Can't really say, "just go with FelPro". I bought a FelPro for my 99 with an 0630 head and FelPro had the gasket for an 0331 head as being the part for a 99. Have to search for a gasket for a 96-98 and the correct gasket will come up. That being said, always verify which head you have. Casting number is on the exposed portion of the head between the valve cover and the intake manifold. I believe between cylinder 3 & 4.
Thank you so much for the information on this video that is very helpful for anyone that watch this video. May I know the part number Fel-pro gasket that you use for this repair?
I do not have the part number. Another person made a comment mentioned that the heads use different gaskets depending on the year it was made (I didn’t know this when making the video) make sure you get the right one for the right year head
That gasket is for the 0331 head with the squashed exhaust ports. The head you have has tall ports of the 0630 or its pedecessor, the 7120 casting used up until the end of the '95 model year. 0331 head showed up in late '99 for '00 models. My daughter's '00 TJ was built in September-99 and has the 0331 crackhead even though the books state March-2000 was when the 4.0L was changed to "50 State Emissions". Casting year on hers is '99 but isn't the TUPY head. Those appeared in late '00 models and continued until the end of 4.0L production.
@@gersonruiz1714 it should. Verify the head casting first. Should be able to see the casting number on the exposed portion of the head between the valve cover and the intake manifold. 0331 was used on TJ from 00-06 and XJ from late 99-01. I believe all WJ 4.0s are 0331 heads.
That gasket is for the 0331 head. Not uncommon for parts sellers to list that as the gasket for a 99. Very few 99s have the 0331 heads, but some do. Most are 0630 heads which is 96-99. When looking for an intake/exhaust manifold gasket, just look for one for a 98 and you'll be fine.
