6:50 This reminds me of when my rear wheels had been taken off temporarily to pump up my tires. WARNING: If you put the rear wheels back onto the wheelchair, please make sure that the axles are pushed in all the way and that they actually lock! Especially when you use something like a handbike, you do not want either of the wheels to come off when riding at full speed!
Oh, and my occupational therapist who set me up with my current wheelchair measured me to need a 48cm wide chair, and then when trying out the chairs, the people at the wheelchair center put me in a 45cm wide chair instead, so I'm really glad that the OT didn't just order one randomly! I'm going to get a new chair soon-ish as I need one with tapered front, and it's likely to be a Quickie Helium chair instead of Panthera, Quickie does their width in even numbers, while Panthera does theirs in mostly uneven. So I'm guessing I may end up with 44cm width in a Quickie as 46 sounds a bit big since my 45cm Panthera isn't really very tight. Oh well, I'll see when I get there lol
I used the Varilite Meridian cushion before, and then had the Jay Xtreeme for a while and now using the StimuLITE Contoured XS which is one of those honeycomb cushions. I absolutely LOVE the StimuLITE :D
Fab idea re the hand sanitizer, just found your channel. I have Primary Progressive M S , main problem is spastic paraparesis. Just waiting now for my wheelchair, so feeling nervous and trying to get good advice and tips, thanks (love your boottees!) X
I realize this video is a year old but in case you're around THANK YOU for the tip to recheck measurements. Any tips on how tight to set the width of the chair? My OT wanted to add 2 inches and I'm thinking of adding 0 or 1... I am very active and not the type to gain weight and really dislike the feel of chairs that are too wide!
