ALK 101: A Five Part Series

Navigating the uncharted waters of a cancer diagnosis can be an overwhelming and daunting task for patients and care partners alike. ALK 101 is a five part series that seeks to provide the information necessary to make you an informed partner in your cancer care. The ALK 101 series was created to serve as a guide to educate and empower patients and care partners through all phases of cancer.
Part 1: I’ve Just Been Diagnosed with ALK Positive Cancer explores receiving an ALK-positive diagnosis- what that means and what critical steps are necessary to ensure best possible outcomes.
Part 2: Assembling and Managing Your Health Care Team discusses the key players required to have a well rounded care team during all phases of your cancer journey.
Part 3: Cancer Lingo- What Does It All Mean?! serves as an aide in understanding the terminology necessary to communicate effectively with your health care team and make informed decisions in your care. This session is a foundation for terms and topics further explored in ALK 101 Parts 4 and 5. Viewing ALK 101 Parts 1 and 2 prior to this session will maximize the effectiveness of this talk.
Part 4: I've Progressed, Now What?! will review types of progression and key steps that are imperative to make informed decisions during this frightening phase of cancer.
Part 5: Life After Lorlatinib will examine treatment options available after all FDA approved TKI’s are exhausted, where to find these options and what this care might look like.
April 16th, 2023 ALKtALK launched Part 3 of the ALK 101 series. View to watch Dr. Colin Barton, seven year ALK-positive patient and founder of ALK Positive, Inc.'s multiple medical committees, walk patients and care partners through critical information needed to be an informed and empowered patient. This talk is everything ALK-positive patients wished they knew upon diagnosis and everything newly diagnosed patients need to know now. Following the talk there is a Question and Answer session.
