Do you know Emily, I have this memory of you at the old house in NY, & you were so sad about Griffin & his diagnosis, how you feared he’d never be able to express himself, talk or walk. I just sat here really misty eyed, watching a 5 year old beautiful boy talk to you & Will through an AAC device, I’ve watched him almost run with excitement in his walker, & wheel himself in his wheelchair, & im not sure my own heart could be any fuller if I was related. I watched you throughout your pregnancy, birth those beautiful boys into the world, go through so much with each of them, & to see how far both of them have come in such a short space of time since you’ve moved just makes me so happy. He’ll master that device before you know it Emily! What an amazing bit of kit 🥰 Blessings to all of you xxx
So Interesting and Informative! I LOVE watching your kids beat the odds! So uplifting and Griffin always makes me smile 😃 😊 I did not realize that he can understand everything that you say, he just doesn't have the vocal language to answer you! Is that right? I love that you share and teach us all of this and without you and your channel we never probably would! I will always be here to support and uplift your hardest days and celebrate every small or large accomplishment he achieves. Who couldn't love that handsome face! Love and Hugs? Prayers and Blessings 🙌 🙏
Emily you are doing such a great job with Griffin. Both you & WIll are doing an awesome job with so many small kids & kids with disabilities, they are blessed to have you two for parents. I enjoy the updates.
Oh this is so exciting!!! Finding his voice is a game changer!!!! He’ll get it so fast because he’s a very smart kid. I’m so glad things worked out and you got a great device for him. I can’t believe they’re 5 already.
How wonderful!!! He's doing well and so are you guys teaching and modelling for him.Wow it's going to help him "talk" and tell you what he wants and needs.Technology is fantastic and so are you guys.So happy for you♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Love that he is just thriving from how worried you were with him his first couple years of life. He looks so happy and content and is learning. Soon enough he will be stringing along buttons to make sentences and you will be hearing that device a lot more often I would guess. Just amazing what he’s overcome from what it looked like 3years ago or so. I’m so proud of him. Good job y’all.
you're doing such a beautiful job with him! you should be proud of yourself and of him. i do want to say that the current research shows that redirecting the hand to point to something different is unhelpful for functional communication. for example, you having him say yes instead of whatever he was pointing to. you and your therapists know you and your kiddo best though!! but therapists may not be up to date on the current literature. i hope this doesn't come across as telling someone what to do with their own child, i just wanted to share. continue doing what you're doing if you wish, clearly it's working for you!
His therapists must have done a ton of modelling for him already as there is no expectation of communication or using the device when they are first learning.
