Alison Arngrim sits down with me to talk about being known as the bully in her acting career and how it launched her one woman show and her New York Times best selling book titled "Confessions of a Prairie Bitch, How I survived Nellie Oleson and learned to Love being Hated. Alison had a rough upbringing in real life, we will discuss her feelings that it was difficult to have fame at such a young age (11), how she overcame an abusive childhood marked by physical violence and incest. Alison has accepted the role of activist, serving as Board Member and Spokesperson for The National Association to Protect Children (PROTECT.org). Alison recently testified before the CA State Senate in support of Senate Bill 145 by Sen. Fran Pavley (D-Agoura Hills), which would raise the maximum penalty for the most egregious child pornography offenders. Her compelling testimony helped to secure the votes necessary to pass the legislation. I will talk with her about my father and how he could have been Michael Landon's doppleganger. We will also talk about her coming to the Working Women's Show in St Charles February 16th-18th.

That’s funny about the turkey. I don’t do any of that stuff in my family raves about my turkey. Of course my dad was a chef. I learned everything from him. I actually learned the technique from Martha Stewart. Were you start the turkey out in a very very hot oven for an hour, and then you turn it way down low and you do not open the oven because you’re letting heat out every time you open the oven

10:28 - THIS, I think is the Laura & Nellie battle I liked the most - then I think Laura spikes the food that Nellie has with Zaldamo, and the hell she goes through. Later on, she demands an apology - "What do you expect me to BEG you to forgive me?" "YES! BEG me to forgive you!" I'd love to say that to somebody.

My God - HER as Mary Ingalls - that would've been interesting to see, but I think I'd rather hear Arngrim go on about "she stu-stu-stu-stu-STUTTERS" than "PA! HELP ME! I CAN'T SEE!" Yes, the show was well cast. What's also interesting is that I didn't even watch it very often, but hearing about the grown-up girls over time and reading their books, watching their interviews, seeing truly individual and diverse (the right definition) personalities and acting styles come together to make this incredible hit series. So now I watch the occasional rerun in which I hear something cool happens, and it's usually with ARNGRIM. I can watch her being interviewed a million times and hear the same stories over and over again because that's how charismatic and entertaining she really is.

You are so right about the bullies. I’m 65 years old and I was bullied when I lived in California. Across from my school was a family that was very odd. Very poor and very mean. They would beat me up all the time they knocked my bike over and stomped on it. One time I think maybe two times. My mom had to call the cops because by the time I got home I was covered in bruises, I don’t know that anything ever happened to them but I found out many many years later that one of them killed. Somebody murdered somebody and I never did find out the story. I’ve tried to find it but I’ve never been able to because that would’ve been probably the 70s and I was gone by then.

@@TheRealMonicaAdams aww ty. They scared me. One time the girl my age came down the road to my house. She was starting to get angry with me and I tried to offer a game and to play to distract her. I was so scared.

I can relate to the high blood pressure, low blood pressure comment. My mother has had high blood pressure for years. She was in an abusive marriage with my dad. He was verbally abusive and my mom never spoke out never lost her temper never ever let her feelings show and here’s me just like my dad attitude anger issues, and I have always had perfect blood pressure and I always used to tell my mom mom if you wouldn’t keep it in you wouldn’t have high blood pressure you need to let it out. But it is so not like her, she’s just a quiet, calm person that takes everything internally. She was always walking on eggs with my dad. He wasn’t physically abusive. Except to my brother.

If you put hair on that man, your father, I can see it. He could be Michael Landon’s brother.

I was bullied because of my last name but mostly because I had to wear glasses and my speech impediment and I hate bullies because of that reason I liked it when you were being taught how to cook by percival and he pours the eggs over nellies head and u as Nellie start to be nice
