One thing since you mentioned that other teams do this. In the Moana Pacifica (Pacific Ocean), most island cultures have their own type of dances spoken in their native language. New Zealand All Blacks and the Maori All Blacks have the Haka. Fiji has the Cibi (pronounced Thibi). Samoa has the Siva Tau. Tonga has the Sipi Tau. The cool thing about this is that not only do they have these dances for sporting competition and competition in general (see the Kapa Haka), but they have them for different ceremonies altogether. Hakas have been performed for weddings and funerals. But also (and most importantly), it is taught in their native language and taught at an early age. Consider this: Each school may have their own Haka, and use it like the equivalent of a school's fight song in the US (think Notre Dame, Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma Sooners, etc.) Even the settlers of European descent in New Zealand learn this, as they have totally embraced their indigenous culture, which is a lesson we in the US still need to learn. Have a look for the Wedding Haka, or the funeral service for Jonah Lomu, who played for the All Blacks. you'll see how absolutely powerful they are, or even the funeral Haka for Dawson Tamatea, which was performed by the students at the school he worked at. Again, very powerful stuff here.
