This just gave me a thought for FM boards to have some sort of a remote tilt. Add friction to the tire. I have been doing this on my fender-less board by dragging my shoe on the tire to remove goat heads. I noticed the nose rising but didn't think much of it until now. Maybe something could be mounted up and foot activated, or maybe I just smoked too much.... Either way thanks for the solid info my dude!
It's been done on VESC boards, using an e-skate hand controller. Instead of using the thumb lever or wheel for acceleration/braking, it tells the board to put the nose up or down real-time. Supposedly once you get used to using it it's fairly easy/intuitive to do.
@glyphnosis I understand remote tilt perfectly well. Got any way to make it work on a FM controller? My idea to add drag(like the side of your shoe, or some contraption mounted next to the tire) so you can have a pseudo remote tilt without vesc.
Awesome, an explenation like this followed by a 'how to config' vid will be soooo usefull to me and many new vesc users. Because of the Floatwheel and being able to choose from different tunes while riding a lot of the newbies like me were never forced into screwing around with settings. The downside of that is that learning about it goes slow. Most of the info buttons in Vesctool are still very hard to understand for me to be honest. Explanation videos like this followed by a config explanation will be amaaaazing!! Thanks!
I like to keep my atr right at the point where I can’t tell if it’s doing anything or not, but it’s giving me just enough help up hills. I don’t use atr down.
I feel like atr had potential but it's not there yet. With the new float package there is a lot more to tune but with no manual it's kinda hard. Hope you do that video soon. 😊
thank you for everything! but what about the bonks, or drops? Bonking is fine i guess cause it's so fast, but the landing... so if i understaand it correctly the free spin should give me a nose down landing. (that is why i don't use it, cranked it up in the skatepark but that's it) i wonder if it's possible to "turn if off" for every free spin. i mean that should be a really peak data to follow up or it doesn't do anything in the air but as soon as land it will act like i am on a hill and gonna drag the tail as in the FM? maybe that's the proof that we have ATR in FM boards? or that just comes from the speed.... maybe both, that's why it's so aggressive? i don't know i am lost :D
Form pump track using the remote is best, remote is a good to override atr when you know it’s messing up because of nutty terrain. I do wish there is a button base tilt when hitting a preprogrammed button will tilt a preset board angle, that would make landing easier!
@@surfdadoit’s all in pursuit of faster times my friend. The fact that fm riders don’t have access to remote tilt isn’t my problem. I’m done pandering to fm and there regulations, were just trying to maximize what’s possible with these damn boards.
@@chasekasperowski8253understood but the remote is just such a huge advantage that it's like cheating and to me it just ruins the hands free feel of a Onewheel. Remote should be its own class for sure.
@@surfdado I can see that. Side note, I also haven’t been able to tune a board that can float/coast up steep hills quite like fm boards, so remote makes up for that.
@@chasekasperowski8253 I have the strong feeling your Float Config is pretty messed up that's why the standard tuning methods don't work as expected for you - but yes, a remote lets you compensate for a poor tune
@@chasekasperowski8253billet/CNC is the same right? The AV Box guys chose the wrong Aluminum. 7075 is stiffer/harder and more expensive but its thermal coefficient is the same as the cheap 5051 aluminum. The pubbox and the fungineers CNC box both use 6061 aluminum, which is the best you can easily get for an application like that.
I use torque tilt more for how it affects the ride. It’s honestly great for giving a little extra stiffness to the nose. .05-.1a of torque tilt gives you a nice bit of kick. Torque tilt also works a little better at slower speeds imo
