Sorry but ya can't knock The Beatles -------- for as short of a time they were together --------- they gave a lot to music -------- but ---------- BG's were fantastic too
The Beatles are legend, but I want to listen to the BeeGees songs more often than I want to listen to the Beatles' songs. Everyone has a right to their own opinion.
This is one of those early songs where Barry and Robin’s voices sounded like one voice then went to harmony and back to sounding like one voice again! Loved when they do this! This is an incredible ability these brothers had. And then there’s Maurice who steps in with that third harmony just at the right moment! Wow! Then those lyrics!! So beautiful! Genius!
Actually this is just Barry & Mo and was also written by them, with no participation from Robin. It's the audio from original studio version....dubbed over the video from Johnny Carson's show.
Beautiful song, wonderful words and tune. Maurice on the piano...beautiful, so talented. Robin was so young, love his hair! He and Barry, perfect harmony. And Barry...such a beautiful voice. I'm like the others and wonder why this song wasn't a hit and sung more often.
I just can't figure that one out! I think it is one of their very best. ""It Doesn't Matter Much To Me", also! #GibbBarry does it better than the Beatles.
@@kaythomas8521 Agree. Robin just radiated Gorgeousness here! But I've always though Robin was beautiful. From his very early days and yes, even right up to the end when he became so very frail and sick. Those soulful eyes and his smile never changed.
Barry was 26 here and hot as hell. This song is amazing and quite unbelievable. Barry said he does not remember writing this song for whatever reason he just forgot doing it. I found that to be very interesting and odd. Maybe he took some drugs as he did admit to doing some in a lower capacity than most musicians. Anyway, it is a great and beautiful song. I love Barry and he is a genius musician and song writer. He and his brothers harmonized very well together and were way better than the Beatles ever.
Only Barry & Mo singing on this! Barry admitted to doing drugs in a lower capacity than most musicians? Do you know what most were doing in the 70's?! Good grief!
@@kthorYes. He was definitely a little out of it in that video. His eyes seemed a little hazy around the edges, in a sense. You can even see the smoke wafting around him.
@@TWarinerWhat the heck does wafting mean?! Now I gotta look that one up! This keeps autocorrecting on me, going to rafting! But WAFTING is what I keep typing!
It's just Barry & Mo singing on this. They also wrote it & recorded it without Robin, so this is the original studio audio dubbed over this particular video.
During this performance on Johnny Carson, they're singing to the backing track, which is just Barry & Mo. Robin wasn't involved in the singing or writing.
Robin's not singing on this as this is original studio audio (with just Barry & Mo) dubbed over the video from Johnny Carson's show. It was also written by Barry & Mo.
Another fantastic composition and performance from the "To Whom It May Concern" album. I guess this was the last "traditional" Bee Gees single before they "re-invented" themselves with "Main Course."
Yes, one of their last "big epic ballad singles" prior to disco era - Main Course - in 1975. Their string of Lps and singles covering Cucumber Castle in 1969 to Mr Natural in 1974 is my favourite period of the Bee Gees. However , I love it all from their early 1960s Australian recordings - pre international fame through to their final studio album 2001's " this is where I came in"
A song full of life and hope, characteristic of the Bee Gees. Barry the big brother did not yet know that he would take Robin and Maurice so far in the success. But for now he was putting all his heart ... and his guts into it. (Stomach) 🎶🎸♥️❤👍🌠 Tôn Nữ 👸 Vy
Robin and Maurice deffo had put there work in .All of them made the 🐝🐝🐝Gees what they were which was Amazing no other group like them 🐝🐝🐝Gees 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I totally agree with you. I'm talking about the beginning when the twins were young Barry the elder made the decision to be famous as a singer and took his brothers on this journey. (I am stranger and maybe not have a good english.sorry). Tôn Nữ Tường Vi.👸
Barry was the mastermind behind their songwriting & sound! This song is a fine example, which was written by Barry with input from Mo. It's also just Barry & Mo on vocals, as they're singing to the backing track, which Robin never sang on.
@@donnakilpatrick2117 Hi Donna. This video combines the video from Johnny Carson with the studio audio, which didn't feature Robin. So anything you're enjoying here is just Barry.
@@ambitiouspants This is one of my favorite Bee Gee tracks. I absolutely adore Barry’s vocals on this. It’s also one of my favorite albums. This is Barry and Mo, Rob’s not on here. Another one of my fav Barry tracks, writing and vocals, is “Don’t Wanna Live Inside Myself”. I love the version in Central Park where Rob takes the verse usually song by Baz, “I have met the jaded tiger and every tiger knows my name”. Rob eats that verse and spits it out. Robin can bring tears to my eyes. I don’t know why people get in their feelings because a compliment is given to one of the brothers. It’s so stupid!
Sir Barry's the second most successful songwriter in music history, after Sir Paul McCartney. About 75-80% of the songs he's written were with Robin and/or Mo. And Robin's 3 "solo albums" in the 80's were all written with Mo, & 1/3 of them by Barry.😉
Evanuzia, no início dos anos setenta eu ouvia esta e outras românticas num gravador. Adorava ficar sozinho e muitas vezes eu repetia as músicas três ou quatro vezes. Para quem gosta do estilo, na fita também tinha: Bread - Just like yesterday Lobo - Don't spect to me to be your friend
Of the 350 plus songs written by the best band in the world THE BEE GEES, I luckily have most of them, this one is one of the most precious and underrated ones. GIBB BROTHERS, simple THE MUSICAL GENIUS OF THE XX and plus century. What a pretty song.
This beautiful song of the Bee gees, is among my favorites. But it was so underrated that even many fans are unaware. Maybe that's why they didn't include her again in her live repertoire. The video edition is very good.
This song debuted on the Hot 100 at 63, a very high debut, and raced into the Top 40 in Week 3 at 37, then stalled at 34. Kind of an odd chart run to start out with so much momentum and lose it so quickly. Great song, definitely underrated.
They had too many underrated ..songs. Too much bias goin on against them. Altho. So many other bands happening at the same time...I guess I really didn't discover them until. SNF.....but their early. 70's. Stuff was pretty good. Plus. Robin was at his peak then. Up until 1980. After that he looked liked he aged about 10 years in less than two years time
you are right. it was always so much ego stuff going on between Robin and Barry. Mo always said his main role in group was being peacemaker between the two brothers. yes, they made beautiful magical music as musicians in a group but they were brothers first.
No, he was very serious about seeing his main role in the band being peace maker between his other two brothers. Barry and Robin's fights are legendary and Mo was a huge positive influence on both of them not killing each other at times. As fans we saw them as the Bee Gees first but they saw themselves as brothers and family first which anyone with siblings can relate to. It is a reason why Barry said it was big fun being in a band but it was a lot harder being a brother in a band. Google Barry Gibb quotes and u will see some of his quotes along with his brothers quotes.
I agree with you 100% that was not his greatest contribution. He was a master at finding a way to blend his vocals with brothers, a master at using all of the musical instruments, a master at directing other people who played with them, a delightful all around entertainer etc. I was just trying to say that from what I heard him say on interviews that HE considered his number one role to be the brother to keep the peace between the other two brothers when greatly needed. Barry always said that they were a family business.
hon potaski Do you mean 2016 New Year Morning? Please don't make time go faster than it already does - ha ha. What a lovely way to bring in the New Year. Hope it is a really good one for you, Hon.

I agree.....he looked the BEST here. (Between his many looks). Out of the 50 years of being a BeeGee. Plus love their voices here. Far better than the virbratto and falsetto. ... I always loved Robin in his Twenties ...thought he was 🔥🔥🔥🔥
TIFF TIFF HERE LEADING THE BEE GEES ARMY THESE BROTHERS ARE JUST EVERY THING MAN MAURICE IS A GIFT WHEN IT CAME TO INSTRUMENTS AND BARRY WAS A GIFT WHEN IT CAME TO SONG WRITING AND SINGING AND WELL MY BABY ROBIN WAS AND IS A GIFT PERIOD ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
