I'm all about sharing the passion for guitars and gear. From reviews and demos to sharing thoughts of the moment and chatting to you lot! This channel is a haven or an excuse for fellow enthusiasts. Whether you've seen it all or just starting your musical journey, I welcome your comments and thoughts always!
I want to emphasize that every opinion shared on this channel is genuinely mine at the time. Your preferences may differ, and that's perfectly okay. I believe our musical journey is personal, and my opinions only matter if you allow them to matter.
There's plenty of things I have planned for this channel If enough people can get involved, Mainly exploring places with significant musical history - then and now style but im not a full time RU-vidr and need your support!
Thanks and ill chat to you in the comments or around stores/shows!
I got my Loop Core Stereo last night and recorded 2 loops. Both loops had guitar and percussion but when downloaded onto PC there are is no percussion in either loop. Anyone know why that may be ?
I know this is quite a silly comment. But I love looking at guitars and playing them. Whenever I go to a shop they literally have 1 or 2 guitars for me as I’m a lefty. I understand they got to stock what they sell like. But it does bug me 😂. Just as I’m writing this you sit down to play and there’s one behind you 😂
Yeh fair point! People like Eric Gales must hate guitar stores haha not only left handed but play with it strung back to front too. Your not trying out much 😅
1st off, you have a very big issue. You are playing out of 2 different guitars. Dispite what you may "feel", this video is already trashed. Same guitar and different settings to adjust to each will give an accurate measure. Not "same for same" knowing they ALL have different variables.
Looks and sounds nice ! For me a strat is a must have guitar even if there are times i play it less and i am more into the humbucker / P 90's sound . As you said yourself that taste for a certain type of sound can change overtime , but like you i am a gallagher / hendrix / gilmour / frusciante fan , so i will alway's want to have a strat in the house .
Great video! Wouldn’t bother changing the scratch plate until you’re more into it tbh. Maybe try playing something different on the strat to what you would usually play on your Eastmans? I love playing Talking Heads tunes on my beloved old Squier strat, 25 years old now and has seen lots of studio and live use. Still stock except for the tuners but both the plastics and finish have aged.
The camera does exaggerate the colour difference tbs but im not that bothered by it for now. I find it easy on the Eastmans to play randomly but on the Strat I just can't get that feeling right now, its always an old chilli peppers song or something lol
Agree on the plate, perhaps a bit too green. Overall though, cool guitar! Was it a pre-finished nitro body? Can I ask where you got it from? I’m debating building one 😁.
yeh ill see how the nitro reacts to the sun for the rest of summer, it might darken off and match it better. But otherwise it needs toning back bit on the plate haha. It was from Axecaster - pre finished nitro light relic
I have the same guitar, and also the same SB59 as you. I love them both, the one area I would give the edge to the SB59 in is on the neck. My 59V is slightly thinner and flatter than the neck on my SB59 (which is perfectly chunky for me). How do the necks on your 2 guitars compare?
So I may be experiencing early Alzheimer's but what was that riff/song you were playing on the Les Paul after you came out of drop D? Happy Birthday and that was a fantastic choice. Enjoy brother!
In my travels I will always make time to stop at guitar stores, pawn shops and the rare real camera shop. I am old, retired and just like to enjoy the trip. Usually stay on State and Federal US highways and avoid the interstates. Best find was a Martin 000M rescued from a sunny shop window at a pawn shop in Branson, MO with loose binding for a great price. Whatever you choose to play, buy for your future. My first guitar was a crappy Framus Texan 12 string. My second one a 1971 Gibson J50 new (a J45 with plain spruce top) which I still play today and will go to a nephew when I go. If you are spending top dollar/pound/yen always think about whether it is worth your money long term. If it is, buy the best you can get and plan to keep it. Gradually you can build a great collection you love to play. One you can pass on to your children with real value both financially and musically. Don't waste your time on crap if you can buy lifetime quality. No matter what smoke and mirrors are displayed by YT guitar company shills, an HB will never be a Gibson. Neither will an Epiphone, no matter how gussied up and 'Signature"d. All those products have a place, but many are beginner level. I have never seen a 'budget' Rolls Royce, have you? I rarely hear people regret buying quality.
Loved the whole video but the star for me was the Tele. James Burton is my hero. I've played one for over 30 years. Last time I was in Guitar Village they had the paisley pink James Burton tele. A thing of beauty.
Love that place! I bought my Glenn Campbell 1976 Signature Ovation there in an MGM sale a few years back (Managers Gone Mad. 😂) Great setting & some fabulous guitars! 👍
Yes that’s what I did! I’d played the Ovation months before but couldn’t afford it. Then my son rang me & had received notification of the sale & the ovation was still there but nearly half price @ £399! So I went up early & was about fifth in the line, but I got it! Great bargain too, love the old thing! 😂👍
Don't do it....don't go in there. Fatal for your credit card or bank balance 😂😂> Bought a numbr of guitars in there, nearly always get a good deal and the guys are great.
Still the closest sets ive found yet. And i did swap them a few times since and its the same minor difference either way. Recently got more curious about the fat 60s though lol
Thanks dude - one was Ohio and one was cortez the killer (both badly done attempts but still haha) And nice place to work - the roads around there drive like butter compared to what im used too 😅
@@Paul-D Ohio! Of course! Thanks mate! Never noticed the butteriness of the roads but now I’m sure I’ll think about it every time I drive haha. Looking forward to hearing more from your T64. Got mine last year but I can’t make it sound like you can! Keep it up
I live just a couple of miles from Guitar Village but being a lefty I rarely visit as it's like visiting a sweet shop when your jaws are wired shut. 😥🤣
@@Paul-D That's odd isn't it. If you gave me a tennis racket or a bat I'd hold it in my right hand - my brother was totally right handed yet he used his knife and fork the 'wrong' way round! 😉
Nothing like an entire row of red 335s hanging together... any guitars of the same colour for that matter, but the 335s are absolutely stunning (especially the Trini), imho. And happy belated birthday. I've spent some with friends and wished I'd spent the day alone afterwards 🎂😅
At least in this video, the Lollars are too harsh and squaky for me. I'll stick with the 8.5-lb 2021 cherry sunburst Gibson Standard 50s I have, which came to me with Seymour Duncan '59 neck and SD Custom Custom bridge - the flame top is gorgeous. I haven't played many Gibsons but the one I got is excellent in terms of quality and workmanship. I've been playing nearly 50 years and have recommended Eastman to others.
I saw somewhere that the neck is finished in poly instead of nitro.. Can that be correct? The neck of the newer Vitera Road Worn series is said to be finished in nitro.. To me the relicking of that neck looks a bit nicer, more subtle, but unfortunately it comes with a Pau Ferro fingerboard..
I Think it was just a worn thin satin finish - The newest Vintera II has finally gone back to rosewood - so thats good. Much more money then these used to be of course, but still.
@@Paul-DI know about the poly undercoat.. I was more referring to the feel I guess.. I would prefer it was thin sanded down nitro.. I have the opportunity to pick up the exact same 2015 Olympic White Road worn strat, for the price of 950 euros. Seriously thinking about it.. What is your take on this? Should I just go for it? Still good value today?
In fairness whenever I see them sell, it's always for around £900 today. - And that has steadily gone up and up over the years since they did them.... So yeh it's totally worth it in my opinion. I still think it's the best Strat Mexico ever did. A new Vintera II which isn't roadworn but is 'nitro' and rosewood (narrow tall frets though) is around £999 RRP. I would take this even at £900 EVERY day of the week and be very pleased about it.
China is waging economic and culture war against us while prepping for invasion and you can't give them your money fast enough. The CCP has secret police stations accross NA in violation of our laws. They don't respect any western laws or rights.
This is a great video! I have the 57/62 and they're good, of course... but I've always found them a little thin. "Mmmh, I would need a little bit of 'quack' more, a little bit of dynamics and overall body". I thought about the Fat '50 and now I have the answer. They have the same sound profile (Alnico V) but they are, uh well, 'fatter'. There is 'more' guitar. More of the same, but... more. I love them.
Mahogany one! sounds better. Gibson has more low end,but the Eastman guitars seem brighter. Thanks for the demo from Australia 🇦🇺.love the yellowledbetter from Pearl Jam.😀👍
It does tend to be a thing across my other Eastmans too - being brighter. But ive also noticed they mellow over time with use more then ive ever noticed before too
I actually just bought just the body, for a good price,in this exact color(which is gorgeous, but looks more teal to me) for a custom platform. I don’t need the Tele sound for what I do right now, but the body is far more comfortable than a Strat. I also play Les Pauls but they tend to be harder to travel with. I plan to set this up with a Gibson Scale Warmoth neck(personal preference on scale), and probably set it up for pickup quick changes somehow, though my initial setup will be a P90 neck and Super Distortion T bridge. I play hard rock and pop punk mostly, so I am leaning more towards a heavier sound. I know some purists might say that’s ruining a Tele, but right tools for a particular job. If I need a traditional Tele sound, I can always swap out pickups.
Wow, that shop looks amazing.. sadly here in Dublin, guitar shops are a dying breed. Man, i could spend hours there. Beautiful selection. Great video 🙏☘️☘️☘️
Sad to see some have closed - managed to get to 3 on a spare day I had in Dublin last week though - played a beautiful ''61 Gretsch in Some Neck - great shop.
Next year checkout richards guirars in stratford upon avon, huge eastman dealer but they also stock Furch who make some incredible sounding guitars for the price.
@Paul-D oh awesome, I'm getting my first proper guitar from them in October, having played a £50 guitar made in the 80s in Korea for the past 20 years it's about time to upgrade. Furch blue or eastman is on the list
I bought a T64/v in gold burst 6 months ago after being disappointed in the Chinese made Epiphone Casino (and the American made one being too expensive). It's my favourite guitar I've ever purchased, and the varnish finish is unique and something else. You won't be disappointed in your purchase. Eastman makes gibson guitars better than gibson
See Phil Mcknights 1st review on easttman sb59tv where he says quality is up with custom shop and collings. If only Eastman did a 60s carve and I would have the best of both worlds.
Great shop. Bought a lovely PRS SE semi hollow from there a while ago. I bought an Eastman T464 (Gibson 339 type) from Peach Guitars also, far cheaper than the Gibson
Parlours are not really for strumming, they’re for picking. You can’t hear separation of notes when strumming chords. You didn’t say why it suits you as an electric player after all 12 frets to the body must feel quite limiting after easily accessing 22 frets on your strat?
@@Paul-D Which song was that?? I am interested since I loved much of the songs played in here, especially the Pearl Jam bit on the tele and also this other riff you played at 13:05 on the Eastman, what song was that too?
