I've been using a Fractal FM3 for recording for ages, sounds great. ... very recently just picked up a Marshall Origin, mic'd up with just an SM57 and the different IMO is immense. .. so digital for ease +demos .. real amp for tone and finals for me .. just the presense and weight of tone with a real amp is hard to replicate (unless super heavy gain of course )

Thanks for your input, exactly the type of comment I was hoping this video would collect :) I know at some point ill have to go down the Kemper/fractal/QC route just so I actually know it. But im assuming its relatively similar to the plugin world

@@Paul-D Yeah , I mean you can get close but there's just this viseral power to a real amp (and more importantly Cab)... Especially on edge of breakup tones ( I think for metal no probs with digital)

Yeh I have same experience that the higher gain you go, the more the digital side seems to work, perhaps even is better.

Great video my friend I’ve gone pedals then everything digital ie.helix ect. Now I’ve gone back to pedals and am glad I did the journey but pedals and amps all day for me …

Cheers mate! Could you forsee going back to anything digital on the current offerings, or mixing pedals with something like a tonex or kemper player etc?

Thanks dude - theres alot of ground left uncovered like mixing hardware and software together…. But ive only just started seeing if that works haha

Great video Pauly. Well put. Everything has its place. I’m analogue through and through and need that particular buzz. I thought all of the sound clips playing through your pedals and amp sounded warmer and fuller. Digital sounded great, just different. Out of interest what riff were you playing around the 08:00 min mark?

I think so too, Currently starting to experiment by adding some analogue gear to digital rigs (see if even a sprinkle of real helps or is worth doing) Ahhhh that is a Riff I heard Tom Bukovac play on his channel a while back and it got into my ear - no idea what it is or if he made it up on the spot lol

Im stretching my memory bit here but I think it was on the episode where he shoots out Nobles pedals at a store. There's also a a jam he did with Joey Landreth that has some killer riffs to steal haha

Appreciate that man! I’m going to have groove on your version but will have a hunt. One of his videos I think called Queens Chair had an awesome jam.

I feel like the sound quality was pretty cut and dry approximately 3 seconds into the first all digital recording. No comparison unfortunately. The Walrus ACS1 on the end of my pedalboard does a pretty good job for silent practice through headphones, but no comparison to plugging the same pedalboard into my fairly budget friendly tube amps (AC15 + DeVille). I have heard some quite nice sounds out of an FM9 but never had the chance to play with one. Did you end up buying the Eastman T64V you were looking at awhile back?

Hi dude. I want to experiment with mixing hardware and software more but will it be a waste of time and money?? And still no T64 yet. Ive fallen short budget wise a couple times. But its my birthday soon and im back on the hunt fingers crossed this time - vid to follow haha

@@Paul-D Some people get great results from using a pedalboard into software to make the final touches. I'm happy with just pedals, and as many of them analogue as possible. Good to hear you are still on the hunt for a T64. I play the T59 and T64 most of the time, but just purchased a Standberg as I was getting a bit of RSI. The Strandberg is a completely difference experience, but also a blast to play. It's also nice to see how your playing has progressed. You learn way quicker than I do! Thanks again for all the content.

Thats kind of you to say - everywhere has been fast running out of the older Varnish eastmans which is what im after really- but may be that i end up with one of the new nonaged ones…. Well see!

@@Paul-D Yes the older varnish T64's were hard to find when I was looking over a year ago. I actually purchased mine from Guitar Village UK and had it sent to Australia. I couldn't find one here. Hopefully one comes up second-hand for you.
