The way she dances is so lovely and controlled. I just love how the background remains so still, as of she's a figure in a painting come to life and the rest of the figures are frozen in time. And the costumes are just perfection.
I watched so many great dancers do this variation but I always come back here. Alina definitely performs this best. I don’t think even Alina herself could replicate how perfect this particular performance is!
This performance in particular is the best variation ever!! I come back time and time again just to relive this moment. I honestly don’t think anyone can dance this variation better, not even Alina herself!
Absolutely stunning. Nobody surpasses her in this gorgeous variation. It’s almost as if it was choreographed for her. Out of all the Principals at Mariinsky there is something so special about Alina. Her beautiful face and her exquisite musicality. Such a pleasure to watch. If you see baby Alina in videos from her classes at Vaganova you can see how her face and poise already caught your eye. A true artist and a joy to watch.
Damn i was so excited. Finally! A fairly simple (ish) variation that I could totally do as an intermediate ballet student and a not-quite beginner en pointe... and then the Italian fouettes at the end. EPIC tears.
There is an easy substitute of italian fouettes you could do tho! you can simply do these penche-ish arabesques towards left and right repeatedly. I have seen that in place of Italian fouettes in many dancers.
This is a fiendishly difficult variation, and for me, Alina Somova and Alice Letestu do it best. But yes, I’ve seen a video of Yulia Stepanova where she replaces the Italian fouettés with the penche-ish arabesques. That’s cheating in my opinion. 🤨 😉
OLTREMODO BRAVA. BIGHIN GIULIO RENZO
