I believe it was called the starship because at the time this vehicle had a lot of new tech that was "futuristic" so it was seen as a spaceship, or starship.
Close, in reality it was called that because the damn thing was farrr too complicated for tank crew members to use and operate effectively, granting it its nickname
Most of the time I use M60A2 as a backup for the A1(AOS) since it has better reload rate and the M728 works extremely well against composite armor. But in one of those long range sniping maps I'll prefer the A2. Because its turret is hard to get hit and the laser rangerfinder works good. Thanks to the curved trajectory ,M60A2 can shoot the long range target when you are behind a cover. And of course you can also kill those who think they are safe behind a cover that's not high enough.
I once was in a situation like the intro in my FV4005. This EBR 1963 had taken out my breech (i was down to 2 red crew members) and he kept driving around me for at least a minute taking shots and failing to kill me. A friendly panther then came and took care of the EBR (british bias confirmed). EDIT: Then later a pansarbil m40 came and finished me off lmao
Had the intro happen to me when I was playing the merkava… took 4 tanks about 20 shots to kill me, 2 of them even had shots on my side. Unsurprisingly 2 of them were premiums.
Ok that IS WEIRD....I've NEVER had this much trouble getting killed in my M60A2! All I know is that the repair costs have gone up for it SUBSTANTIALLY! I LOVE this tank because I grew up during the 70's when it was toted about in various plastic models as the replacement for the A1. I think I'm a sucker for the 'Ugly Ducklings" when it comes to military vehicles. Now, as far as I've seen for it's nickname...I've seen some former US Army tank troopers who crewed it have differing opinions. I've seen one say that they'd NEVER heard it called the Starship and at least one say that they actually called it the "Starship" and called the old M60A1 the "Dinosaur" just us making fun of one-another as we constantly do. The HEAT rounds have been TERRIBLY nerfed...a 152mm HEAT round should CORE OUT anything it hits.
That thing that you showed at start I happened to me few time. Worse is when Gaijin just not only give you no post pen, but also the more you shoot you get more stressful because you know any moments more enemies can show up. So you are missing even more.
Despite the slow reload, this really is one of those tanks that can dig in and somehow keep killing when all your friends are being knocked out. It's trolly with great reaction time on its turret, and ammo that can overpressure.
I told you this thing was good :) I run mostly HE with a few heat shells for Maus. it's my 2nd best tank I'm sitting at 426 deaths to 1232 kills in it, it also has my 2nd most battles at 555.
I struggled with this abomination for a long time ...till I got the lazor range finder and the took great glee in yeeting HE and HEAT across the battlefield much to the surprise of the player on the receiving end lol.
At first it's quite horrible to use, then improvements are very visible and become a great tank to use. Used it with Sheridan, M3 Bradley, T95E1 and M60A1 (AOS) to grind a bunch of vehicles and spading them for further RPs; the time was majestic, sending missiles and HEAT shells at distances that enemies never thought it would be possible to achive (when the laser rangefinder still was not linked with the sight). For a M60 it's quite valueable, i suggest to use it, give a little of fait and the rewards start to coming!
This is the only tank i havnt put on a crew and played with in the american tech tree, but you have just made me. I love your content, keep it up! Video request: M1128 striker. =D
This thing is weirdly survivable, especially the side of the turret, can tell you how many shots the side of my Starships turret has eaten with little to no damage and at the same time I've shot this thing in the side of the turret before only to have the same results.
this turret is so futureristic when it first release, i wanna it, but i am to lazy to grindit, and survivalbility is nuts, and texture problem is the game problem! and i love you
Can't wait to get to 8.0 US. Some of the vehicles look so fun, I'm really excited for the Bradley. Currently at 6.7 but there are so many 6.7 vehicles to research...Then I have to get through the 7.3/7.7 pain
the intro once reminded me the time i played the BMP-2...absort few shells of APFSDS and i somehow still alive...i didnt know what going on either but come on...it not that hard killing a BMP-2
Sadly IRL it was an overengineered POS that broke down constantly, had tons of problems, etc. It had a lot of potential and could've been a revolutionary vehicle, but it's designers were kind of braindead.
Can you do the T54E1? Thanks Also, I think I'm in love with the M60A2 starship, I haven't used it but I love it because I think of it as a combo of an IFV and a MBT
Helloo justin, can you please make a review on the magach 3, it used to be a prem in america which is where i have it, and its moving to israel as a ge prem, its an amazing tank and there arent alot of video's about it
This thing was pretty unreliable irl. It used a lot of new, untested tech, and when something broke you'd have a hard time finding replacement parts just like for the starship
you would have more kills with the he just learn the spots you have to hit, heat and missiles for range edit: I love the tank and the above is how I use it
