All 30 Killers Ranked Least to Most Scary to Face in Gameplay! (Dead by Daylight Killer Tier List)

Hey everyone, today we’re ranking the killers from least to most scary, based on their in-game gameplay, and how scary it is to face them within a trial, for the player. This idea was suggested by someone in my Discord, so thank you to them. We’re going to judge this on how often they cause jump scares, the anticipation, paranoia, or general fear they cause within the match, and also things such as atmosphere, sounds, and the overall presence felt when being chased by the character. For this we have four tiers. Not scary at all, Occasionally scary, Often scary, and Almost always scary tier. Let’s get into it.

You can pull that off by 1: bringing an indoor map 2: bringing insidious 3: using the add ons that make the fake doctors last for longer. 4: kick a gen with call of brine or overcharge and stand next to it. Nine times out of ten, survivors think you're a hallucination and not the real deal.

Wesker main here (also I've played off a lot of Weskers while on Survivor): I don't find *him* scary per se, but his terror radius can be paranoia-inducing. Also, seeing him with the STARS cosmetic is somehow scarier than seeing him in his usual get up that makes him look like a bad Matrix cosplayer. I was a bit surprised when it was leaked and later announced that he'd be the chapter 25 killer, as he's less of a horror villain (even though his actions and intentions and especially his backstory are terrifying) and more of a sci-fi villain.

Getting found first by Bubba is the scariest thing in this game. The adrenaline as you run away from him, knowing that if he catches you, there is a good chance you don't get to play for the rest of the match. The chances of that happening only increases the longer you run him. Never anger the Bubbz

The scariest part about Ghostface is when you're working on a gen and then hearing the floating tassles rustle around, knowing it's already too late to run and you're guaranteed going to be hit.

I think both Pyramidhead and Deathslinger get slept on when it comes to chase. As soon as you hear them prepping their weapon to strike, you just feel this sudden need to dodge and get away in a rush! Poor Dredge, he came and went despite being an anniversary killer. Can't believe some would still call Ghostface the biggest leak of all time when the entirety of year 6 was spoiled. Three whole chapters leaked. Dang.

Playing against Demo and Oni were scary to play against when I first started simply because of how loud their footsteps were. The fact that you could hear them coming definitely added to the ambience

Oni should have been higher. It is pretty scary when you just hear a terrifying roar from somewhere in the trial. And also the fact he is super fast and can insta-down, so theres basically no escape if the killer is good

Dredge has genuinely terrified me multiple times in game. I remember running around on Midwich and once I fell down the hole upstairs to the main door, Dredge followed up after jumping out of a locker, and landed on my head. My heart jumped out of my chest and I shouted when he came down on me. Lol

The few things that still keep my heart racing in this game: 1] Hearing a chainsaw in the distance. If it's a Bubba, there is a strong chance of someone getting facecamped. If it's a Billy? It has a solid chance of being a chainsaw only curve master. 2] Seeing a red ring appear suddenly on the portrait of a teammate or, heaven forbid, you. Ghostface is the scariest Killer in the game for me. No other Killer causes me the same degree of panic as when I suddenly get exposed by the Ghostface from an angle that I cannot even see him from. 3] Getting a map with tall grass against a Trapper. 4] Hearing Oni's roar from a distance and then seeing a speedy red blur rapidly approach you as you work on a gen in the middle of a dead zone.

I think demogorgon is horrifying. The sounds it makes that are map wide are so scary. It, Myers, Ghostface, Dredge, and Pinhead are the only scary killers for me.

I personally would put Twins in the Often Scary tier. Mainly due to the anxiety of running into Charlotte when she's dormant, and not knowing when she'll be back lol

I personally agree with the Shape being top tier. More based on(like you said)the fact that they are using a normal fair build or one that is really hard to counter. Just last night when I was in a SWF with one other person, we were going against the shape, and how I knew he was near our generator was his breathing. That actually freaked me out that I unintentionally ran to a corner. Everyone wondered why I ran in a panic so early

I think I would move Demo a bit higher, mainly because I’ve actually jumpscared people using his stealth. There’s also an addon that lets you see the auras of survivors when you traverse through the portals, which definitely can catch some people off guard.

I find artist kinda scary actually. The raven screams from her power going on in the distance are very intimidating and give a lot of anticipation. The clown is also one i find particularly scary as well, purerly because of his terror radius music. It´s really scary staying in his terror radius or hearing it increase in intensity as he gets closer to you, and I really like it.

I’d switch Oni and Pyramid Head with Nurse and Doctor. When I was a newbie to the game, Oni and Pyramid Head IMO were the scariest, both visually and sound wise. Something about a fully charged Oni heading your way always gave me chills. Doctor and Nurse are just flat out annoying. Whenever I hear her scream or get shocked by the doc, I just immediately get pissed off and know the match isn’t going to be fun.

Surprised that Ghostface isn't 2nd place lmao. As a Ghostie main, I've jumpscared so many survivors just by appearing from nowhere. A fun example I have is when I was on Midwich and exposed someone from a window to which they jumped through out of fear after blowing up a generator. I wish I could see the person's reaction when I downed them without needing to chase them

Ghostface is a killer that has me paranoid over ever crow and the black drops on eerie of crows in my peripheral vision. Heavy paranoia lol. I know he's not strong in Chase which helps. Oni is probably the killer who scared me the most when I first started playing and the game really had me scared. He was extremely intimidating to me. Spirit always creeped me out with her noises and unnatural movements. And yes scratched mirror myers will forever be the scariest killer to me next to dredge in nightfall. Dude before Haddonfield rework, I was Oni. The Survivor went to go save their teammate off the hook from down in the basement. As both of them were going to come up the stairs, I was waiting for them at the top - waiting to enrage. As soon as I saw them coming up, I enraged, and they ran right back down the stairs. Thank you for including my video idea! I would personally place Demogorgon over Legion because of its loud map-wide sound effects, having undetectable + inflicting oblivious on survivors with its portals, and being able to shred at survivors immediately after exiting a portal.

I would rate Oni and Pyramid Head higher on the list📜 Oni is this terrifying strong Ancient being that slaughters everyone and anything in his path, and he doesn’t show up that often in match’s, and as he gets closer the terror radius becomes more intimidating And unsettling, and once he enters Blood Fury then things start to get way more terrifying, as your options are limited when you’re in his pursue! Pyramid Head Is a humanoid creature that isn’t human at all, And his sole purpose is to inflict punishment through pain Quite literally, And as he begins chasing you, You are given this unwelcoming feeling as he simply chases you, wanting you dead, And will stop at nothing until he manages kill you since he’s an executioner! (I would rate these 2 killers higher in my opinion)

When Doctor is using his addon that gives you a red stain + his terror radius music right on you (I play him sometimes and I cannot remember which one of his endless byzantine addons it is lol), that definitely scares me. I will say that Demogorgon was super scary to me in the ptb because you could feel that power. Wesker can be scary when undetectable because he’s pretty quiet and can pass for a survivor if you’re not paying attention. Plague is gross, especially that one skin where she has live maggots eating her.

Just the status effect Undetectable/Oblivious should be it’s own tier. Working on a gen only to have a silent Billy or Oni one-shot or grab you, not only makes you jump but makes you paranoid about throwing the game for your teammates.

I've recently being playing a lot of Dredge and the amount of people I've surprised with his abilities have been great fun. Between locker jumping, remnant to break loops or accidentally grabbing someone as they touch the locker you are going to. The noise of the Dredge scratching on the locker is creepy too. Had some karma and played against one as a survivor. And sheesh terrifying. No thank you XD

Tbh I have been jump scared by dredge just as much as scratched mirror Myers. Like one time I was running away from a dredge out of the Thompson house, I escape the chase by running out of its terror radius, and thought I was safe. As I run to the killer shack to finish a Gen I got chased off of, the dredge, just mere inches from my character model just bursts out of the locker before it’s terror radius could even play. It’s still the worst jump scare I’ve had regarding the dredge.

The killers I've been scared when going up against, Twins: it was my first and only time facing them and the sound when Victor jumps out was terrifying, Nemesis, Demogorgon: he teleported and ate my ass,. Oni: Ran from one side of RPD to the other and beat me with the kanabo then did a mori,. Dredge.

Since you put him at the top, I think it's funny how I have an obsession with Myers in terms of his character like-ability and fear of the unknown. He's the killer I would say is the greatest horror character ever created, but he's also the one character I fear the most. Also, I absolutely need to put Trickster at the bottom of the list. Every time I face him, I audibly groan out of annoyance. I still can't believe they added a Kpop killer of all things.

Can you make a tier list of killer (walking) animations? I think it should focus on how they move but i also think the lobby animations can provide some personality - such as dredge with the horse slopping out of it (🤮) or clown with his wheezing and mouth lazily half open as he turns his head and surveys the campfire

Actually facing Wesker or Nemmy is a bit too scary for me. Mostly because Nemesis's tentacle from Survivors' POV is quite weird and always feels like *extendedly long*, his zombies are always nearby and you can't do gens of that if you forgot the flashlight. Wesker has this 40 meters terror radius. Plus I still has flashbacks from him ending me in 1 shot in RE5 (which he can do nice in DBD as well)

I don't play survivor much but back in 2016 everyone used to be scared of the killers, but now once you tell yourself that it's just another player the fear's just completely gone, imo Doctor is the one who still holds it up because his laugh and fake Doctors always manage to get a good scare from me lol Edit: I think Ghostie is well deserved to be called scary because i always get a mini-heart attack when someone gets exposed knowing that when i'm working on a gen he could be anywhere now stalking me and expose me, i never managed to escape from a Ghostface tbh

Honestly i love knights guards, they all have awesome sounds. The jailer (guy with the burning iron thing) just laughs like an absolute maniac, the craziest laugh in the game. The big one that chases you for longer just makes hilarious grunts and yells. The assassin is the only boring one tbh

Trickster's always scared me to go against just by the fact he laughs and hums nursery rhymes randomly throughout trials, his chase music and his lore. He's one of the most human killers in the game, had the least help from the entity with his power when joining the realm and uses his own chase music when pursuing survivors. It goes to show how narcissistic he is, plus the fact he created the music from his victim's screams when torturing them, the dude has scared me from the beginning.

Deathslinger has the best terror radius music IMO and also the sound that plays when he is looking at you down a scope is scary

Wesker is ironically the Killer that scares me the most. I usually have nerves of steel but against him I become an anxious mess. I hate it when he dashes at me, absolutely terrifying. But he's one of my favorite Killers to go against.

I agree. And scariest is Michsel with the dead rabbit add-on and Monitor and Abuse as Perk. Tier 2 and no Terrorradius outside of chase is very scary, just like infinite tier 3 with Bamboozle

I have actually scared someone as demogorgon once I was using the addone that let's you be undetectable for longer and grabbed them off the gen. At the end of the game they said that was the first time they actually jumped well facing demogorgon

I agree with the top 4 all very scary, I would maybe put Demo higher because he can jumpscare people even if he is adorable, wraith could maybe be a tier higher too because the cloak combined with the uncloak speed boost can really make his lunges terrifying. I feel like until Freddy and Sadako are in the always scary to face tier, their fantasy won't be fulfilled. Freddy should be scary in the nightmare realm (Also he should have a classic skin with voicelines) and Sadako needs to actually have looming pressure with condemn rather than being a teleport killer that you just loop forever because she has such a weak chase, dredge does what she does better which is sad...

I hate going against a ghostface because there are 2 types of ghostface players: the ones that are good and the ones that are just there to scare you.
