Violet: "boot" Mik: "boot" Violet: "actually, toot" Mik: "yeah same, toot" Violet: "nah, jk, boot" Mik: "girl, make up your mind so I can make up mine gorge"
Hot take: I don't mind Violet as a host, she's honest, she says what she thinks, she provides entertainment. As much as I love Mik it felt like she's in Violet's shadow and 90% of the times just agrees with what she says + Violet's and Mik's aesthetic seems to be very similar. Violet with someone who's not scare to disagree with her and has a different take on fashion would be a perfect pair (Sasha seems perfect for it)
agree with you, I’m ok with Violet but she needs a comedy queen as a pair, and tbh aside from Raja’s looks and Yvie’s knitting all those boots were RIGHT.
The reason violet’s harshness from that pitstop episode worked so well is because she had an opposite personality to bounce it off of. Mik is like you said, too in her shadow and too similar. If they paired her with someone nicer and more individual it would’ve worked way better
I agreed with 11 of these boots. The problem with Violet is that she gets hung up on a single detail of an entire look. That and the fact she doesn’t really appreciate stuff outside her own bubble. Gottmik is frankly boring when it comes to stuff like this. She never really brings other ideas to the table and just kinda goes with whatever Violet says. I think Utica would’ve done better with Violet because she understands fashion references while also being more alternative herself
"That and the fact she doesn’t really appreciate stuff outside her own bubble" Huh... didn't she shoot Raja's episode 4 spikes runway? Something she would never wear herself nor isn't her style lol? Didn't she also shoot Jaida's legendary legend look even though it was pagentry and it's not Violet's style? Pretty sure she Shea's episode 1 look was also a shoot (it was her nambian look something violet probably isn't allowed to wear) Also gave Shae's sunflower look a shoot (even tho it's not something either of them would wear) Lol if you're gonna say some BS disguised as your "opinion" make sure it literally makes sense? It's just ironic because you're giving them shit for their own opinions when yours is just objectively wrong.
“The problem with violet” no the problem is with you fans who can’t handle a fkn opinion, always complaining about every thing she says when she’s more qualified than any of us will ever be? How about watch the show, enjoy it and stfu
That’s it. She really doesn’t have a single compassion for people with different tastes. Not bad taste but even different tastes! I don’t agree with 40 percent of these boots
I’m fine with Violet judging it but she needs someone who will have different opinions and not just agree with everything. Another winner would’ve been better since it was a winners season so someone like Bianca, Aquaria, Sasha, Symone or Trixie I think would’ve been nice instead of Mik
@@eduardof7322 Symone is literally a fashion queen who had the best looks on her season and has worked with many high end designers since winning but slay I guess A queen doesn't need to be good at sewing to be a fashion queen. But you know that.
this video is very very out of context don't forget. That context being that so many of the looks were i n c r e d i b l e that season so in comparison...
I actually don’t mind Violet as a judge it’s a winner season and she’s going IN but Violet and Mik are too similar to make the show work. Raven and Raja work because Raja is unique, alternative, high fashion and loves stuff outside of the box while Raven is more polished, classy and traditional drag so we get a very wide range of opinions. Mik and Violet are kinda the same? change the mug and their styles are similar in aesthetic. I think it would work more if Mik was replaced with someone like Aquaria, Symone, Detox, Utica, Manila, Kim Chi, Crystal Methyd, Ra'Jah or even Sasha Velour they would definitely bounce back at Violet and have a new insight to the fpr panel
@@PrecociousFriand I meant traditional drag as in wanting to look feminine all the time and wanting the hourglass figure and a small waist while raja is more open to gender fluid drag
Can we stop presuming that drag excellence is embodied by Thierry Mugler silhouettes and Christian louboutin heels??. I think we can all agree that Raja exist in another realm of taste and flavor of high fashion which is just not understood by Violet and Gotmik. There is always going to be varying opinions of critiques I just wish fashion photo had a little bit more diversity as well as insightful comments. 😫
To be fair, Raja has her own blindspots and biases, and she's not always that respectful in her delivery. She and Raven have each booted many a look because they strongly disliked one element, or didn't get the reference or concept. They're frequently downright shady and self-important, and that's what the show is, and has always been, and it's what WOW knows will do numbers. We just don't like it when Raja's on the receiving end (or when Violet's dishing it out), but she kinda built this framework.
they're opinions are completely valid but it's so boring to watch people with mirrored opinions. raja and raven worked well together due to the fact they didn't always agree. it's nice to hear opposing views and ideas as opposed to an echoed opinion.
Violet is impossible to please. Her standards are in like out of space high. We all need to remember that drags roots are for expressing yourself, and you don't always need a Mugler dress.
@@andrewLoz But Ginger is also big and they don't make designer clothes in her size. Sadly. Just pointing out a Dior dress buying it isn't taste. I doubt Violet could design an entire line of clothes by herself. She'd fail.
What’s honestly really crazy is that they boot people for the smallest thing which doesn’t make sense. Another thing is ofc Mik just being a yes man and Violet not really appreciating a queen’s own fashion. I’m sure Bianca wouldn’t like half the things Violet or Mik wear but she’d still have enough sense to take a step back and realize that it doesn’t matter what she personally likes.
@@kabletelevision1559 Raven booting ankle straps seemed to be like a 'principle' thing to her. She consistently booted ankle straps, and it wasn't ankle straps one day and another thing the next, like Violet.
@l.acosta4739 she made a gorgeous look head to toe from a sleeping bag and gotmik showed up with bages wrapped around her, wheres the confusion if mik is on?
That’s why I liked Rajah and Shea as the fashion photo ruviewists, they actually offered constructive criticism into how the look could’ve been better rather than just “it needs a belt/different shoes”
@@beravurgun no it’s not a valid reason. They’re supposed to be judging these from an objective viewpoint based on mistakes or messy construction, not because they personally wouldn’t wear it, which is what Violet did most of the time.
@@beravurgun Yes you do, otherwise you're a hypocrite. Fortunately, Violet does look good, but I also feel she doesn't appeal to the queen's on the seasons type of fashion
Violet has a lot of fashion knowledge but what she’s missing is something that Raja always exuded on FPR and that is the appreciation for creativity and fun. I will miss Raja getting excited over a look just because it was something new or something she wished she had thought of. Sometimes looks can be exciting and good, even if they don’t have a perfect coat of polish. As far as Gotmik, honestly she just strikes me as a follower. Not saying she can’t form her own opinions, but she just gives major sidekick energy. Also kind of a poser :/ she talks all the time about how punk she is but then gets mad about Monet’s boots which I think we’re very punk and matched her punk look that week. Anyway I know this was kind of a mean comment and I’m usually not such a hater but oh well
I agree having Violet on as a straight foward, and her nitpicking an outfit is actually fun to see, and if she toots a looks that mean you really did a great great job. On the other hand another host along with her should be someone like Trixie. Imagine the dynamic of Trixie loving an outfit so much but right off the bat Violet just boot it, their chemistry is just so fun
I think Utica would’ve been a great balance to Violet. Obviously they don’t have a connection like Gottmik/Violet but Utica actually appreciates camp/alt drag while also understanding fashion references
At 3:15 when they were saying that Shea’s look was designer, you can tell they were hesitant to boot it. Like clearly they didn’t like it but where second guessing themselves based on the maker. They both just seem like the types of people that would say “if it’s not designer, I don’t want it” and I think that’s shallow. Also them booting Monet’s talent show look is a disgrace.
you definitely misinterpreted that. they were saying "its a full designer piece" in astonishment because you'd expect a designer piece to be good work but in their opinion, that look, was not good work.
According to this season, Monet has received the most boots while Jinkx has received the least. I tallied the amount of boots each queen has received from Violet and her echo...I mean Gottmik. Jaida: 5 Jinkx: 3 Monet: 14 Raja: 5 Shea: 9 The Vivienne: 12 Trinity: 9 Yvie: 12
Yeah, 'cause Jinkx has never been a looks queen , but she is hella talented in all other domains of drag: acting, comedy, singing, but lipsynching. They went soft on her, indeed, but it would have been hella discriminatory, actually, if they had booted almost all her runway looks. It's also very problematic to be demeaning Gottmik. She's a younger queen, fresh out of her season, and not a winner. What would have you done in her position, really?
Violet fans will be the first ones to defend her based on reputation, fame, “she won”, “who are you?” Etc. etc., Instead of logically exposing why the other person might be wrong. They feel entitled to hate everything they don’t agree with even if it is 100% from their own subjectivity, just like their queen.
Just because a look isnt corseted for the gods with large pads and isnt the popular definition of "beautiful" doesnt mean its a bad look you just are more apt to like a certain look but if you are judging others you have to be a little open minded which violet and mik didnt do. Raja and Raven were my faves of ffr because they werent so one track minded
@@icecoldghostgirl3192 y’all really thought she wants to quit drag after y’all hating on her bc of her opinions on about someone else’s outfits 😂 nobody gives a f. if you don’t like her or hating on her get a life
I’m curious if there’s enough winners to do a second season considering how many have said they don’t want to (then again, there’s always more and more winners and plus there’s the international winners). But they could always change their mind. I know that Violet has said she doesn’t want to though
looking back, the only boots I REALLY disagreed with were Raja's "I'm crowning" and blue and red snake looks, Yvie's yarn and finale cake looks, and Monet's talent show look. Everything else I didn't feel strongly about and can see why they booted
It’s so funny how after this everyone got a good hard look at mik and realized they’re a social climber. They did this to troll and nitpick, but when you think about it from a production standpoint, what were producers even thinking? Casting these two week after week to say every outfit was bad. Sort of a waste of money? And then they had to put everything behind a pay wall when fans reacted 😂
I don’t mind a harsh judge like Violet. Raven could sometimes act similar. But she needs to pair up with someone with a very different take on drag and who is not afraid to go against her. Love Mik but she is really just Violets little side kick
Violet buys expensive well made pieces. That isn't having taste. That's having $$$. And Gotmilk just repeats what she says. It's a boot for me. Or a bless.
She wears a corset and a black wig every time I think that her looks on her season weren't even that good other than hello kitty and the finale tbh ....
What I like about Raja and Raven is that even tho there is one bad thing in a look they still find the positives and give it a toot. These two could see a heel not being big enough and will boot the whole thing.
I will never get over them booting Raja’s I’m Crowning and Pleather looks. THE AUDACITY. I gasped and almost dropped my drink the first time I saw those outfits! Also I think them not understanding Monet’s fashion references for her tracksuit look is proof that they need more diversity amongst the hosts (I didn’t like the look but the reference is still clever & touching). 2 queens with the exact same fashion sense will never be as entertaining as 2 who see things from different perspectives and aren’t afraid to speak their minds!!
I believe fans had more of a issue with the way Violet was booting the queens looks this season. She came off a bit snobbish for this season's ruveal and GotMik was her yes man
@@Jacob42086 it was but still, Violet and Gotmik are out of pocket for some of the opinions they made especially towards the queens of color this season.
I hate Violet for forcing WOW to make Fashion Photo Review exclusive on their app. It was such a big part of Drag Race viewers like we watch the show, then untucked, then FFR, then Pit Stop and finally Watcha Packin.
@@safespacexx8699 death threats are a big no and are horrible. All queens face that. But if you talk the talk, you better walk the walk. She was more scared of being cancelled.
@@dennisvillaflor3359 cause maybe you don’t want people blasting you every week on social media. You’re acting like you don’t know how unserious twitter gets
My problem is violet doesn’t appreciate stuff that aren’t her style she would be better off if she was paired with a more alternative queen like sasha for example
I just disagree with booting Raja’s king look. I think if Violet heard what Raja was going for she might have actually given her a toot. That look was meant to look like a king. And the shoe and the stockings were exactly what she was going for. I did like Raja’s other look but I understand they didn’t like the pink/red part on her crotch. I was ok with it though.
I went through and counted every time I agreed with them, and ended up with 30/40; So honestly, I don't think that they did that bad of a job. The only time I really strongly disagreed was Raja's "Pleather Principle" look. That was iconic and I was very surprised that they booted that.
@@menjii4833 Yes, but there was only 40 looks overall, so out of those 40 I agreed with 30 of their opinions, making it 75% Again, it's just my personally opinion at the end of the day. I'm just trying to do a fair assessment on the situation because everyone seems to be criticising Violet and Mik for not doing a good job, when it seems to me that they didn't do that bad overall.
@@pandagrl666 maybe she thought hey were just regular boots idk but from a distance you can’t really tell they’re a reference to doc martens it’s just the yellow shoe strings that pop
So, if I counted right, this is the ranking of how many looks got at least one boot on FPR: Monet - 8 looks Viv and Yvie - 6 looks each Shea and Trinity - 5 looks each Raja - 4 looks Jaida - 3 looks Jinkx 👑 - 2 looks
@@Tony-mi2sf Let's see our differences to make it right lol About Yvie: I'm not counting the Knitted look for her bc they said Toot for the look and boot for the presentation. But yeah, there are seven technically. Jinkx has the Design and the Spikes looks (2). What's the other I'm missing? Jaida has the I'm Crowning, Veiled It and the Glowed Up looks (3). What's the other? And The Viv has the I'm Crowning, Veiled It, Design, What Lies Beneath, Glowed Up and Talent Show looks (6).
Idem.
Violet is not impossible to please, she's just unable to acknowledge aesthetics that are other than her own. Don't get me wrong, her fashion sense in her own way is impeccable. She is the Elie Saab, or Zuhair Murad or Giambattista Valli of drag, always exquisite, delicate, beautiful, stunning. But she lacks the madness, weirdness, gut and unconventionality that make, say, a McQueen or Galliano, and certainly she lacks the imagination, humbleness, and empathy that are important in a judge in aesthetics.
I think Violet and Katya were a good mix for this because they had different opinions but similar fashion points of view nonetheless and their humor together really softened the blow of things. It’s harder to swallow all the boots when there’s no jokes or humor about it.. and that’s also the fault of WOW because they made them film every episode in like two days which is just absolutely ridiculous.
I do appreciate Violet's honesty even if I really don't agree with her on certain things. The problem is that she doesn't have anyone to challenge her viewpoint and offer a different perspective. Like when Violet was with Katya I think it worked a lot better than with Gottmik. I love Gottmik but she _barely_ offered her own opinion and just seemed to agree with Violet on everything. I'd love to see Violet host alongside a more campy and/or crafty queen.
I don’t take seriously this after violet said that the shoes didn’t match with the monet punk outfit when it’s clearly a reference of the Dr martens and the yellow laces in the punk culture
Violet 😴 it seems that she tried to boot just to put herself in a certain “higher” position of untouchable fashion queen, because TBH there were sooooo many great looks booted that wasn’t any reason unless being mean or envy
The problem with mik and violet’s fashion knowledge is that it feels as tho it isn’t drag based. Which is not a bad thing but if you go on a show to criticize DRAG fashion/artistry you have to change your pov to accommodate what you’re judging. I love both their styles but like I said, I think the problem is that they take mainstream fashion as their pov when in reality they should be judging drag artistry and it’s relation to fashion. That’s why raven and raja are and have always been perfect hosts for this show because they have been able to judge the looks based on the drag and not fashion media.
No the problem is that fans of the show, who's only knowledge is "drag fashion" (read: RuPaul's drag race "fashion"), think they can invalidate the opinions of people. Raven used to boot people for wearing an ankle strap, until the fans started dragging Raja and Raven to the point of them not caring anymore.
These two are so insufferable. And Mik was literally funded by billionaires and designers on drag race. She has no place to talk because nothing she brought was designed, made or shopped for by herself.
I think ppl just didn’t like them bc they booted their faves😭ppl imploded anytime raja got a boot when some of her looks weren’t that good. Raja and Raven have been giving unprecedented ratings for years and no one has said a word
To be fair, people have been reading Raja (in particular) down for years for being too kind and giving too many toots. But honestly, it’s a free show on the internet that has no influence on the actual show…I wish people would just chill 😭
Girl...Raja did have lots of great runways but she had a couple misses this season. Veiled it, Olivia newton john waters, rupaul recreation outfit, lasers outfit (I didnt really like the actual outfit but the lasers were cool), and the Spikes one. But its all just my opinion soo...
Nah. I didn't like them because I didn't feel like they had discussions about it in the past. It legit felt like "bad shoes. Boot." "Costume-y. Boot." In the past, they discussed the good, the bad, and the hideous, and even JOKED about some of the garments to help deconstruct what took it down but this just didn't feel nearly as fun or interesting. TLDR: It's dry. Kinda like your vajoinah.
yes!!! if i'm being like 1000% honest i felt like she only delivered on the challenges. her runways looked repetitive and her lipsyncs just weren't it for me :(
To be honest we dont know that. Its because the negative critiques were edited out. Trinity revealed that they received negative ones, but it was edited out.
I liked Evie’s cake dress tbh. One of my fave looks of hers. I don’t normally like her style but I can’t believe they booted monets opera dress. She looked insanely beautiful
Like 90% of these are valid boots. Booting Raja’s Louie XIV look and the pleather look were egregious; tbe boot for Yvie’s “presentation” of that one look is also silly. Jinkx’s purple look was a soft toot. And Monet’s yarn look was cute and a toot. But most of these are at best soft toots or boots.
My issue personally is that they have VERY SPECIFIC style they like, and if it’s not that style of fashion - it is a boot. Cause so many of these outfits are so so cool and out of the box sometimes…
