The Bible clearly teaches that only the grace of God can save us from spiritual death. But why did God choose to save some and not others? Isn’t that unfair? In this message, Dr. Sproul looks at some of the misconceptions and caricatures of the doctrine of predestination. He explains why Christians should not only embrace this doctrine but rejoice in it.
This is the 8th in a series of messages by Dr. Sproul. See other videos in the series: • Classic Collection - R...

I was born again on March 1, 2017. During my rebirth, it was shown to me that everything, good or bad, that has ever happened in my life, happened to bring me to the point where I would accept the Lord into my life. It really didn't make total sense to me until I just viewed this sermon, now it makes perfect sense...and I thank the Lord for his saving grace. Why he chose me I don't know...but I will be his servant for all of eternity. Thank you Lord... †

Roman 6:16-17 states. "You are slaves of the one you obey, either of sin, which leads you to death, or of obedience to teaching, which leads you to righteousness." And 1 John 3:8-9 states, "Whoever sins belongs to the Devil. No one, who is begotten by God, commits sin." Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, please examine yourselves sincerely and determine which category you belong to. Many of you believe some verses in the Bible, think they know and follow Christ, and are saved; and find themselves to be in the first one. Why? Because they do not truly know Christ, nor the True Faith, and are separated from the Source of Grace like branches separated from the Vine (John 15:6). St. Paul said in 1 Cor 9:27, "I chastise my body and bring it into subjection, lest perhaps, after I have preached to others, I myself should become a reprobate." St. Paul, an Apostle, was concerned about the possibility of losing his salvation, thus proving that 'Once Saved, Always Saved', 'Faith alone", or 'Predestined" is a complete lie, and that the salvation requires a great efforts on our part to truly live according to Our Lord's Commandments of Love and observing All He commanded as taught by His One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic Church (Matt 28:20), so that we may be transformed into the True Image and Likeness of Christ (Rom 8:29, 2 Cor 3:18); because, we are judged, not by Faith, but according to our deeds and works (Rev 20:13, 22:12. Matt 25:31-46). Our Lord said, "Sins against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven (Matt 12:31-32, Mark 3:29, Luke 12:10)." Do not be shocked, but you all, who follow false teachings of protestant churches, have sins against the Holy Spirit, who always remains with, and guide the Catholic Church (John 14:16-17, 16:13), by rejecting the Catholic Church teachings. Why remain outside the Catholic Church, Our Lord's Only Fold (John 10:16), His Body and Bride whom He saves (Eph 5:23), and risk your eternal salvation? Come to His Sheepfold quickly, like the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32), before it is too late. Amen!

@@reynaldodavid2913Jo After ordering the Apostles to go to all nations and teach them to OBSERVE ALL He commanded (Matt 28:20), Our Lord said, "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned (Mark 16:16)." Which group do you think you belong to? Since protestant churches reject the Catholic Church and Her teachings, all those, who follow them, belong to the 2nd group. Do you know why they have difficulty in understanding the Bible? It's because they do not have the Holy Spirit's guidance, for He withdraws from the souls who follow falsehood and have no True Faith, without which it is impossible to please God (Heb 11:6). Protestant churches did not even exist, until Luther founded his in AD 1524 after rebelling against the Roman Catholic Church, the pillar and foundation of the Truth (1 Tim 3:15) and Our Lord's Body, and, thus, reject Our Lord, Her Head (Eph 5:23, Col 1:18). The protestant schism was against God's Will that all believers of Him be One (John 17:20). To justify their existence, all protestant churches reject, attack, and work against the Catholic Church. Our Lord said, "Amen, Amen, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send, receives Me and whoever receives Me receives the One who sent Me (John 13:20; Matt 10:40)," "Whoever listens to you listens to Me. Whoever rejects you, rejects Me and rejects the One who sent Me (Luke 10:16)," and "Whoever is not with Me is against Me (Matt 12:30). Whoever rejects Me and does not accept My Words has something to judge him; the word that I spoke, it will condemn him on the last day (John 12:48). You do not believe because you are not among My sheep (John 10:26)." Do you think people lived before Luther were deceived by the Catholic Church and lost their salvation? Nonsense! Can God's Only Institution, with which God remains always until the end of the world (Matt 28:20, John 14:16-17), fail? Never as Our Lord said, "the gates of Hell shall not prevail against Her (Matt 16:18)." You are free to believe it or not at your own peril. God leaves everyone to choose Life or Death on their own free will (Sirach 15:17). But why follow wolves in sheep's clothing and risk your eternal salvation? Come quickly to Our Lord's Church, His Only Sheepfold (John 10:16) before it is too late (for the Antichrist's Satanic reign of terror is imminent), so that you may hear His Voice, truly know and follow Him, and be saved by Him (John 10:27-28). Amen!

Christians don't actually believe in Predestination, not the Calvinistic (cultist) definition of it anyway. There is no part of Calvinism that can stand up to Scripture without first taking that Scripture out of context, redefining words and twisting meanings.
@oracleoftroy
@oracleoftroy Год назад
No part? I really dislike these over the top rhetorical statements that seem to be designed to sow discord in the body of Christ rather than edify the body or point out real issues that someone can repent from. Let's look at the Westminster Confession, a "Calvinist" confession that lays out every part of Calvinism in a comprehensive overview. Chapter 2 spells out the doctrine of God. One piece of that is that God exists. Are you willing to stand by your claim that no part of Calvinism stands up to scripture and deny that God exists, or are you willing to concede that Calvinists get at least one part right by affirming the existence of God? Does this exercise help you see why being bit more honest with what you disagree with might be more helpful than a blanket condemnation of every part of Calvinism? This is the problem with over the top rhetoric, by opposing every part of Calvinism, you oppose theism and are left with atheism. Changes are, you issue is more nuanced. Some hate the Reformed idea of the five solas, others hate covenant theology, others hate our affirmation of human free will, and still others hate TULIP (though usually a strawman version of it that is contrary to the Canons of Dort that TULIP is meant to summarize). Where do you stand?
@wilgarris
@wilgarris Год назад
@@oracleoftroy @pipkinrahl7264 I like that mind if I borrow it. Why you should care about Calvinism. It’s doctrines are not Biblical 1)Calvinism = Men are unable to choose God *** Christianity = “Choose you this day whom ye will serve” Joshua 24:15 2) Calvinism = Salvation by lottery *** Christianity = For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:26 3) Calvinism = Christ died for the elect *** Christianity = “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.” John 1:29 4) Calvinism = You are a puppet with no free will *** Christianity = “ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.” Acts 7:51 5) Calvinism = Once Saved, Always Saved *** Christianity = “that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith” 1 Timothy 4:1 Of course, Calvinists have excuses for every one of these points. They will twist Scripture in many ways to justify their unBiblical theology. Calvinism has crept into mainstream Christianity in many ways, most notably in point number 5, taking away any responsibility from the Christian to keep the faith which is the only condition in the promise of Salvation. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 But why should anyone care? “For I am the LORD, I change not;” Malachi 3:6 Changing the nature of God in such a fundamental way means you are no longer worshiping the God of the Bible. This fact has eternal consequences. Do not be deceived by those who post the likes of Pink, Sproul, and others. Study the Bible, Look to Christ, not to Calvin.

Those that don't believe in predestination or in the doctrine of grace simply have not studied enough. I came to believe in predestination and in what the acronym, TULIP, represents after rejecting then alternately doing a deep study then believing. This cycle went on for years before I ultimately understood and believed. I am settled on it. God is sovereign and what he begins he makes sure to see it through to its end. He 'wrote the story' therefore arranged the events and knows the end from the beginning.

Do you not think there are brilliant, Godly people who have studied the bible throughout their lives, and just came to different conclusions about the issue of Calvinism and what predestination and election mean from a biblical perspective? I could say that those who hold the Calvinist view of scripture just haven’t studied enough, but that isn’t an argument for my position, and only creates barriers to discussion. It’s not that non Calvinists don’t believe in predestination and grace, we just have a different understanding of them.

All men are proud-selfwilled examples of Adam, until God in Christ regenerates their minds and hearts, and faith 'in the blood of Christ' is the one gift that makes it evident that God saves them (Ps.149:4, Is.61:1), His own 'meek' saints, called 'sheep' by Christ Himself, our 'meek and lowly in heart' Saviour, and 'Salvation' of God, the 'King of saints'! Praise the LORD that He saves any of us...

Predestination in the bible is always about events that occur at the resurrection. Because you’re in Christ, you’ll be conformed to His image as stated in 1John 3.... 1John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. Rom 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. (Being the firstborn refers to the resurrection) Because we’re in Christ, we are predestined to the adoption.... Rom 8:23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. (Redeemed bodies happens at the resurrection) Eph 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will. Because we’re in Christ, we will receive an inheritance at the resurrection.... 1Pe 1:3 ¶ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Eph 1:11 👉🏻In whom 👈🏻also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: The minute before you believed and were not yet in Christ, you weren’t predestined and had no hope..... Eph 2:11 ¶ Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; 12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: 13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. 14 ¶ For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Predestination is for Christians, NOT to become Christians. God bless.

Athan Predestination in the bible is always referring to future events At the resurrection, Christians receive the adoption, they receive the inheritance and they’re conformed into the image of Christ. This is the destination for Christians BECAUSE they’re in Christ, not for unbelievers so that they will be in Christ. Your destination before you were in Christ was hell. Christ changed your destination so that you will now take part of the resurrection of life. Eph 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, The adoption happens at the resurrection..... Rom 8:23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, 👉🏻waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.👈🏻 Our bodies are redeemed and changed into the image of Christ at the resurrection..... Phi 3:20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: 21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself. Rom 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. At the resurrection we will receive an inheritance..... 1Pe 1:3 ¶ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath 👉🏻begotten us again unto a lively hope 👈🏻by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Eph 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: Those are the only three times predestination is used in the bible. Just to clarify, Jesus changed our destination..... Eph 2:1 ¶ And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. Eph 2:12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: 13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. So your destination went from receiving wrath when you were in the flesh, to receiving the resurrection of life now that you’re in Christ. Let me know if you have any questions. I’ll wait for you to respond before discussing “election”. God bless.

You are wrong. Jesus is God in the flesh. In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God and the word was made flesh. In Genesis God said let (us) make man in (our) image, and the Holy spirit was hovering over the waters. Clearly it shows God was not alone. The Holy spirit is clearly a person, who has feelings and can be grieved.The Holy spirit is know as He, He can bring things into remembrance, He speaks, He comforts, and He is a helper.He also brings judgement like He did with Ananias and Sapphira. He is also God.The God Head is The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. All Three were present at the baptism of Jesus. Thomas said my lord and my God and Jesus did not reject that revelation. The Bible says Jesus is from everlasting He is eternal. The Bible says that God will not share His glory with another But Jesus is returning in the Glory of the father. But The Father says of the son your throne, O God, endures forever. Jesus is the great I Am of the Bible. Begotten means to come forth from. Jesus said Father Glorify me with the glory we once shared before the world began. Jesus said to the Father you have been my God (from my mothers womb)( psalms 22:10) but before that Jesus was with the Father and The Holy spirit existing as The One True God. JESUS SAID HE LAYED HIS LIFE DOWN OF HIS OWN ACCORD. Jesus is The Way The Truth and The Life. The disciples said to him just show us The Father, that is all That we need. Jesus, replied. I have been with you for a long time and you do not know me. Jesus is in The Father and The Father is in Jesus. Jesus asked the most personal Question to His disciples. WHO DO YOU SAY THAT I AM. THAT QUESTION IS VERY PERSONAL FOR YOU TO. YOU CAN BELIEVE YOUR RELIGION OR JESUS. PLUS THE BIBLE SAYS THAT THE LIGHT HAS COME INTO THE WORLD but men loved the darkness Rather than the light,(THIS IS THE JUDGEMENT) THEY HAD A CHOICE. Matthew 23:37 says that Jerusalem had a choice.oh yeah Jesus only died in the flesh. You are right God can't die. God The Father also Says I will be his Father and he (shall)be my Son. JESUS SPOKE IN THE FLESH AS THE SON OF GOD, BUT HE ALSO SPOKE IN AUTHORITY AS GOD HIMSELF. The one true God exists in 3 persons all eternal all equal, and all the one true God not 3 Gods.

Really? You think it fair that God created some people, born as sinners, never gave them an effective call so they even had a chance of repenting, believing and being saved, was actually such a micromanager that they could not even commit one sin without God causally decreeing that they should do it, and then send them to hell for eternity for sins that at worst he made them commit, or at best left them totally unable to avoid committing? No friend! You need to flee this twisting of the gospel. By faith you are saved. Not by regeneration and salvation come to faith which is the order that Calvinism gives. The Bible has a different order of salvation to Calvinism. Repent and believe and you will be saved is the order of the Bible. In the same way the very idea of salvation by faith us distorted by many Calvinists - listen to a Calvinist teach on Romans and hear how they put faith on the same side of the equation as works, when saint Paul put it on the opposite side. You really need to get some truth from Leighton Flowers Provisionist Soteriology 101.

@@UnknownUser-dy6ij Yes, I did in spite of the fact that he could have whittled it down to ten minutes and said the same thing. A man commits murder. His brother is the chief-of-police, and he's never arrested: the evidence is destroyed. He received mercy and grace from his brother, for whatever reasons. Is that an injustice? Of course it is. It's not fair to the victim, his family, or society. The one brother (the murderer) just happened to be "elect" in his brother's eyes. Many other examples could be cited in which violent criminals are shown "grace and mercy" - which is usually an injustice. Perhaps Mr. Sproul simply defines "justice" and "injustice" differently than the dictionary. Also, did you notice how he skimmed right over the "born of water and of Spirit" part? Why? Because the "witnesses" that he was citing (who commented on the passage) saw it as a reference to water baptism, and he preferred not to mention that.

@@angloaust1575 “THE NAME WHICH IS ABOVE EVERY NAME” ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE Question: “What is the name which is above every name?” Answer: Then Moses said to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?” And God said to Moses, “HaYAH Ashar HaYAH [“I AM WHO I AM.”] And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM {YAH} has sent me to you.’” Moreover, God said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations” (Exodus 3:13-15). Halleluyah, Praise YAH! The LORD revealed His essential name “YAH,” and this name appears 48 times in the Bible. Question: “Doesn’t the LORD have many names?” Answer: And God spoke to Moses and said to him: “I the Lord. I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as EL SHADDAI [God Almighty], but by My name Lord {YAH} I was not known to them (Exodus 6:2-3). The LORD only has one essential name YAH, and many descriptive names. Question: What does this mean to me? Answer: The prophet Isaiah makes this very clear: “Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; ‘For Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation’” (Isaiah 12:2 NKJV, as compared to the Hebrew). “YAH” means “I AM” with “Shua” meaning salvation, and thus YAHSHUA is the exclusive name of our salvation. Question: What name did Christ actually receive at His birth? Before we answer, it is important that we know one crucial fact, that the name Jesus has only existed since the 17th century. So the real question is, “What name did the angel reveal to Joseph?” Obviously the name of salvation according to the Prophet is “YAH,” and “shua” means salvation. Answer: In Matthew 1:21, “And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name YAHSHUA, for He will save His people from their sins.” “You shall call” is a command from God through the angel. The name YAHSHUA is revealed and commanded to be given to our Savior. Most do not know of the transformations, or the linguistic evolution, of the only name by which we must be saved: Jesus changed from Iesus due to the late addition of the letter “J” into the English alphabet in the 17th century. Jesus comes from Iesus, and Iesus is found in the 1611 KJV English version of the Bible. Iesus (Latin) comes from the Greek name Iesous, which is a transliteration of the Aramaic name Yeshua, Yeshua was a common name in the 1st century, and most people who lived in the land of Israel would have heard YAHSHUA as Yeshua. Question: Why is this one name YAHSHUA so important to our salvation? The Apostle Peter made this very clear and emphatic: “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). Question: How do we know that YAH was revealed to us? Answer: The Savior Himself told us when He said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM” (John 8:58). “I AM” is YAH, as in Halleluyah, Praise YAH! The Apostle Paul, who was called Saul, on the Road to Damascus heard the name which is above every name, He testified of this to King Agrippa, “While thus occupied, as I journeyed to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests, at midday, O King, along the road I saw a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, shining around me and those who journeyed with me. And when we all had fallen to the ground, I heard a voice speaking to me and saying in the Hebrew language, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’ So I said, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ And He said, ‘I am YAHSHUA, whom you are persecuting’” (Acts 26:12-15). Question: Did the apostle Paul hear the name which is above every name? Answer: The apostle Paul wrote, “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him {YAH} the name which is above every name, that at the name of YAHSHUA every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that YAHSHUA the Christ is LORD, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11). Every language is to know and confess this one name: YAHSHUA. Question: “What does it mean if we reject the one name given under heaven by which we must be saved?” Answer: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:16-18). To reject the Savior’s revealed name is to stand condemned. Halleluyah, Praise YAH, Praise YAHSHUA! And be saved! This יָה is “YAH” {I AM} in Hebrew. “But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord YAHSHUA, giving thanks to God the Father through Him” (Colossians 3:14-17). Shalom in His name, YAHSHUA!

I came across this doctrine when I was newly regenerated and growing in my walk with the Lord. It was timely because the flesh was wrestling hard against my inner new man and I was always mourning over my imperfections. I at times I grew weary of resisting and I thought I'd lose the struggle and end up in hell and my punishment be worse. I read the doctrine and it was too good to be true yet sensible of all. I wept in joy just as I had wept over my sins when I was convicted of my sins. I'm an elect of God by His divine grace. What He saw good in a wretched sinner like me I do not know but what I know is that one day I'll see Him face to face! Thank you Jesus Christ.

I am one that struggles with this too. Some think that those that do not believe in predestination, believe that by choosing to answer God’s call makes us think that we are so special because we made the choice. But I have always felt that if I was one of the predestined, pre chosen, pre elected, that would make me more special than those that are not predestined. Like that alone could make people get prideful. Kind of like being the teachers pet, or something. However, I cannot overlook that all the Bible teachers and preachers that I am learning from, does believe in predestination and grace. So every time I want to get away from that, I look for another Bible teacher or preacher, and I hear it again. So, I am beginning to believe that the Lord keeps bringing me back to this teaching and He is helping me to understand it and accept it.

LindyTN, the predestination was stated in the bible but may I ask you the predestination is for what purpose? Does God predestined some and ignored others for hell? Appreciate your thoughts. Thank you.

@Psalm 22 John 3:16; I believed in God’s Sovereignty and the predestination that is taught in the bible. But some taught God in His Sovereignty chose some to eternal life but the rest of mankind to condemnation which I totally disagreed… quote “there are people that will be saved and others that won’t”. Obviously , Christianity didn’t teach universalism in salvation but we are save by God’s grace through faith in Christ (Eph2:8)…Whether in the old or new testament everyone including Abraham is saved through faith in Rom4:3. However, God in His Sovereign in the OT chose Saul and David for His divine purpose and He didn’t predestine them to eternal life. . Quote “Because of predestination. God will have MErcy to whom he wants to have Mercy. God decides, and to all for His Glory!” I don’t agree to your notion because God’s mercy is extended to all who are willing to repent in faith though He remained Sovereign and this is not about predestination as you claimed. By the way, your thoughts are more inclined to Calvinism that taught God predestine some to be saved and others to damnation. However, that is a false teaching.

Somewhere in Romans it says something about if Christ be in you... and then it says something about the same spirit that raised Christ will raise those with Christ in them. Jesus said, The Father is in me and "I am" in you. God told Moses, Be still and know that "I am" the Lord thy God. Who is the Lord thy God? Jesus said, I am the way, the truth and the life. Rev. 1-5 Jesus Christ is the faithful witness and the first begotten of the dead. Who is the dead? God said, I created all things, I created evil and I created good... Jacob sent his worldly possessions across the river before he wrestled with the angel in the land of Pineal. Jacob saw the face of God and confessed "I am" Jacob. Who is the face of God? Jacob is the face of God. Jacob is the body of which Christ is the faithful witness as the single life which is the life of the body and the light of the world. ~No one ascends to heaven except the one who fell from heaven. In order to enter the Kingdom of Heaven a man must first sacrifice himself. In order to ascend we must first be ascetic and then we will ascertain the truth. It's the idea of ourselves as being a thing of substance rather than an imagination is the idea we must sacrifice. Paul said, We exist in the mind of God where we live and have our being. Christ is our being, the rock of all ages. There is no other single being other than the one single indivisible being appearing as many separate individuals. Who is the one who appears to be you? It's the same as the one who appears to be I. 🙏

@@Romans1.28 “THE NAME WHICH IS ABOVE EVERY NAME” ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE Question: “What is the name which is above every name?” Answer: Then Moses said to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?” And God said to Moses, “HaYAH Ashar HaYAH [“I AM WHO I AM.”] And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM {YAH} has sent me to you.’” Moreover, God said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.

Orthodox Christians believe God has fore knowlege of who will get saved and who won't, He also predestined those who chose to love him and follow his commandment to be saved, but he also gifted us with free will, so in the end it is a voluntary process for us, we have full responsibility over choosing to be righteous and act according to His commandments or go our own way, away from Him and towards spiritual death.

@michaelstanley4698
@michaelstanley4698 11 месяцев назад
Notice that the central verses are not in this video. 'For whom God did foreknow (Rom.8:29, 11:2), he ALSO did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren'. Paul takes up this again in Romans 11:2. And, yes, 'ALSO there is a remnant according to the election of grace': being those that God reserves, by the intercession of his Spirit, which will not 'bow the knee to the image of Baal' (Rom.11:4). Thus, the Spirit now makes 'intercession for the saints ('them that love God') according to the will of God' (Rom.8:27). Now we have Paul's thought that 'Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he ALSO called: and whom he called, them he ALSO justified: and whom he justified, them he ALSO glorified' (Rom.8:30-34). The point is, that, God 'ALSO maketh intercession for us'. Many are grafted in to the true Israel of God (Gal.6:16), and 'the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded' (Rom.11:7). Blinded to what? That Christ Jesus is the Salvation of God (Luke 2:30). Unless some were blinded by unbelief (Rom.11:20, 25) and broken off, how could God reconcile Gentiles , and 'have mercy upon all' the world (Rom.11:32), is the whole point. No one knows 'the mind of the Lord' (Rom.11:34) but the Spirit which 'ALSO helpeth our infirmities' to 'with patience wait for it' (Rom.8:25,26), that is, 'the glorious liberty of the children of God' (Rom.8:21, 9:8)) in Christ Jesus, who 'came' and 'who is over all, God blessed forever! Amen.' (Rom.9:5, 11).

R.C. Sproul: Junk Theology. Useless. Half-baked, half right, so it's not right. Predestination, according to both Calvin and Sproul who spouts him, is clearly with a completely different definition than what's in the Bible. Calvin's definition of what "Predestination" is, is clearly written in his 16th Century work, "The Institutes of the Christian Religion" Book III, Chapter XXI. He defines predestination with this definition, and it comes from his own observation: That, the Word of God is preached unequally; that it does not reach all. That Calvin "observed" that some hearing the gospel, tears well up in their eyes, and they fall on their face, and believe God at his Word, while others: Hear the same message, get really upset or angry and storm out of the room, while others: pay no mind to it, one ear, out the other. That this observation, and again, this is clearly delineated out in the above reference under the Article Title how God Predestinates some to Salvation and others to Damnation and it's all based on this simple observation. Calvin makes his observation into a doctrine vs. what the scripture says is occurring. That God formed people before they were born to reject the Gospel, and others, before they were born to accept it. And all this is based, again, on his observation of people, what they do when they hear the Gospel. The fallacy of R.C. Sproul is so blatant, because the fallacy with Calvin is the same: God is not a two-faced liar. 1 Timothy 2:3-4 says, "For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth." God can't say this, he'd be a two-faced liar with R.C. Sprouls heresy spew which is a spew of Calvin. And, what Calvin was observing is plainly stated in the Word of God: 2 Corinthians 4:2-6 says: "...2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. [[3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.]] 5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. That's what Calvin was observing. That's not Predestination. Calvin simply gives his own observation of what 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 says what is occurring, and takes what the "God of this World" is doing and attributes it to God. Ahhh...that's blasphemy. THrown R.C. Sproul and Calvinism in the trash can where it belongs. This is the sole foundation of Calvinism. All it's built on IS this definition of Predestination and it's blasphemy. A falsehood built on lies.

How is that insulting to God? All people have sinned and are destined for hell but he has selected a remnant to give to Jesus as a gift. Predestination does not exist, save for the uninformed sense the average person has concerning the nature of God. We Humans always make much of how "perfect", "powerful" and "absolute" God is, and then lay some Human limitation on Him as though He is the same as us. God does Not know what is to happen. God IS "Know". No matter what decisions you making using your God-given right of Free Choice, God knows what you will do and all of the permutations for all things relative to your choice. So, choose to go left....choose to go right.....choose to back-up.....God alread knew what you would do and all of the subsequent conditions for all things associated with that choice. And its not just you.....but also for the other 8.5 billion Humans on this planet and all the uncountable living things in our universe. If you want to discuss limitations, you really need to leave God out of the discussion. 😊

It is not God’s desire or wish that people perish, but come to, get to the point of, repentance. See previous verses. It is the reason for his patience. But nowhere does it say all will repent and none would perish. Lastly, use scripture to interpret scripture better than a standalone verse out of context.

Predestination is surely one great lie of the devil...God calls us to reason with Him in truth...carefully understand the scriptures in its entirety. When someone contemplates the institution of animal sacrifice from Adam to the time when God calls Moses to build a sanctuary which is a shadow of the one in heaven, the one on earth being a type, just like the Lamb was a Type of Christ, point forward to the Lamb of God who would do something for man that no one could have ever done. The sacrificial system which reveals in Type the plan of Salvation in word pictures. When a believer back in the Hebrew Scriptures would look by faith to the promises of God through the imagery of the Temple, he would look forward in God's provision that would be establish, God bridging heaven and earth, to give to anyone that so choose to accept the blessing that would protect the sinner from the condemnation of Law and the penalty of eternal death through the sacrifice that would be provided by God Himself. The sanctuary message that the Hebrew were to share with the world (and did not) was to give hope to any sinner, that the God of love made a plan to save any who chose to look by faith... seeing the journey from earth to heaven, from justification to sanctification to glorification... God through various prophets and preachers and teachers like Paul would encourage the believers to hang on to Jesus by faith and go through the trial and tribulations that would come as the enemy of souls would try to discourage through various temptations, to simply look forward and not give up, to strive for the race, run the course to the end and if death comes that it would be for a moment in time and that in a twinkling of a eye at the last trump, at the coming of Jesus the reward of immortality would be given. it's all about individual choices to be lost or to be saved - predestination teachings are not in harmony with God and the plan of salvation and everything that exist in the GREAT CONTROVERSY between good and evil.... That is why also God has a law and sin is the transgression of that Law, and bible says also that all have sinned except Jesus the man...Jesus is the hope, the bridge between heaven and earth....God did not create robots, but moral human beings that chose to sin, but also have the choice to repent and seek God's Spirit to help them walk in the earth of righteousness... God is not a God of confusion, He's a just God and does not delight in the suffering of anyone, He designed that the universe to be perfect and also that man would remain perfect, but at the same time God knew that because His moral human creatures MUST choose in love to obey Him. Forcing to obey is contrary to God's will and character. God has allowed sin to take it's course and will make an end to that course when He will determine when man will have made a final choice and then the judgment will be set....That is why Jesus in John 5 explains that there would be two resurrection of life and of condemnation, Paul continues to speak about this in 1 These 4 giving hope to the believers, and then John in Revelation 20:6 that there is a blessing for those that partake in the first resurrection because they will not taste the second death, BY CHOICE... why because like Paul says in Hebrew 12:1 run the race, don't give up... I would also encourage anyone here to go to the Bible and type the word promises... and study what it is saying....

I like RC. But for some reason, I always put a ton of these videos into "watch later" and then pick and choose just about every other video from that playlist instead. I never "feel like" listening to RC, it seems. But then I end up clicking sometimes because I feel I'm supposed to for some reason, and I haven't once regretted it. I always end up entertained and am left with some important concept to take away from it.

I don't think calvinism is correct, too many scriptures totally condradict it. I find it tends to have Gods love and mercy in a matchbox. So those God didn't choose, He didn't really love😵‍💫 really Wow. This sermon lacks so much pragmatic verse on this topic, that I find that it barely makes any sense and cannot be taken seriously 😐 I suppose in this sense Calvinism is no different from Arminianism, as both typically hold to a exclusive predestination one way or another. After much time study and meditation on this topic I find that the Bible is explicitly clear that predestination is in the end gloriously inclusive. ♥️ Even though I find it impossible to agree with Mr Sprouls exclusive predestination, I must say brother Sproul has a cool hairdo tho 🙂

You are predestined before the foundation of the world only if you are in Christ because it is Christ whom God prepared before the foundation of the world, not you. Without a faith relation with Christ, we are nothing.

It can be effectively argued that if God did not predestinate, then none would be saved, hence the reason for predestination. As God knows everything He therefore has always known the ones who had the wherewithal to obey Him if given the opportunity to do so. Surely these are the ones He is predestinating. But it seems reasonable to assume that God would save all and predestinate all if all had the wherewithal to repent and be obedient to God. But God can only save those who have it within themselves to repent. These are those who are predestined. However we must assume that in order for God to obtain this predestinating right, the sacrifice of the lamb of God was required as a ransom. Or else why did Jesus Christ die on the cross.

Predestination is for Christians, not to become Christians. You were predestined for hell until you believed and were made a partaker of Christ. Now that you’re in Him, you’re predestined to things pertaining to the resurrection. Rom 8:23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, 👉🏻waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.👈🏻 Eph 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, Our body is redeemed at the resurrection.... Phi 3:20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: 21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself. That’s when adoption happens. That’s when we are conformed to the image of Christ which is the same thing as the redemption of our bodies in Rom 8:23.... Rom 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Whom He did foreknow, are those whom God knew in the past. It’s knowing beforehand. Those who loved God whom God knew from beforehand, will also take part of the resurrection so that Jesus will be the firstborn from the dead among many brethren. Firstborn with regards to Jesus Is always about His resurrection. And when do we receive the inheritance?.... 1Pe 1:¶ 3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, At the resurrection. Because you’re in Christ, you’re predestined to receive an inheritance. Eph 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: Before you were in Him, you had no hope. He changed your destination.... Eph 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. Eph 2:12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: 13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. If you were predestined to the resurrection from the foundation of the world then you were never destined to wrath. You’ve always had a destination that was never under wrath. You would have never been a child of wrath. Hope that sheds some light on some of the false premises of Calvinism. It’s an important topic. God bless.

@@evanu6579 what do you truely think is the difference in meaning between "You were predestined for hell before you believed and were made a partaker of Christ" and "You *thought* you were predestined for hell until you believed and were made a partaker of Christ" I ask that because from I can see, that difference seems to be completely unconsidered in your sharing of your views . Its a simple change but a very important one.
@evanu6579

@@seagullcabbage I’m saying that the first one is true biblically which is what I expressed in my response. Eph 2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. Your destination was God’s wrath as you were once a child of wrath. In Christ Jesus you received the atonement so that now you are made a partaker of Jesus and are now destined for the resurrection of life. Do you believe that you were always destined for the resurrection of life? Have you never had God’s wrath abiding on you?

@@evanu6579 I understand that you believe that these verses prove your point, but if i were to summarize all the points you've made that have been backed by bible verses .We wait groaning within ourselves for the redemption of our bodies. (agreed) .God predestined us unto being redeemed and confirmed to the image of Christ at the resurrection (future tense for us and also agreed) .Therefore, if we're in Christ then we're pre-destined to receive an inheritance (also agreed) "If you were predestined to the resurrection from the foundation of the world then you were never destined to wrath. You’ve always had a destination that was never under wrath. *You would have never been a child of wrath*" Why exactly can't you be a child of wrath, who is also pre-destined to be saved, redeemed, and brought into heaven? For example- Eph 1:11 "In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being pre-destinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will" To assume that this verse is saying that us obtaining the inheritance and being predestinated happens at the same time is just that, only an assumption. The verse in itself does not say that, it only appears to say that when you put your own assumptions into it :)

@lary Snw Yes it is, showing a passage from the scriptures that states that we have an influence on what happens to us does not automatically erase the parts of the bible that say that God does predestine us to where we end up. How about instead of only looking at one side and throwing out the other you actually embrace the complexity and the tension of God's full teaching on this subject?

Sproul's Calvinist deterministic understanding of election contradicts the theology of CREATION. God's creation of man, including man's freedom of choice, was pronounced "very good" by God (Gen 1:31). God valued man's decision to obey Him so highly that He gave Adam & Eve a choice despite His knowing that their decision to sin would corrupt man's nature and indeed all of God's creation.. God hasn't changed His attitude. God still highly values man's decision. Therefore, He grants everybody prevenient grace to enable anybody to receive Christ and be saved. The Holy Spirit to "CONVICT THE WORLD OF sin and OF righteousness and of judgment" (John 16:8). Note it says the world, not the elect. . But we must receive the free gift of grace (John 1:12) given to "whosoever in the world believes on Him (John 3:16). Subsequently, throughout Christian life, born-again Christians have the RESPONSIBILITY TO COOPERATE with God's sanctifying grace. We must put off the old man and put on the new man. (Eph 4:22-24). We are commanded. to no longer live like the unsaved (vs. 17). Note the Greek imperative mood in the parallel Col 3:8. We aren't robots. You can't be commanded to do something which is totally done by God. CALVIN WAS WRONG.

Sarah Ward. None of we the people deserves God's grace.! But God who took on human flesh and came into this wicket world just to save man from the curse that Adam put upon the world loved us so much that he suffered a horrible death on a tree which is a curse itself.! Died and rose again the third day overcoming death from the grave. God Almighty is and was proving to the world just how much He loves His creation. His children. Now it is up to the individual to decide weather to choose eternal life with God or Satan.!
