These are very similar to Jenny Doan's tea towel aprons. I've probably made a dozen. But I'm re-inspired by how much shorter yours are (I'm 5'0 tall), AND the adorable fussy cut pockets!❤

How wide is the fabric that you are using. Cause using 44 inch wide fabric u can't cut to 25 inches unless you open up the fabric or am I missing something. Please.

Yes you open up the yard of fabric and cut a piece out measuring 36" X 25" do it for the front and the lining. the leftover fabric is for making the ties. Hope this helps

I keep missing the measurements .... was it 36 x 25 inches .. What if you are a larger size ( some of the ladies in my group are 3X ) How much more width would be needed???

I have the same question because I made 2 and the tops came out different widths because of folding the corners in to center points at different location in centers(?) I don’t know if it matters, I don’t have a child to check the fit.

Hey!! I was shocked when I looked up how to make an apron and the first one I came to was this one! I’m shocked due to the fact that I was raised in Ephrata! What a wonderful surprise! When you say prewash does that mean wash & machine dry? If machine drying, what setting would you use for cotton & cotton canvas and do you deal with run away strings afterward?

Just warm water is ok. Medium dryer. Just to make sure there are no surprises when it is constantly laundered. Like with an apron or pajamas.

I got confused when you ended up with those three pieces for the apron ties. So is the entire yard not used as the apron or did you purchase more fabric. I didn’t see what happened there. Thanks

Hmmm. That was so long ago, but yes there’s enough for the ties. It is just a WOF strip. I do 1 1/2” with interfacing and a double fold. But…. Just as often I might look for a contrast or use twill tape. I always use twill tape with the towel aprons because there is no fabric leftover to use.

Love this technique so quick and easy. Just wondering why you didn’t cut off the triangular piece on the inside after sewing the channel for the ties xx
