It was awesome that you also made the second apron. Showing people how to basically make their own patterns from existing clothing. My mom would buy a pair of popular pants for me. Then take them apart and make me 2 or 3 more pairs. She was awesome
I love the two aprons! I thought about putting the opposite colors for the pockets on each side of the apron. I think that it would bring it all together even better!
I've watched a lot of your tutorials. Learned a lot. Love the fabrics you choose. I will make this apron for sure, but I think I'll measure and draw the curved lines on one side then fold fabric in half and cut both sides at once. Saving some time and both sides will be exactly the same.
I was starting to wonder as well!! But then I realize Donna makes these projects all within one week, and her son edits the videos for our viewing so image how quickly they get it all done!! It's so crazy that they produce this good of content within such a short amount of time.
My vote is the one you made from your own yardage. I love your tutorials! You always make me feel as if I can do anything, and that makes me not afraid to try something new. I hate watched many people make videos but you are by far, my absolute favorite! I wish you had taught me many years ago because if you had, I'd be sewing up a storm!!! Keep up the great work!
Hi Donna. I like the yardage apron best. I want to make this for my 13 yr old granddaughter who is not as big as you or I. So how much yardage is needed for a smaller version?
What a fantastic and easy way to add a lining!! I never thought about cutting the lining AFTER sewing it to the outside bodice. Genius! Just found your channel. Just subscribed. Thank you!
Donna, I love the black daisy floral print the best! Your quarter circle tip to soften the corners is brilliant. I’m so glad I am subscribed to your channel. Your videos and tutorials are awe inspiring! Thank you!
Really Cute! I remember my grandmothers fusing around their kitchens and they always had on aprons of all different colors and patterns. I think I'll continue the tradition and make matching aprons for me and my granddaughter.
Oh my goodness🙀! For a person such as myself, just starting to sew, this superbly demonstrated video is phenomenal! I can do this! Thank you sooo much for sharing!
I know I'm late to the party (as usual) but these apron instructions are so easy to follow and understand. Thank you for showing us that we don't always need a pattern to make something nice. They both look great, but I'm a sucker for purple, so yeah, that's my favorite one!
This brought back memories of making an apron when I was in middle school and made one that looks just like these in home ec. My favorite is the black with flowers. I'm so making this with my daughter. Thank you for all your great work Donna. I'm new to quilting so your work has inspired me to do more and how to line up my seam when I need them to.
I loved them both, with the black and white one I would of liked the same pattern, but in the red. After watching this I will start making aprons, as I don’t believe they ever really go out of fashion. What a nice gift they’d make, thank you, you did a beautiful job.
You are such a GOOD TEACHER!!! I love them both. But I prefer the one with the yardage. Smart Lady!! I have shared your tutorial with my friends overseas. Although they do not speak english..... Your tutorials are so details... Language is secondary... thank you for teaching us all.
I am a newbie & just subscribed to your channel. (Not sure if the quilt is still in a giveaway but I can dream...) I decided yesterday to take a break from making masks: I only made 3 of them. I was lucky enough to get the last sewing machine in the store. Brought it home & the stores closed. After 2 weeks the store's Joanns reopened for curbside. By then, I had Covid-19. I also 2 weeks before wasn't hired back because of the Pandemic. So now my area about 2 hours away has the worst death toll & just past NYC. So, I just need to keep my mind on something I can control. I'm still in quarantine, although symptom free 1 weeks now. Your video inspired me: I love the daisy's one, I'm only green girl in my family, I'm sure that its opposite of color wheel. I love the plain , yet sweet side. I'm going to do this apron. (after watching another 10 times or so.) This is simple for me to follow. I love your craft room. I have to start some where! I'm not too sure about what print goes with what??? I would have put the red daisy print on the flip side & flipped the pockets black & red and red & black. I fuss over details & I just gotta get going??? I thank you!
I love how you pinned the apron to the lining and then sewed. I have always cut them both out first, but I'm going to try this way next time! Love the Riley Blake apron panel.
Thank you so much for sharing! Very good presentation. I will try to sew. Haven't sewn in eons! I like both and really like that they are reversible 🌞.
Hi Donna! I love love love the Riley Blake apron panel!! I am so addicted to Jordan Fabrics tutorials. I’m a big fan of the panel design apron but I must admit the “using your own fabric” make would be just as easy. I love your energetic personality and your clear and precise instructions. Keep the tutorials coming!
Enrolling in the giveaway seems to not work so well. I want to enroll for the quilt but instead I got the Christmas giveaways. What am I doing wrong?? Loved your fast apron tutorial.
Where have you been?!! So glad you are back! Love your tutorials, great as always....I always look forward to watching you! You really are brilliant figuring out all of these measurements for us!! Thank-you again!
When I click on the giveaway link, I fill out my details but when I click to submit it, it comes up with ‘you’re already subscribed to giveaway’ which of course I haven’t! Been doing this for months. Anyone else having the same problem? Love the apron, have saved it to definitely come back to, to make 1 or more 👌🏻
Donna, I have missed your smile, as well as your simple and direct tutorials. Please have your son put up a text with something like "snowed under in Grants Pass, but back next week with a fabulous new tutorial" next time. Some of us follow faithfully and were concerned. You are really a treasure. I love the apron from measurements-- I can add longer ties because I am an ample woman. 💕
I loved this video. I liked both aprons. I loved the way you lined them and did not have to have bias tape! Grandma Sue in Central Indiana and Izzi Too
This tutorial came at the he perfect time I wanted to make a apron for my daughter for Christmas. Love the one from yardage, this is gonna looked sooo cute in back and white polka dot material!
The fabric apron was my favorite; I want to make the Japanese style apron but not sure where to get a pattern. It would be so pretty in one of your grunge fabrics.
This tutorial also came at the perfect time for me as I have some Thanksgiving fabric I have been wanting to make into an apron but haven't found a pattern yet. This is perfect. Thank you. 😊
I had the same question. I thought about how much fabric was going to going to in her scrap/waste pile after she cut the back away. I hate wasting fabric.
@Catherine charlwood....Oh, that is an excellent idea! I am new to sewing and still don’t have the confidence to grade a pattern. My grandchildren would appreciate their own customized apron when they bake with me☺️
Catherine, For the 2 and 4 yr olds why not get a couple of seasonal cotton dish towels and curve the top and bottom corners. For the neck and waist ties use coordinating ribbon. For the 8 yr old start by using Donna's measurements then reduce the by 1/3 or 1/2 depending on the height of the child. Hope this is useful.
Thanks a million for making the two aprons giving us the possibility of learning how to use a panel and the measurements for making one from our stash. This is awesome! 🌺🌸
Hello Donna, so good to see you back. I’m loving the yardage one the best, but I’d wear either one. Lol I love your videos, you are one talented lady and so is your Husband. Love you both 😘
This is a great tutorial. I love the one from yardage. I still have my grandma Stella's aprons. She passed in 1959 so they are too treasured to use. I will make this one. Maybe my granddaughter will treasure it. :)
Thank you for this video, Donna. I always wanted to know how to make an apron. I’d like to make one with your instructions! Both aprons are pretty - my favorite is the one that you made from your fabric! 🧡
❤ Thanks for a handy pattern! I'd cut out the lining before adding the straps. I'd also add pockets to the reversible lining and add phone sized bib pockets, too. I just love pockets! 😊
I made this apron out of my own fabric, it was so easy, your instructions were so easy. Thank you Donna I had never owned an apron until now and I am 70. I have done many of your patterns in my Cancer quilts but what I love the most about you and Matt is you are so generous to give your quilts away. I give all mine away and I was delighted to see you do the same..
Love this quick and easy pattern. Just in time for my Christmas Apron project! Just a note for anyone. I don't have pockets on my purchased aprons, so I stitched a hand towel onto one side to wipe my hands during baking, cooking etc. I stitched on a coordinating cotton accent onto the hand towel, then stitched it onto the apron!! You could put a pocket on the other side, or onto the bib of your apron. Happy sewing!
Thanks for the tutorial - l liked the yardage best - I will definitely try these for presents - I'm trying my hand at lap quilts (for the first time) for some very dear friends - made a few "happy accidents" to coin a phrase - but persevered and have just finished my 4th one - thank goodness I found your tutorials cause they have been so helpful - only 4 more to go.
Thank you so much for making this video! I have been wanting to learn to sew and could not afford the classes. I was given a sewing machine by my daughter. :) I was so happy but struggled with reading the patterns. This has given me confidence that I can do it! Thank YOU!!!!!
Why am I watching this, when I already made 2 aprons without any instructions, but instead I copied the one I bought from the store? LOL Needless to say the 2nd one looks a bit better and is also a patch-work.. whaat? But, I guess i can always learn a bit more, and I do have instructions in a book or 2 ;)
I loved the yardage one the most but thought the other one would be a really cute gift for a “new sewer” to try. Who wouldn’t love to end up with such a nice apron as well as accomplishing something new.💕 Thanks for all you do. I tell all my sewing and quilting friends to check out your channel. You have helped my skills grow so much.
I love them both but I am more partial to the floral one, I really like the contrast of the ties on the red side, that being said......the panel apron is very pretty 😁 Thanks for another great tutorial !!!
Completely brilliant! Thank you so much for the perfect instructions. They're both super cute but I think I like the black one better. Thanks again, Donna!
So lovely going to make some for my daughters and sister I love the purple one I also want to send you a pick of the elf’s there so cute can I still buy another panel of them please let me know all the best Donna from canada
I LOVED this! Made me so happy to watch someone, who is comfortable with cloth, demo how to rudimentarily cut and then fine tune that cut. My mother was a seamstress....NYC trained! 😊
They're both great! Thank you for showing us how to make an apron from yardage, for those of us who might not have Riley Blake panels available. Love your channel!! You explain everything so clearly!!
I like how simple to make but professional this apron looks. I wear the over the shoulder-cross at the back apron. I don’t like the neck tie because of my neck. Do you have a simple over the shoulder-cross over the back straps pattern? I always enjoy your tutorials.
