On Torque test channel, they observed with the Bosch freak (GDX 18v 210 c) a much higher torque with a 1/4 hex to 1/2 square adapter than with directly the 1/2 square. This seems to contradicts the claim in this video that recommands to minimize or avoid adapters (which is true in general IMHO). Do you have an explanation ? Does is involve the adapter's length, choc frequency and constructive or destructive waves interferences ? (which is my thought)

There is another video on here showing the GDS-1050 H vs a Scania lug nut. With a 3/4 to 1/2 adapter, it cannot shift the nut, but with a straight 3/4” socket it can loosen them easily. As for why, I am guessing that a 1/2 to 1/4 hex adapter adds relative mass to the system or something like that. On the Scania video, the guy notices that the 3/4 to 1/2 adapter is quite hot, so energy is being lost from the system in the form of heat, rather than being transferred to the lug nut. With sockets/adapters of that scale, you aren’t adding much in the way of mass, at least not enough to make up for the slop in the system.

Wunderbar. Does it work also with screws (I saw pictures of screws in the manual) ? Can we add a mandrel for more many usage scenarios such as piercing, threading, milling ?

Hi Mathieu, the GDS 18V-1000 C & GDS 18V-1050 HC are suited for bigger screws and coach bolts that use socket heads as opposed to screw head screws. We do not recommend the big machines for self-tapping screws into metal or repurposing the machine with the use of a mandrel. Please be aware that utilizing the tool outside of its recommended specifications may disqualify it from the warranty too. Please let us know if you have anymore queries regarding the tools :)

What are the maximum torque values where there is still no hammer impact for 1,2,3,A,B modes ? I could not see that in the documentation.

Hi Mathieu, as a number of factors come into play regarding when the hammer kicks in (speed, acceleration, density of material, size of fixing, etc.) we're unable to provide a maximum torque value within the documentation. Ideally you're looking for a drill driver for fine control of torque values without hammer action. Hope that makes sense.

@@BoschProfessionalUK The drill won't provide medium (say 300-700 Nm) and high (say 700-1700 Nm) torque. I'm not trying to choose a machine, I'm trying to understand the 1000c better.

I got the 1050nm one with 3/4 head but it won't undo wheel nuts I'm using normal batterys and not pro core ones can u advise what I need to do or can it not cope with wheel nuts kind regards John

Hi John, with a standard battery you'll only be getting roughly half the power out of the machine. Ideally a PROCore 5.5, 8 or 12Ah battery should be used. If you haven't already, try it on speed 3 and the machine will have more of a chance.

Will I get the specified torque settings with my PROCore 4.0 Ah batteries?
@BoschProfessionalUK
@BoschProfessionalUK Год назад
Hi, we would recommend our PROCore18V 5.5Ah, 8.0Ah or 12Ah to get the maximum torque values out of the BITURBO Brushless impact drivers. The 4.0Ah is great for power vs. weight but the batteries that include a double stack of cells are the ones that output the current required for the torque output. With that being said, the 4.0Ah will still enable the tool to work to a high value, but it'll be the application that you're using the tool for that will define whether you need the higher output batteries.
