Listen man I know the Kobe 2s were crazy but as a middle school kid in that time we lovedddd those shoes. My 7th grade traveling team all had them. Or at least like 6 of us.
They were so ugly back in the day. I see a lot of people in the comments, giving them props because a lot of time has passed and plus Kobe passed away and he’s a legend and all that stuff. But if you went to school back in those days and rocked some Kobe twos you were getting clowned 😂
to add on to that during the 99-00 season he wore the Kobe 8 III's until the playoffs started, adidas decided to let Kobe try on the Kobe 1.. then in 00-01 season he wore the crazy 8s all season and during the playoffs.. then in the 01-02 season he wore the toaster shoes (kobe 2) till the playoffs started and went back to the crazy 1s. adidas made the unreleased crazy 3 for 02-03 season at this point he already left them..
Kobe definitely started the low top trend imo. Or made it more popular because growing up I never would dare wearing low tops till i saw Kobe play in them.

It's been said that Kobe didn't like the look or fit/feel while playing in the "Adidas: The Kobe Two" but once they introduced him to what would've been the "Adidas: The Kobe Three" he then decided to pay $8Million in order to buy his way out of the Adidas contract therefore joining the sneaker free agency in 2003 before later going on to sign with Nike.

I had Kobe 2 the toaster design bought by my sister, I use it when I was in college it's ok on denim pants but not on court is kinda dangerous so i never use it when I hoop.

Adidas dumped kobe after he was accused of raping a woman. After the case was dismissed and settled, adidas and nike offer deals to kobe and we know kobe took it personal so obviously he would choose nike over adidas.
