist support etc. Don't get me wrong you will also be paying for heritage and name but it's your choice

@@spudvader Gibsons are still a bunch of rip off merchants. Here in the UK a well known music store owner and Gibson stockist has said why dont Gibson just make Chinese versions of there range at much lower prices. Other American makers already do this with no problems. He said the Epiphone range should just be classic Epiphone guitars like the Casino, Rivera, Broadway etc and leave out Les Pauls and SG's. The last two should be in a Chinese made Gibson range along with ES335 ES345 ES355 ES175 and so on. I would say the reason Gibson dont do this is just plain greed on their part. Here in the UK its illegal to import and sell Chibsons or resell but they are not illegal to own. There are plenty out there an ads on ebay UK and Gumtree plus facebay are becoming very common along with fake PRS, Fenders, Rickenbackers, Martins and others. I've never heard of anyone ever being do U bought a Chibson ES355 locally of facebay and a 59 Les Paul of ebay from a dealer in Glasgow. Both were advertised as being Chibsons and being fakes.

Buying a Chibson in my personal opinion is a far better choice because you can have put a little extra into the guitar and have a wonderful guitar for a fraction of the cost of a real Gibson. I recently purchased two Epiphone Les Paul's and I would put either of the guitars up against any Gibson Les Paul. They look amazing and play so good!!!! Sound wonderful too!!!! I just can't see paying thousands for something that just doesn't play as good as what you can get from a much cheaper guitar and hot rod the thing yourself and make it exactly what you like and prefer. I am not saying that all Gibson Les Paul guitars play horrible, but I tried many over the years and some I absolutely loved and many I thought should have been used as a boat anchor. Sometimes you can find a real gem both in authentic guitars and with guitars that are far less expensive. Don't be afraid to give something a try just because of the price because you could miss out on some really sweet playing guitars! A really great guitar is not about the price, but how does it feel in the players hands and how the guitar can inspire you to play. Having a great guitar technican to set the guitar up is also very important and should not be over looked. A great set up can be all that is needed to turn an instrument into something that plays and feels amazing.

Did the same thing, I chose Stonewall custom wound pickups. He also upgraded the pots, toggle and all wiring. Then leveled the frets and fine tuned the intonation. Altogether spent around $900.00 including price of guitar. The guitar looks, plays and sounds precisely as I wanted it to. No regrets. That said I also shelled out over 3k for the 2017 Gibson SG Custom , swapped out pickups for Seymour Duncan Pearlie Gates and now I have exactly what I want there too. BTY, the “ authentic “ Gibson SG I paid 3k for came with defective paint overspray on the binding in a couple of places and less than perfect inlay work. So yes, the real Gibson’s are GROSSLY OVERPRICED for what you actually get!!! I don’t have any problem AT ALL advocating the purchase of a chibson knock off. All you have to do is swap out the appropriate items and you’ll have a sweet rig for 1/3 the full price. Just don’t EVER try to sell it as an authentic Gibson. Anyone with half a brain will be able to tell the difference. Chibson bindings are thinner, the supposed Ebony fretboard is dyed rosewood and the rest of the hardware is very cheaply made.

Gibson once great, but no longer, churning over priced junk, the same as Fender , (check out SX guitars Fender copy's on RU-vid) having now got rid of 3 Gibson's on Ebay I got hold of an old Tokai LP, and boy what a great buy, £1600.00 it plays virtually its self, tone, action, build are superb, its superior to the Gibson's in every way, with the tonal quality and sustain of the holy grail a 1959 LPS Gibson. I kid you NOT!👍👍 Now while I was looking for aTokai , I got a Chibson just out of curiosity just to see what all the fuss was about, well I was impressed for £240 , changed the pickups EMG's , spent one evening dressing the frets ,and setting the truss and intonation, finally plugging it in . I was amazed by the thing, it had become a very worthy beast, as good as any of the Gibson's I had sold, but not quiet as good as the Tokai, but still a great second back up guitar. So maybe I was lucky with this Chibson, but if your prepared to do a little work on a Chibson, it has the potential that you can create a very worthy beast of your own, total cost, and an evenings work £356.00. 🎶😁

I think Ammoon took the right approach and basically copied Strats and Les Pauls but is not putting Fender/Gibson’s name on in it, or lying about where it is made. The Les Paul Custom you just reviewed should be considered counterfeit because it says Gibson, Les Paul, Made in USA and it is none of those. I made contact with a chinese builder who not only would build an es140 for $300, but would build other models with the short scale as well. I happen to have a Chibson which I got as an experiment and two real Gibsons; a 2007 LP Custom and 1992 LP standard. I can say for certain that the real Gibsons I have are superior in every way to the Chibson. I spent about $600 total to get the Chibson in very good playing order between new nut, fret leveling and installing better electronics, pots, switch and all of the hardware. It sounds very good, I use the Chib at gigs where I fear theft could be a real threat. There is a feel and certain quality to the tone the real Gibsons have that just isn't there in my Chibson. The plastics on the Chibson suck.

$600, shouldn't surprise you... inclusive of guitar cost. Labor for new nut and fret level $150, $225 for pickups, $100 for wiring harness, $50 tuners, new bridge and tailstop $50 Look into it and you'll see it ads up quick if you want a Chibson to actually play decent. I won't buy another one, it was a fun experience and I learned a lot. The real Gibsons are infinitely better based on my personal experience with my one Chibson. Others may have had worse experiences or better. Now with CITES good luck getting a rosewood fingerboard through customs on a counterfeit guitar. If you want one, order it with your own logo, I wish I had done that.

All 3 way switches work fine for more then five years now! Why would I replace them?!? $250 for pickups?!? Are You kidding me??? Set of Seymour Duncan’s 59 Gold is under $200! You go less fancy with chrome or no covers, around $120! I have dragon fires and GFS, $50! Damn good pickups! I would agree on the leveling and setup! But on my last built, I only polished them! Or even $600! What I could buy for under $1000??? Epiphone??? If You compare the sound of that guitar on that video with Epiphone or studio, You definitely You don’t know much about guitar “sound”! Hell I have set one of my builds with YiBuy set pickups for under $10 for pair , it is a bit more middle’ish, but I love tick middle LP sound for slow solos! So it will stay that way! ......And did I mention I have now more options??? The most important think is the slab delivers! And I really don’t care anymore from what exactly mahogany or how many pieces wood the guitar is made of!

Good afternoon! Great review by the way, as I’ve been on the fence for a while on getting one of these. My answer to your question is this: I think it’s all to do with what you plan on doing with the guitar/where you’re at with skill level and career. If you’re a beginner guitarist, and want to replicate the look of your favorite guitar player, I would do the research, and find one of these to purchase. If you’re up to it, you can easily use it as a “guinea pig” guitar for learning how to do guitar mods yourself. And I consider myself simply a guitar enthusiast, who doesn’t really have the need to spend thousands of dollars on a pro guitar, so I think I fit the bill. I really think the only person that’s not in this market is a professional, or aspiring guitarist. I wouldn’t want to play a fake on stage, and be called out by someone who may not be as understanding, or accepting.

China rules. Every bimbo can make Gibson for 3.000 $ but to make a solid piece for 150 $ is a true MASTERPIECE....their "made in USA" I can not dig

You have to keep in mind that a real $3000 Gibson has to cost the factory for about $500. the salaries are high and they pay each employee health and retirements benefits, then they need to go to a retail store for about $1200 who then sells it for 3 grand if they can.

They could be more original on that part, and write China or Chibson on the Logo.

I actually own a Gibson Les Paul Standard though I have personally considered getting myself a Chibson as well (or even a Burny). I love Les Paul Customs but the Gibson ones are just too darn expensive to even think of getting. At least with a Chibson I could modify it in anyway to make it more comfortable and have decent sound quality! Anybody who got a hold of a Chibson LP Custom, tell me your thoughts overall!

I first bought a Gibson SG in 1985 ,it was an amazing guitar,everyone who played it said it was the best rock guitar they ever played,fast forward,2014,I bought another new SG,standard,it was no where had near the same feel,the frets were like railroad tracks and before I sold it,I was on the phone with luthiers about giving this brand new Gibson a fret shaving or something.It might as well been a Chinese guitar,but actually ,I believe most Chinese as well as Japanese are super dedicated workers and I never put it past them,they "can" make an impeccable guitar,just like Greco did,no doubt and the chinese fancy inlay workmanship with real shell is out of this world.

I think the complaints I hear about GLPs are A: They cost WAY TO MUCH and B: Out of the box they are never setup to play that well. Tough to set up a guitar when it's going to be shipped, subject to temperature changes, handled by several people then hang from a wall for sale. Every potential owner is different and has different taste as far as action and tuning. For the money they get the first setup should be included when purchased. PS: Great work on this review!

I've played some Standards and not one gave me that "Gibson" feel yet I've played plenty of Epiphones that have that "feel", I recently traded my Squire Classic Vibe Tele for a 2004 Korean Epiphone Les Paul Standard with Gibson Pick Ups (not sure what model they just say "Gibson USA" but man does it sound and feel good and it actually makes me want to play more which none of my previous guitars did. I had an Epiphone SG 400,Agile 2000 with a Duncan JB in the bridge and it sounded pretty good, and my Classic Vide Tele. There is just something about the feel and sound of this Epiphone running through a Blackstar HT 60 and a 4x12 with Vintage 30's 👍

I don't mind copies. So long as they are built decently well. Hardware and pickups can be upgraded. But my biggest issue is making sure is plays well

I know of a guy in a very well known tribute band that has one or 2 of these, and like me, they are not HUGE Gibson guys to begin with...the only Gibson-esque guitar I like is the Epiphone Custom. But they have to play Gibsons in that band, so they got one of these and for the price, they are extremely hard to beat. You are correct, I (we) would NEVER pay $3,000 for a real Gibson, then take that to some 2-bit dive bar to play a gig, and chance it walking off before the end of the night...but a $300 knock-off, that (mostly) sounds and plays like a Gibson? Yeah, count me in!! There is always going to be a market for Gibsons (even after they go bankrupt then have the name bought by some other guitar company), and...there's always going to be a market for Chibsons, for people like us that just cannot justify spending 10 times the amount of money on a guitar thats probably only marginally better-built that the Chibson. Great vids BTW

Lots of brands make Gibson "copies" with other logos, I mean the design has been widely copied ... put any other logo on this one, or no logo at all, and it should be equally legal than any other LP Style guitar! Nice review

Just ordered a Chibson Custom, i have an epiphone les paul standard right now that i play and wanted to get another guitar for different tunings, i expect i'll have to change the pick ups but ive played worse and still had just as much fun and it's the price of a used epiphone standard!

I have 12 different cheap frankenstein guitars, and I love them all. I can't stand the fact that I can't customize or change anything in a guitar, because when you do it with an expensive guitar, you'll make it lose it's value. So I look out for bodies, necks and parts that fit what I'm expecting to get in terms of playability and sound. I do a lot of reasearch and most of the times I get something unique that pleases me a lot. Congrats on your chennel. It seems custom made for people like me!

Nice review. About six months ago I got a Chibson that is very good. I own two others that are just OK. They are not quite as good as an Epiphone (I own several of those) and I bought them a few years ago. The earlier ones cost somewhere around $200 each. I thought I'd give it one more try. The new Chibson I got has a one piece boby, one piece neck, binding over the fret ends, an ABR style bridge (no screw head slot), very nice tiger strip flame top and plays and sounds very good (after I did a fret dress and truss adjutment) and so far no mods (yet). It was $310, free shipping. I own and have owned several Gibson Les Paul's over many years of playing so I am very familiar with the sound and feel of real Gibson Les Paul's. So do I think this new Chibson of mine is as good as my Gibson's? No, but the differences are minor and not worth another $2500. So I got two "just OK" Chibson's and one really good one. That's the chances you take. It's OK as long as you know that going into it.

I've been hearing lots of bad reviews about Gibson guitars. During the last 20 years I've had quit some Gibsons. 2 nighthawks, an es-295, es 135, lp traditional, classic, R7 custom shop, 60's tribute, 50's tribute, Flying V, explorer .. maybe I forgot something.. These were all guitars produced between 96 and 2019 and of course in different price/quality ranges as you can see. However, I've never had the feeling Gibson ever let me down in any way. Aside with some Fender and Gretsch guitars they are the best guitars I've had and I have never had issues with any of my Gibson guitars. I had quit some problems with Fender in all price ranges from Mexican to USA custom. However the best (sound and playability) Strat I've played for about two years was a cheap Mexican sunburst Strat. After two years the frets were totally worn out and I sold the thing, wich I still regret. If you want a good guitar, go to the shop and try to play every damn guitar they have. Thats how I've bought mines. I wanted a Strat, I played every Strat, I wanted a tele, I played every tele...

I've played numerous gibson customs and they are all over the place. I have played some that are litterally trash( brand new 3500 at guitar stores) orange peel, bad binding, crooked screws and tuners . Even lowered the bridge all the way down and adjusted the neck, so with out having it worked on and spending alot of money , it wasnt worth its weight.and this was on 3 different customs. Now I had a 84 les paul custom and it was all around one of the best guitar I ever ever played. Other have been super good but nothing to write home about. For the price of a real gibson it's definitely a buy in person guitar as for almost anything one would buy at that price. These chips on are awesome ( I don't have one) but I can say they bc even if you have to have it worked on and setup you will have an amazing guitar for cheaper than an epiphone custom. I could be wrong?
