I have been looking at this model and this video keeps popping up. You and I sound very similar as far as our flying participation and skill level. Good review and editing.
Agreed, I have a oxy4 sport which is the 325mm stretch version running 360mm blades and the 470 flies so good I can't decide whichI li,like, better.. The only negative is the belt tensioner seems to need a little something. Is yours holding up OK? My plan was to go to the oxy4 max as the oxy4's share some parts which is a big plus. Having trouble parting with the 470. Oh hell it doesn't take up that much room. Seems like your always a few steps ahead of me. I'm looking at upgrading to the ix12 and doesn't your review show up. So I found your channel looking at wood working videos and then rc helicopters. Thanks for posting.
Its a really nice helicopter. My first real rc heli (besides a small xk k124) My first build and setup aswell. It went together well and flys good. You will love it.
I've not had a 450 next to the 470 but from memory, this is quite a bit larger than my 450 when I had that. The bigger rotor disk is way important to how it flies and makes it fly like a much bigger heli.
Thanks for making the video been flying my 470 for about a year now and would like to see your set up on the micro beast plus. Do you fly with stabilization parameter L on? If so how did you activate that parameter and if you didn’t how did you get it so stable in flight? I have a blade 230 with stabilization and can fly that with no problem great helicopter. I can hover the 470 and go forward and back but still cant fly it in a circuit. Am I doing something wrong?
So I fly 450 size helis, have a tough time seeing it in the air. Is the 470 bigger in size and is it easier to see in the air it's hard to tell on video, figured your an older gent as I am so you would no what i mean (old eyes) thank you for your time.
It is a little bigger, I have the actual size in the review on my site. the big thing for me was learning to fly closer to me. the size difference helps some but forcing myself to fly closer is what fixed my "see it" problems.
Absolutely. I recently sold it to a friend as I needed to reduce the load on the rc budget but the Align 470 remained a great flier and one of those I wish could have kept. The cash demands of running my site mean I have to turn models into cash to help fund the next review.
when i was watching you fly every time you go down field and turn back all i see is the helicopter turn the other way. this is also what happens when i fly my 450l. I took it out last week after a 2 year hiadus. I do fly fpv drones almost every day and have been practing los. I might just put a camra on the hellie, i would have a better chance.
Great heli great flying to iv but one month ago haven't flown mine as iv got issues with the tail just want stop hunting would you any chance share your total set up love to get mine like yours.
Tail gain has to be tuned to YOUR setup. He may use different throttle curves/ pitch curves, so his values may not help you, as torque loading may change between your 470 and his. Also, you need independent tail gain values for each flight mode, cause torque load changes. If its a hard quick hunt, gain is too high. If its a lazy wag, gain is too low. Get tail hold close in a hover, then do some hard pitch pumps, high bank angle turns in fast foward flight... Your gonna have to adjust bit by bit until the tail holds across the flight envelope. And as stated above, you gotta do this process for each flight mode. Also your gain value will decrease as headspeed increases.
The 470 is certainly bigger and while easier to see (stay oriented) it flies "bigger" as well. It is noticeably more stable than the 450 in the same conditions. I sold mine to a guy who is rather new to helicopters and he is doing well with it, surprised at how much easier it is to fly than his smaller heli's.
Hi. Sorry for asking again. A few people complain that the tail is not holding well at low rpm or pitch pumps due to low gear ratio. Did you experience any of these problems. Struggling to get a locked tail was a nightmare for me on some other kit (not align) so i do not want to come across this issue. Thanks
Never had a tail issue with the 470. That usually comes from a gain setting that the heli doesn't like. There should be instructions for dialing in the gain in the manual. It takes some trial and error.
I just ordered in this helicopter combo kit, I'm local and just seen this flying field on the AMA site, is it still open. Nice run down and review on the 470, I got some tips from this video. Which model is this rx you use. Thanks james
