It should be noted that Frieren did not just chill around in the forest for the entire time between Flamme's death and when she joined Himmel's party. Her holy emblem was already ancient and not recognized by Himmel and the others, so she must have done something remarkable enough to earn it, in the time before she met Himmel. We also learn in the manga later that at some point in her past, before she met Himmel, she fought, and lost, to Macht, and that it took her several centuries to fully reverse the consequences of losing that duel.
@@neerajcherukuri4052 is that confirmed in the manga? Doesn’t make much sense she would be able to kill more demons than anyone else in history in 80 years
I think it "only" took her 100 years to undo Diagoldze, but she like spent the next 500 years doing nothing if im correct, so basicaly macht traumatized her and it took HIMmel to make her fight demons again, I could be wrong tho
@@Lucas_Rangel IIRC, in the manga at the start of the El Dorado Arc, Frieren is offered a very rare grimoire as payment for helping deal with Macht, but the moment she heard it was Macht she went like "nope, can't do. Take your grimoire back." So yeah, she was utterly terrified of Macht.
Lernen apparently specializes in making Golems, since it was said that he made the Golems that protected the test takers in the second phase of the exam, and Serie envisioned him making Golems when she talked about remembering her students' favorite spells.
my question is why he didn't simply copy the way it's pronounced in the show... the english dub does a pretty good job at pronouncing the names, and i'm sure the japanese would at least be a little better
Small correction: Ehre is the one who is a granddaughter of a First Class mage (granddaughter of Lernen, specifically). Edel does come from a family of mages too though, and they do specialize in mental magic.
Id like to note that mithode is also the only mage we've seen attack via her shield spell. When the gargoyle attacked her shield, she was able to essentially take control of the attack and use it against her attacker
@@Woaquin omg your right. I thought it was stated that it couldn't be done though? Maybe it's more that it hasn't been figured out yet? Or that this could be part of the whole "human era" thing. Idk
ubel cutting spell is wildly powerful in that age. and the only reason why it does cut through defensive magic is bec she is trained as a mage to see defensive magic as defensive. thus strong against offensive magic. she absolutely could mold her spell into imagining cutting through the "seams" of the spell. if i had to wager a guess.
serie didnt kill DK since she herself is a warmonger and cant visualize herself ending a war. also laufen has other spells, she could extend her staff and probably enhances her physical capabilities with magic
Serie didn't kill DK simply because she couldn't, no individual is able to defeat the DK, that's why it took a team to beat him. Serie is unable to work with others like Frieren did.
@@salt7532 The DK doesn't fight alone. He has an army of powerful Demons serving him. Some of whom specialize as melee warriors. We are explicitly told later in the manga that a sufficiently skilled warrior can be a serious threat to a lone mage, and even Serie can be vulnerable to being rush attacked by a warrior and killed before she has time to react and cast a spell. Serie might be strong enough to beat the DK in a one on one magical duel, but without a well balanced party to support her, she would never be able to fight her way through the DK's army and all his various powerful subordinates to get to him.
Watching this video made me realize that the Elves in Frieren are weird. In a good way. They are very aloof and stoic in comparison to humans yet they have so many childish tendencies. They see the bigger picture yet fail to understand how to properly put the pieces in place to make it work. This show does a good job to make Elves feel very different from humans. So much media portrays Elves as human but prettier when in actually they should always be portrayed as a separate race. Another point for Frieren.👍👍
That’s pretty much all the anime showed 😂, I think it’s safe to assume he was pretty cocky and mainly focused on defensive magic his whole life, also he didn’t seem too strong since he couldn’t really tell how much of a threat Ubel was
One thing from the manga and from what I’ve gathered about Frieren is that she’s also very adept at magic inspection. Most likely because she studied under Flame and that’s what she was also really good at. Examples being her analysis of the dom in the first class test. And SPOILERS. When she was able to deconstruct the gold curse.
For serie i interpreted as this. Why she didn’t kill the demon king ? She didn’t want / couldn’t cuz she cant imagining herself living in a peacfull era for why she disliked the idea of why humans shouldn’t learn magic is imo like teaching kids quantum mechanics but they would never survive past the age of 6 so in her eyes all what they could learn in that short amount of time would never be of help in her problems they could learn simple math and other things but it would be a waste of time (atleast that how i interpreted her unwillingness to teach humans at the start cuz most humans cant do it but if one has the talent in her eyes she will do it)
10:02 no, she isn't the only one. Frieren also uses that book a little, and it is said that any mage can use holy book, just far less efficently then priests (because it is said it takes some special talent to be a priest, and (my headcanon) I suppose mages don't really bother training using the book)
i loved Lawine and Kanne. at a glance their designs make them look like fire and ice. Blue eyes, grey hair and red eyes and ginger hair. But they turn out to have completely compatible magic styles. cool character design.
This is a theory, but I actually believe Lernen knows Serie is suppressing her mana, and just hasn't brought it up to her because he doesn't believe its his place to question the things she does.
Fern is my favorite mage because she did a sidestep dodge soaring up into the air away from Lügner’s blood magic and then dismantled him from there. Her first time in combat with a demon btw. (Fair if you want to count securing Granat, but that was more altercation than combat imo)
Serie is chaotic neutral. She is not actively trying to create a world of pure caos (probably because of too much effort in doing that) but she prefers that kind of state. That's why she allowed the Demon King to do his shit.
Not gonna lie, when I check the latest release I missed, some characters that were introduced in the empire arc means that they might be strong mages or other class since they have the goal of assassinating a certain individual.
Calling that ability the height of magic shows a complete misunderstanding of its nature. It's not a spell or magic at all. It's just throwing mana like a rock.
We don’t know that that is what the spells is doing, Fern (who has very advanced mana detection as evidenced by the fact she could tell Serie was surprising her mana) could not perceive it as magic or a spell, it did however involve a visible magic circle and is implied to have been used in the battle with the demon king.
Isn't frieren closer to 1500 because when flamma found her she was probably already a few hundred years old then 1080-1130 years later this story occurs
I don't think the height of magic is even a spell. My headcannon is that Frieren is so strong that she can just push her mana into an oponent and thats why fern didn't recognise it as a spell
Sense may be a pacifist, but to be a pacifist you still need to defend yourself, and the best defense is a good offense I know it's a stretch but that's what i think lol
Idk if it's called that later in the series but I don't think the force attack she used again fern is called "height of magic" rather I interpreted Ferns words to mean "so this is what is possible for a truly experienced mage"
