So far I'm very happy with the included Microbeast FBL system and the ESC that comes in the super combo kit. I've had a lot of people recommend an Ikon2/Brain2 FBL system for it and in the future I plan on trying a Brain2 on the 550X so I can have a feel for both as I've never tried a Brain, but so far I'm VERY happy with this amazing machine! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hey King Fam! I just got my RX to connect with my MicroBeastX Plus last friday. Went through the manual for the MB+, took my time, and the instructions are pretty good! Choosing the correct letter and then setting parameters was scary when I first read it, then when putting into action, was quite user friendly. The MB+ didn't want to auto recognize the RX first try, but I missed a wire. I'm using a Spectrum AR8020T also. Enjoyed this vid. I picked up some pointers from you. Thanks ! PM if you want!
I'm glad yours is going good, I'm going to hopefully finish mine today and honestly, I'm a little nervous about it programing the MB+ but I've been studying for it so it should go good. Like you said reading it looks crazy but once I put it into action hopefully it makes more sense. I'm glad the video helped ya a little bit. If I get stuck I'll msg you, Thanks! If all goes good I should be able to maiden her this weekend! Woohoo!!
@@kingfamilyrc5376 HAHA too funny! It seems we are in a "friendly race" to see who maidens first! I had an opportunity to do some jobs out of town, soooo...My build is on "on hold". I noticed I had a good amount of vibration from my bird when I'd spool up w/o blades. I removed the entire tail boom, and there was no change. So I assume it's the meshing of the gears on the main gear and the motor. Before reassembly, I thought, "maybe I moved my torque tube bearing during assembly, but it's on the mark. The TT is "tight" end to end, in the two gearboxes, so I assume, it is supposed to be?!?!?! I assembled mine different. I placed the bearing at 6.5cm off center to account for harmonic resonance at the bearing, in the tailboom. As far as maidens... I predict you'll go first! Hope so! All the best !
With your build on hold then I have a good chance to win then! Hahaha! My build went good today and I believe it is done and ready!! I hope it's right, everything moves the way it should so I think I'm good. I also spooled up with my blades off and I didn't have vibration but I had a lot of noise, I almost took my boom off also but when I tried it with the blades on it sounded a lot better, I'm guessing the extra drag on the gears help smooth things out, I think it's ok, it's also my first torque tube and the sounds are all different. I think you're right on the TT bearing, I think it was supposed to be off center a bit but I think it's gunna be fine for a while. We're planning on going out this Thursday for the maiden! Hopefully you're not out of town for too long so you can get back to your build! Good Luck with your jobs!
So I’m working on the main rotor gear. I have to add the swash links. I test fit everything and I’m curious how “free” the rotation should be with the blades? I don’t feel like my torque tube is loose enough. Should it spin freely without the main blades? I’m a noob like you were at this point and I’m just figuring out what feels right. My 300x has a belt so it’s a totally different feel.
It is a very different feel! I was worried about mine at first as well, it felt like something was slightly bound up or dragging because it wouldn't freely spin like my 330X. Especially without the blades on it feels very stiff compared to my 330X for sure. I checked over it many times, I believe it is just how the torque tube feels, I've never had an issue with anything, I have no noise, I have felt everywhere I could after a flight and felt no heat from anywhere nor have I had any abnormal wear on anything. Such a great heli and I have no complaints! I'd be happy to help if you have any more questions! Good luck with the build and happy flying!!
Thank you! And I got the build/repair towel at HeliDirect, I'll try to link it. www.helidirect.com/products/align-repair-towel#:~:text=This%20is%20a%20nice%20towel%20to%20catch%20small%20bits%20and Hopefully this link works. Thanks again and happy flying!!
Thank you! I would love a 700 or 800 someday! This 550 still seems huge to me! I've only ever seen a couple 700 in real life, never seen an 800 in person, I bet it's amazing!
