cracking up at J Cole featuring himself. That's the same thing my high school's aspiring rapper did. He released a track featuring "anonymous" and we were all like "bro that's you" and he fought us on it for years. His verse started "Anonymous on this verse / now just forget about my real name" something something "I don't do it for the fame"
Y’know its weird but I used to do that when I was trying to be that stereotypical 13 year old wannabe rapper. I had so many styles I wanted to do so I made myself the feature and just changed my voice.💀 deleted them bitches cuz god damn they were awful.
I'm surprised no one mentioned half of DJ Khaled's entire catalogue, that man really doesn't know how to put two artists in one track that complement each other and just mashes a bunch of famous singers into one song ...
0:36 - Kodak Black on Drowning 1:03 - Nav on YOSEMITE (original) 2:05 - Kendrick Lamar on Mask Off 3:00 - Anthony Fantano on 21 & Jaded 3:11 - Lil Wayne on Can't Stop Partying 4:03 - Snoop Dogg on East Coast Remix 4:56 - Ludacris on Baby 5:34 - Kill Edward on the KOD album 6:21 - Ab-Soul on Smoke Again 7:09 - A Boogie on Foreigner 8:02 - Future on Holy Terrain 9:26 - Everyone on Lil Dicky's Earth
It's probably cheating, but Pitbull's verse on Timber needs to be named and shamed... The entire thing: The bigger they are, the harder they fall This biggity boy's a diggity dog I have 'em like Miley Cyrus, clothes off Twerking in their bras and thongs (Timber) Face down, booty up (Timber) That's the way we like the what (Timber) I'm slicker than an oil spill She say she won't, but I bet she will (Timber) Those last two lines make me physically ill.
Best rap feature ever - Andre 3000 on Rick Ross "Sixteen" One of the greatest verses of all time and one which Anthony reviewed using just 2 words "Slightly underwhelming"
Ironically, that isn't the weirdest Kendrick feature. That award goes to his feature in Imagine Dragon's Radioactive remix. I'm not joking, look it up.
snoop was not the worst feature on east coast remix. FRENCH MONTANA WAS ON THAT SONG. THE WAY HOW HE PRONOUNCED BONE THUGS N HARMONY IS AN AUTOMATIC PLACEMENT AT THE BOTTOM
How is there no mention of French Montana?!? The man is legendary for being horrible as a feature, especially on group tracks. He is like Snoop where there is no semblance of rhythm but he doesn't have the same swagger that makes it work.
@@BloatwareInc Ive never heard ANYONE else say Atlanta is part of the midwest in my life. Luda n T.I. dissed each other because they both claimed to be "King of The South". 1 of Ludas albums is called "Southern Hospitality". So...How do u explain that?
conan had a good sketch where he was making a song and on the bridge he rapped "this song has a rap feature thats how you know its a real song" or something along those lines anyways explains the baby feature pretty well
I'm surprised no one brought up Drake's verse on "Poetic Justice". Kendrick has these deep, soulful lyrics about finding love and hope in a dark environment, and all of a sudden Drake's like "that BIG ASS in that sundress, OOOOH!"
@@lKyweel Ah yes, what an intellectually rigorous counter-argument. I certainly can't argue against your ironclad, watertight case for Drake's secret genius!
@@SimBol1216 you want a well written essay on why drakes verse was good? You yourself have a dumbass reason as to why you think it’s bad. You used one small part of the verse to summarize his feature. It was good and your music taste is probably ass. Keep listening to lyrical spiritual ass music
I have been reminded of the horrible existence of "Earth" by Ill Dicky, and that one time a couple students used the video as part of a year-long project for my English class.
Can we talk about how features generally distance the listener from the artist? I feel like a third wheel who just got passed off to my friend’s friend who I don’t know. I just want to hear the artist I came to hear.
The worst is when it's shoved into a non-rap and/or non-hip-hop song and the rap lyrics are either divorced from the song's story/point OR it is, buts its incredibly shallow and stupid vs the song (which may not even be THAT deep to begin with).
@@money0925 it’s one of the worst songs ever written (imo the worst), the lyrics are horrible and some of the most insensitive lines I’ve ever. It’s crazy that this was ever approved
Are we not going to mention Snoop Dogg's feature on Corey Feldman's "Go 4 It" because that legit sounds like Snoop Dogg recorded his verse on his phone while driving on the freeway.
I think we need to start talking more about 'Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavored Water' as it's a seminal album in the pantheon of rock history - I remember when it dropped people were literally going nuts, playing it everywhere, I heard it in friend's cars and at parties and even at the Jr. High dances at the local Community Center. It's weird how the record has gotten so buried underneath the things that came after and is essentially never discussed anymore. Don't y'all remember the banger "My Way" ?? Essential tune imo.
2:10 I’m a big Kendrick fan so I’m biased, but I love his verse on Mask Off. The beat is obviously fire, and his lyrical content was really good. And he switched flows like 9 or 10 times. Good shit.
lol why are you acting like nav ruined the song when he was only there for like 10 seconds? the song in general was just kinda average and I’m a huge travis scott fan
That is legitimately one of the worst features of all time. Every bar he said was trash. It wasnt the greatest song ever by itself but holy shit the feature made it unlistenable
@@turk58guy _Exactly_ my thoughts. I was never in love with the song, but Ab-Soul effectively smothered it to death and fucked its corpse with his verse.
it served its purpose got people talking its fucking stupid but i saw it live and it was fucking lit the crowd was chanting la dee da it was amazing hahaha
Bro no - NAV is good. Monotone, sure but he serves his purpose. That album he dropped “Good Intentions” is fire. And So is the “Bad Habits” album. You gotta check it out
My knowledge of rap features isn't that large, so the one that comes to mind for me was Francis and the Lights on The Big Day. That shouting and screaming does mesh well with the softer production.
i'm very surprised no one said any of chance the rapper's unexpected features in the big day (aka the big letdown) like randy newman, swv, death cab for cutie, en vogue or especially cree summer!
