He does a really good "working man" impression, considering I think he's been a comedian/entertainer most of his life. (I don't mean to say he doesn't work, he's just not a working class guy who's slaves away in some trade job)
Bill was in some seriously iconic scenes, which I don't think is no accident. What an amazing actor, in addition to his incredible comedy, one of the best stand-ups alive.
I’ve only seen him act in this and the mandalorian and I was super impressed with both. Anything else you recommend (besides that pete davidson movie lol)?
@@distranthegloriouslydeform9259 Agreed. From his work as a stand up, he’s very good at reading and understanding ppl. I think this would make him able to work well with actors and to hone the script so that it is grounded and believable. He is a no BS guy and he could do a good job in working with the screenwriter to clean some things up.
@@rhinocort1184 he’s In A few episodes of new girl and is hilarious. He’s in daddy’s home and the heat. He’s surprisingly good at acting. Hope he does a lot more of it
Yeah I watched the entire series through twice and had no idea it was old billy red nuts. Granted I watched it a while ago and have become a burr fan since, but this is so cool!
"Just for the sake of argument, let's say the kid is not in the mood for a nuanced discussion on the virtues of child poisoning". Man I love that line, classic Saul line and it hits right on the Bulls eye.
Meanwhile, Bill Burr's inner monologue: "Dude, there's *plenty* of reasons to poison a child. I can think of like *seventeen* right off the top of my head. You don't *do* it, but to suggest there's no *reason???* Saying theres no reason kills any sort of examination of how two people ended up at that place. How come you can't ask questions?"
Vince really likes comedians as actors, they are very natural. Bob Odenkirk happened to be one. his flowers are coming now at the end of the season. Well deserved.
Comedy acting is harder than dramatic acting, so its usually easier for comedic actors to make the jump to serious drama than it is for them to go the other way around
During an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, Bill Burr revealed that he would have appeared in Better Call Saul season 5, but that he had to decline because of the health of a loved one: "I was supposed to be on it, and unfortunately I had somebody who was dying, and I knew if I did it, I was going to miss. I had to visit him, I had to say goodbye. It sucked. The whole thing sucked. Because Vince Gilligan is the reason why I have an acting career." His role in "Dedicado a Max" was ultimately rewritten for the character Sobchak, played by Steven Ogg.
@@roddydykes7053 Agreed. While it sucks that Bill couldn't play the part, Steven Ogg filled it perfectly, and IMO he fit the story better. Not every character needs to be someone we already know.
It really bites for Bill because of his family's loss, but A) Any time we get to see Steven Ogg is always a good thing, and B) Steven Ogg's bit role fueled a really fun (if ridiculous) fan theory.
Bill Burr was only on Breaking Bad for a total of 16 minutes?!? I remember watching the first time through it felt like a few hours. That's crazy. He made that big of an impact also in his career in only 16 minutes?!? Wow.
You know what's weird, Kudy was one of my favourite side characters and I've only just now realised that it was Bill Burr playing him. I think that's a low-key sign of a great actor.
@@mappingshaman5280 todd elevated the empire , it’s just he was unpredictable. Jesse was the loose canon , after the prison hit . He should’ve been buried in Belize
@@welshmentheory621 todd shot the kid. If todd didn't do that, jesse wouldn't have become depressed and he would keep cooking meth with walt and probably wouldn't start tossing his money to homeless people, so APD wouldn't bring him in for interrogation, so saul wouldn't bring him into his office to "disappear" so jesse would have never figured out that huell lifted the ricin, so he never would have went after walt. It all begins and ends with todd.
Bill Burr was supposed to be in a episode of Better Call Saul too but had a family emergency or something. That Mr X guy, aka the guy Mike stole the guns from in an earlier episode, who Jimmy and Kim hire as a private detective to investigate Kevin Wachtell, that was supposed to be Bill Burr. Which is why he has a line that's a reference to breaking bad, when he says "you want specifics?", which is the exact same line he says in breaking bad to Mr Eyebrows. It's a shame he couldn't make it, it would have been cool to see.
It makes me want to watch a show about Huell and Kuby just doing some random work for Saul But I also want show about Badger and Skinny trash talk about anything
There are Cumia fans that shame Bill Burr for being neutered by Nia, and calling him a sell out, which just makes me think, is there no degree of stupidity that O&A fans will not stoop to? On a different note, I think Huell should have been played by Patrice.
Wasn't he considered because a few of the writers were familiar with his stand up comedy and thought he would be perfect for the role? I thought I remember hearing that while listening to the commentary on the DVd set.
I hate using fancy words but the best way to describe his acting is that it's very grounded in reality. He doesn't have a wide range but hits the nail on the head with what he does have to work with. Best example is 3:33. He doesn't snarl, doesn't growl the words. It's just a sudden change in tone that would make anyone uncomfortable
@@EntirelyPointlessContent more like fancy phrases. “Grounded in reality” is something a sophomore film student would say. Nothing against anyone who does, but I personally don’t like taking like that
"satisfied? was that...specific enough for you?" i got chills at how super slick that whole scene played out to be, love the cinematography of the jump cuts back and forth between him and Skyler reciting the same exact words and sentences verbatim, it's so powerful and gives the scene so much weight. when i heard the above quote first time watching this episode of BB, i was just like "YOOOO holy shit that was badass" hahaha
Although his absence was due to scheduling conflicts, i think the reason Kuby doesn't appear in Better Call Saul is because he's one of several contacts in the vet's book. And Jimmy begins to require his services after acquiring the notebook (after 2004) and learning about him.
Kuby was one of my favorite side characters of the show. He kinda showed up outta nowhere and vanished the same manner. We don't really know anything about his character, other than his name and he works for Saul. Makes him mysterious. I wish we saw what happened to him after BB.
When someone from one area of entertainment tries to move to another (think sports stars trying to act, musicians trying to be comedians etc) it usually fails so hard but Bill Burr is legitimately a good actor. Not just in this show either, he had a very powerful storyline in The Mandalorian too which he delivered great. I wish he had more opportunities to appear in stuff.
I think it was on a podcast where Bill said he was a big fan of the show’s early seasons, and he told his agent to do anything he could to get him on the show as an extra or a minor part. He didn’t care what he was doing, he just wanted to be a part of it. And ol Billy fuckin delivered on his character.
Bill during the train scene is actually high up there for great performance moments in this show filled with so much little jokes and ques and he nails them
Kuby flying under the radar let him be the guy who got away cleanest according to Vince No manhunt, no imprisonment, hell he didn't even get stuck in a safehouse like huell Probably skipped town
Are we going to ignore the fact that three men were attempting to push a fully loaded dump truck off the railroad tracks? That equates to at least 14 tons.
I only just learned on IMDB that Kuby is Bill Burr . . . thats how good the characters are in that show. . . That and it's the only time I did'nt see him yelling and being angry.
