I remember when I got Launch Base Ending as Sonic without getting all emeralds and I was like, "Wait, that's it!?" 🤣

It’s actually pretty cool that while if you only have super sonic, sonic automatically transforms to normal and falls with the emerald and gets saved by tails after securing it, but if you unlocked hyper sonic, sonic secures the emerald and turns back when he decides to, which shows how this form is greater and how he also is more familiar with the emeralds now. Really cool touch for a game made so long ago.

I feel like the super sonic ending was the real cannon ending it showed we brought back the master emrald finally but at the very end it shows that we forgot some of the badniks and so in knuckles story we have to finish what sonic left behind and take down egg robo and the still surviving mecha sonic to get back the master emrald. And at the last moment sonic stops by just one last time to give knuckles a boost. Giving us a close to a wonderful story and giving us some extras like hyper sonic.

My favourite ending is either the one where Amgel Island ascends, it just satisfies me, or the one where Sonic becomes hyper.

You learn something new every day... I had no idea that the complete completion of S&K with Sonic is a teaser for Knuckles' story... and I recently noticed that in completely completing S3&K, the played character is in the middle. To me, that is the holy grail of the Sonic series, upgrading the Chaos Emeralds to Super Emeralds. I believe that Super Tails is only accessible after upgrading all the emeralds because he is not a playable character in S&K? And Knuckles is not a playable character in S3, where he is an adversary in the stand alone game, but he comes round in S&K, he goes different routes, but Super Knuckles is accessible. Activating the super and hyper forms of the characters helps with the later boss fights, though, which gives the perfect ending, with the three characters by the S3&K logo.

That time in games history was another. I hope better times are coming back where games are also a labor of love. Still People back then were fucked with thight schedules... That's something that still happens today... I hope for that also to change

12 year old me wondering how the death egg is still pretty much intact after Crashing into angel island for the secound time in sonic and knuckles

As you may know, in sonic 3&k Knickles appears with yellow socks in cutscenes, that happens because of hardware limitations, to let things easy to understand: if Knuckles uses green socks in cutscenes, the hud would turn green instead of yellow Why i am telling you this? Because as you can see, in minute <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="289">4:49</a>, because there's no hud, he actually uses green socks (don't ask me why he is pink, that isn't related about limitations)

I think it would have made sense to have Sonic 3 (without S&K) say "TO BE CONTINUED" at the end of the credits when you get all of the Chaos Emeralds. (Otherwise it would just say "TRY AGAIN" as usual.) Just displaying the game's title art, along with the characters in triumphant poses, gives the impression that Sonic 3 is over, when it's really only half over.

The credits theme in Sonic 3 is my favorite!

It's quite an aspect that the chaos emeralds and super emeralds determine the ending. For example, if you don't collect any emeralds Sonic and Tails failed to return the Master Emerald to Angel Island. And when you do collect them, you get either the good ending or the best ending. Really like the detail they added, and not that the chaos emeralds are just optional to obtain.

I don't know you guys notice it or not, but when you activate all the Super Emeralds, the Master Emerald going glow because the power of Super Emeralds and the animals will follow Sonic and Tails, same as Knuckles.

I prefer the sonic 3 credits over the and knuckles one. I don't like how the logo is silent and doesn't fall from the top like in sonic 3 alone. Plus that MJ credits theme is amazing.

So... could you say that the ending with Hyper Sonic is not canon? Since Super Sonic is the one where the Knuckles story teaser appears, in Hyper Sonic they only congratulate you on the percentage but the game doesn't care knowing that either way the Master Emerald returns to Angel Island . This could explain why today Hyper Sonic is no longer canon, maybe he never was and was just an extra, or maybe he was but that's not really what happened in the story? It's quite confusing...

What's the differences between Sonic 3, Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic & Knuckles? I though Sonic 3 & Knuckles is the only Sonic 3 game. But well, Sonic 3 final boss is at launch base, the big arms boss, and in Sonic 3 & Knuckles the final boss is Death Egg Robot, but what's in Sonic & Knuckles?
