Not bad at all really. 5-7 on every project? For the negative perception of Cole that I thought he had, that’s pretty solid for a discography he supposedly has dunked on here and there.
I don’t understand all the Cole hate. 2014 FHD was damn near a 10 to me, there are only 1 or 2 songs on it that are misses. And 4YEO is a great concept album, which I think is really cohesive. Just cause he sticks to the basics doesn’t make him a bad artist. I’m not saying he’s on the Kanye and Kendrick level, but y’all better give him his flowers
not only that, but IMHO The Off-Season shat all over Mr Morale. I haven't listened to the latter album in its entirety more than 2-3x, few tracks had ANY replay value. The Off-Season I slept on for a bit after its release, because it doesn't have anything immediately exciting catching the attention, but I now bump it all the time. His vocal performances on that are goated fr
@LT I’ve been doing that for a while. I’ve only been listening to music for a couple years and I’ve only scratched the surface. I’m starting with basics like J Cole, Kendrick, Kanye, DOOM, Pusha T, Denzel Curry, Travis Scott, Frank Ocean, The Weeknd, Tyler the creator, Childish Gambino, ect. Right now J Cole is making me feel something, so as of now I have his projects ranked pretty high.
i never saw anything for me in jcole i got ye i got kenrick i got jayz and so on there was never a moment where i thought yeah thats sth ive missed.. he do got quite a few bangers tho but he wouldnt even be in my top 30 artists
J cole's message is different from Ye & Kendrick. Jay-z raps are pretty bad ngl. Overall J Cole is a great rapper and he's really good at painting pictures and telling stories better than most rappers who just rely on zingers (cough eminem cough). Production holds him back tho if he had producers like Travis got producers then damn he'd easily be above Kendrick imo.
4yeo wipes almost every modern rapper's discography if not for "neighbors" it would be a perfectly consistent album. I have never heard a better experience and every single song will send you to heaven. It also makes me incredibly sad to see him call foldin clothes a weird song. I feel bad for his mother
my opinion on cole albums: The Come Up: 5/10 The Warm Up: 6/10 Friday Night Lights: 8/10 Cole World: The Sideline Story: 6/10 Born Sinner: 8/10 2014 Forest Hills Drive: 8/10 4 Your Eyez Only: 8/10 KOD: 6/10 The Off-Season: 7/10
My List: 2014 Forest Hill Drive: Decent 9 The Born Sinner: Strong 8 4 Your Eyez Only: Strong 9 The Off Season: Strong 8 KOD: Light 7 The Sideline Story: Light 7 The Warm Up: Decent 7 Friday Nigh Lights: Decent 7 D-Day: Decent 7
Fact is Sideline Story 6/10 Born Sinner 9/10 2014 FHD 9,5/10 4 your eyez only 8/10 KOD 6/10 ROTD3 8/10 The Off Season 8/10 D-Day 7/10 Not gonna rank the mixtapes cuz I ain't listened to them in a while
This is why Fantano will never be an actual reviewer in my eyes. He mostly glosses over the topics in each album and songs and doesn't give it time of day cause it's not hard rap 24/7. It's his opinion, but not a proper critical opinion.
Thats a really invalid argument l could argue he did give low score cause cole is a really fuking awful singer and l did have easier time listening his rap he also gave jid a 9 and l can see why cause jid sing really well compare to cole which is torture on some songs
@@wegil6095🤡. Clown take just horrendous terrible awful take. You are the only person on planet earth to have every called J cole a bad singer. Especially when the topic is his studio albums. You are by every objective measurable element wrong in every sense of the word. I would say God bless you but it seems he has punished twice already.
"A weird song about foldin' clothes" Real question, but did they guy just lose all his braincells. 4Yeo is not a hard album to understand. It takes the average person less than 2 listens to understand the point of the guy won't critique neighbors but folding clothes the MOST obvious song on the album is weird. Literally all you need is to have a mother to understand this song. I hope that one day he find hisbrain and properly re-listens to this album.
A few months ago, I absolutely adored J. Cole and thought he was a great artist and rapper, and I thought Anthony underrated him hard. Nowadays, I realize he's just kinda meh to me
@@BarySucks I mean there's all sorts of layers to Hip Hop. Kendrick the best lyricist rn? Probably. I'll take Cole over him as a Vocalist any day of the week tho. Out of the trinity of that generation (Cole '85, Drake '86, Kendrick '87), for me Cole sits right in middle with great vocal performances, playful & catchy flows and melodies while still offering lyrical depth. To each their own tho :)
J. Cole haters(and pretty much any hater) are so corny. I’ve never seen a group get so butthurt about a rapper that they supposedly care so little about. It’s these type of people that make Hip-Hop discussion so tiresome.
How is Anthony getting butthurt by cole, if honestly reviewing and critiquing art nowadays is considered being a “hater” or “butthurt,” then wee pretty much living in a dystopia
@@Prodbyjah464just listen to 4yeo and tell me to my face that foldin clothes is weird. His media literacy is in the depths of hell for that atrocious take.
@@kanyewestandkidcudilover overrated doesn’t mean bad. He’s good I just hate when people compare him to Kendrick. Like fhd 2014, off season, 4 your Eyez are good albums but KOD is so mid
