I wouldn't believe people who would tell me that Messi can take 4 Golden Balls and 3 Champions Leagues by the age of 25. And not only that, he managed to make another great period in his own prime to take the Copa America and the World Cup and a great treble in the national team at a relatively older age of 34-35. And I'm sure he'll add another Copa America to it next year, including 3 Golden Balls. After seeing all this I now believe that Messi can succeed in any era of football no matter against who and no matter where. Can't wait for the season to start we have the last 3 years to enjoy the undisputed goat of football🐐

Ronaldo only tied in ballon d’or but never surpassed Messi. Very difficult to win a balon d’or playing outside top 5 leagues in the world, I can only see him having a balon d’or if he wins the World Cup in 2026. Then after that they’ll award him with a super balon d’or for being the best of his generation which will be 10 in total.
The most underrated Messi season is 2019. He was doing the same numbers as his prime but he was pretty much alone in that Barca team, he carried them playing in the midfield and still managed to do tons of plays and goals that are also beautiful to watch. The game where he presented the ballon d'or to Camp Nou was the sumary of his season (Barcelona - Mallorca (5-2)). Just go see what he did. Scary. Van Dijk had a really good season but Messi deserved that ballon d'or. I think he also deserved the 2021 ballon d'or (Lewandoski deserved it in 2020, not 2021 where it was really close between the two). The only ballon d'ors that I wouldn't have given to Messi are 2010 and 2023.
