the old beep test aye. i remember doing that back at school, getting over 11 was pretty impressive, only the athletic guys could go over 14-15, but 19... jeez
The dreaded beep test - it destroys you and in my playing days and I used to hate it during training sessions. However come a fast and physical match you felt grateful for it. As I've grown (a lot) older my speed has diminished but for fitness work I can do 230 sets of stairs (A set is once up and down) which is 5.980 steps in just under one hour. My age? 57 and my days of running the 100m in 10.8 are long but I so miss playing rugby.
@mitchwildmut888 no thats the yo yo test ive done it. with the yoyo you run about 20m up and 20m back and then ther is a 5m cone that u walk around for recovery, where you get 5 seconds before the next beep. if you look closely at 2:10 you can see the 5m spaced sets of cones further away, recovery area. The beep test is similar but ther is no 5m cone ur pretty much running continuously when u get to the faster levels, With the yoyo u have to make the line but u always get 5 seconds of recovery.
@mitchwildmut888 i didnt sprint during the yo yo test but i got up to a decently paced run. sprinting would be at the very high levels which even the most elite athletes would struggle with, i doubt it even gets to a flat out sprint stage
19.2 WTF the little cross country runners at my school who used to come top 10 for cross country in my school couldn't get above 15. 13 was my best and i thoughti was pretty fit. crappers! I'd like to see Jo's sprints in 2003-06 compared to now!

@telofajoe mabye im knows for being big as well im 70kg so my mates think i will end up like a jonah lomu as i aint the best at sidestepping but who knows :) good luck with your next competition hope you come 1st :)
