This is gonna sound weird but I love that Vi really gets hit in this show. Most women that fight in media are strong but I wouldn't consider them 'tough' because they always strike first or never get hit and stay pretty the whole time. Vi gets beat to shit in arcane and never stops fighting which is really cool to see and shows you how badass and tough she really is.
Yes. Modern media has issues when it comes to female characters, among other issues. They always make them too perfect. Never lose. Beat up 5 big guys and walk away without a scratch. Never even lose an argument. Always better and smarter than everyone else, especially any man. This leads to weak character. Like Rey. Captain Marvel. And most any other woman with a larger role. It just isn't good for storytelling. And honestly just disrespectful and disconnected. This show did not fall into that. The characters are developed. Struggle. Learn. Fight. Win. Lose. This show was written extremely well. Especially compared to other current media. Well done.
I loved how none of the characters seemed overpowered. Especially with Jinx’s chaotic mind and how we actually see Vi and her opponents actually get tired as the fight goes on. Really well done series was great even though I don’t play League
@@r3yuk682 The story is that long?? They keep adding into it or is the game really hard. Excuse me for asking questions but gosh, it is interesting. Also, it's so cool to hear you enjoyed something so much that you kept it up all these years. Happy for you.
My favorite is the fight with Vi and Jayce, it’s the first time we see the hextech gauntlets and the hammer and we just get to see them kick ass. The music is absolutely top notch and the little wink Vi gives is just great.
The look that Jayce gives the hammer when he blasts the kid is just gutting despite its subtlety and shortness. Everything about that whole fight scene is just *chef's kiss*
@@bruh5601 about one mediocre dude's and top tech. Vi is really good at fighting, with upgrades she can totally improve her strenght. And hemchteck, it's not robots, it's just random dudes, that consistanly inhales shimmer, that giving them power and agility, but not battle iq, it's even lower it, bcs of high dose. Even if they're super strong, they still need to think.
I honestly love how in the Vi vs Sevika round 2, they both play pretty fair. Despite the level of hatred they have for each other, Vi takes a second to drink something and Sev just kinda, waits. Like ofc they wanna kill each other but they gotta do it fairly y'know?
I love that from the moment we see Sevika. We immediately know she’s mean but fair. Regardless of right and wrong. Like she said she did give Vander a chance. She waits in her fight for her opponent to get up if they’re struggling to get to their feet. She made it clear she’s willing to betray Silco too if he starts getting cocky and making mistakes and for someone who’s be worth it to back. She’s cruel, but not needlessly so.
Yeah, I noticed that too and I like how she's like "Here wo again" and just told everybody on that place to get out before they beat each tother. LMFAO
I appreciate how Vi is both emotionally and physically vulnerable. She's emotionally vulnerable whenever she's around Jinx because she's trying to get her baby sister back and is clearly remorseful for her failure and her anger towards her at the lowest point in their lives since their mom and dad died. She's physically vulnerable in plenty of fights, gets tired, gets the piss kicked out of her, and even needs Caitlyn to save her life at one point. But she always picks herself up and keeps going. That's the mark of a realistic strong woman. Nobody's perfect and that's why she's relatable.
All the female characters are absolutely spot on in Arcane. So much media these days makes female characters to be overly feminine just to remind us that they're female characters, or they make the "strong" women be completely unlikable. Arcane though gives them all their own personalities and makes them all believable and never takes the time to be like "hey guys look at all these women we wrote". That goes for the men as well, honestly every single character in Arcane is extremely well written.
@@ninetailedfox579121i so agree. Modern day media has created this idea of a ‘strong female character’ who always turn out to be an un-relatable mary sue, who completely pale in comparison to to the many well written strong male characters. Arcane is one of the few shows where every character, no matter their gender, has depth and complexity and it is so refreshing!!
Ikr, it’s rare to see two women fighting and when they do it’s sexualized in some way. This fight is given the same treatment as two men, it’s brutal, gritty and fucking cool as hell.
I also really love the added story detail that even though they absolutely despise each other, they take mini breaks in the fight and let the other recover. That shows respect. They may wanna beat the shit out of the other but they wanna do it fair and square Which leads to another favorite trope of mine ive been seeing in more action scenes lately - fatigue. I love when characters take hits and they don’t just immediately bounce back from them, their movements slow down or become more raw over time, without ruining the pacing. It’s good visual storytelling and also realistic, which is a hard balance to strike
@@saraautio5693 and also it isn’t woke! It just has everyone doing their thing for the story and not bc of political real world things! And I think a lot of shows can learn from that
@@Joyride37 i think more and more shows are starting to incorperate fatigue into their fight scenes. No one has infinite stamina. Makes fights seem more realist and impactful
When Jayce hit the kid, the cut off of the music and action was superb. It’s such an epic action sequence, the audience and the characters are having fun with it, cool new weapons, it’s epic. Then boom, slapped right back into reality, both the audience and Jayce himself. This show is so perfect!!
9:12 I love this whole sequence. Vi actually fights like a boxer. Combinations to the body and the head. Head movement. Nice extension on the punches. She even uses flick jabs which you rarely ever see in movies or tv shows. Usually you'll see some bullshit marvel type kung fu moves with 500 cuts per second. But Riot nailed it with this one. Also they managed to make male and female characters interesting and cool without making it cringe at all. I like Vi and Jinx in the same way i liked Furiosa in Mad Max. They are just cool characters that i as a man can even identify with. As terribly unbalanced of a game League of Legends is, this show is amazing.
Ya the flick jab was nice I remember replaying the slip uppercut right after so many times when I first saw it. The angle of the animation looked so clean
I also like how the crotch kick was effective, people forget that it really hurts for women too lol, we have a bone that goes across the area and it really hurts when something hits it. Not as much as a man, but still pretty disabling!
Not only is this animation probably the best i've seen for fight scenes (trumping even most anime I've seen) , the technical sound design is so visceral - it makes every impact have so much weight to it. I love this show and I honestly didn't think it'd be up my alley. 10/10.
Vi's punches are so well placed, no wasted effort when she's early in fights and has the energy to devote to accuracy. Her combo on one of the Fireflies during the Jinx/Cait/FF fight was literally perfect: kidneys, sternum, jaw.
I love how between the two Sevika fights, she fixed design flaws on her arm in addition to having it upgraded. Now that's how a real fighter takes care of her weapons!
@@BenHopkins1000 sometimes I think y'all genuinely forget they live in what is basically the hood. Either that or y'all have never been to the hood so you don't recognize how shit works there. You really talking about a baby sitter as if she could ever trust anyone around powder that wasn't ekko, her brothers, or Vander. That's how kids get abused by "family friends"
@XS-NRG One of them still could have stayed behind, maybe even helped her refine her combat techniques. Powder is the only one who can't fight, but Jinx came close to beating Vi's old score on the punching machine, so she probably could have learned, and leaving a curious child to experiment with weapons of mass without someone to keep an eye on her is inviting trouble.
Vanders last stand is missing. Thats one of the most epic moments of the show. The first part of jinx vs firelights fight is missing aswell. I appreciate how you included the buildup leading into most of the fight scenes though maybe you could update it for a longer video though.
The best fight was definitely Ekko and Jinks. Fast, Raw, Brutal. But Personal. Plus they both know the other has to do what they need to, as well. But they're both gonna do it their way. Plus it encapsulates the themes of the show. By showing what could have been, by showing what was. Seeing a different future, by looking at the past.
Ekko’s whole theme IS time so that just adds another layer to all of it….also I am Jekko ship trash and one of my HCs is that they had mutual childhood crushes on each other. 😂
I love the feel of each fight. Every weapon seems to have its own weight and the camerawork and the visual effects when hextech does something like making a shield showing runes as it does it. It's so beautifully well done. 11/5 for each one.
sevika and vi's fight are so freaking GOOD, the pauses, the tiredness, the groans, both of them adapting like when sevika upgrades her hand and Vi removing the gauntlet... just SOOO REAL and RAW... A fight never seen before and I think it was beautifully nailed.
If someone told me there were only eight fight-scenes in Arcane season 1, I would had said they were lying. They are so greatly woven into the story, that it seems like there are many more.
The fact they showed the ugliness of the fight such as the flying spit, the swelling bruises, the blood, and that they also stop moving for a bit cause they're tired makes these fight scenes even better.
i think it helps the pacing of the show that there's only one fight per episode. then you don't get to bogged down and it shows confidence in the viewer's ability to enjoy the story without some flashy action scene to distract them
i can talk all day about the amazing animation, and dynamic yet realistic choreographies, I'm a huge simp for good animation, and this show ABSOLUTELY nailed it. but I want to mention something a lot of people touched on, and it's the fact the show absolutely doesn't shy from violence because FEMALES every Vi vs Sevika fight is absolutely phenomenal and brutally realistic Ekko beat Jinx almost to a bloody pulp I just admire the fact they committed to realistic fights to the death despite how much popular media HATES it how empowering it feels to see men and women fighting on equal footing, and non of it feels like a power fantasy how not in spite of women getting beat up, but thanks to it, they feel so much stronger than how most action shows and movies depict girls in fights I don't want shows that are so careful with how they handle women in fights, keeping them relatively safe by either being protected or extremely overpowered I WANT MORE ACTION MEDIA THAT TREAT WOMEN LIKE PEOPLE L O R D everything about this show hooked me, and I haven't found myself disappointed with the story telling even where every other show fails 10/10
If anyone was wondering why the guards wasnt able to react to the monsters while jayce can, take into account they were wearing heavy armor, which can restrict their vision and movement in exchange for protection(which didnt do much good) while jayce was in light clothes and had full vision of his environment, which made him agile enough to react

Besides the absolute cinematic and musical genius in the Ekko fight, i really loved the Jayce and Vi fight mostly because the music is just so genuinely perfect; It has this wild, metallic, and cyberpunk feel to it and it's just too perfect for this fight as Jayce learns to control the power of his hammer
Love the details of jayces hammer litteraly turning the chemtechs bones to dust in impact. Also jinx vs ekko with the slowdown on the pivotal moment also vi having a full breakdown fight with sevika with vanders speech god I can’t wait for more of this show. Also not to mention vi 1 v 20+ multiple adults as a teen
This show is living proof that people don’t hate strong women/female leads. People hate shitty writing which is what most media does with their female leads, but this show just DOES IT RIGHT!
6:42 - I absolutely fuckn LOVE the visual story telling here, showing someone's mental illness in a visual medium so the viewer understands what she's experiencing. Mental illness can be extremely complex I also felt 9:42, just the male equivalent
Things Mylo's said: - "Called it, this is on you Vi." - "You could fill a library with all the things you didn't do." - "You did WHAT?! .. who saw that coming~?" - "Everytime she comes, something goes wrong. She jinxes every job." - "If she didn't keep fixing these things, I wouldn't keep missing." This is it. This is literally every time Mylo's ever said something even remotely ' ' mean ' ' to Jinx. Things Jinx's done: - Botched the Lab Heist by screwing around with dangerous prototypes, causing an explosion in the lab, alerting every Piltover Enforcer, in which Vander had to take the fall for it. - Tossed every last bit of loot that they DID acquire from the Heist into the river for no reason. Literally, giving it to Decker would've been better than chucking it into the river. - Disobeyed Vi's explicit instructions, and followed the group despite everyone's wishes. Ends up killing Vi's father, and every single one of their remaining friends in the process. . . . . Mylo should've said harsher things tbh.
Curious child steals shiny gems from the house they’re robbing Scared child throws away the stuff the guy chasing her wants. Scared child left alone goes looking for her family, tries to help them when she finds them
These fight scenes are truly amazing-the saliva, groans, blood, sweat, aching muscles, flying teeth, screams and pauses for breath make these fights believable and so beautifully ugly. I love it all!!!!
imagine if there was a bit where silco was pouring a shot on the vander fountain (statue?) and he hallucinated vander saying: "Still trying to be a hero, eh?". I would 100% lose my shit
Why is there no vander fight scene ? It’s short but it’s one of the best man , his scream during the fight is like the last breath of a father fought back outside force just to protect his own child
Among all the fight scenes, Vi vs Silco's henchman was the one that awed me. For a teenage girl like her facing against adult thugs working on drugs, it's kinda crazy for me.
True, and she did it without any fancy weapons, just some metal gauntlets. Jinx takes out several firelights of roughly her own age with explosives (also, those firelights don't really fight back at all). Vi takes on an army of adults intent on killing her whole family. And those are the people Powder/Jinx chooses to love and kill for 😢
Love the Jayce and Vi fight in “Snakes” the colour and the choreography and the perspective when Jayce swings his hammer makes it one of the best animated fights I’ve ever seen.
the scene was pretty awesome. Jinx eyes glowing and her patronizing voice because defeating savika was Vi's arc but Jinx could easily take her out herself even before her shimmer surgery lol
I like how this is Jayce's first taste of combat, and the fear and the adrenaline just makes him enter a mad and violent state, until he realizes he murdered a child in the process and snaps back to his normal self.
People say Vi should have been able to one hit K.O that big bald dude when she was younger, but keep in mind she had a pair of metal gauntlets on that could extend on impact, if she just punched as hard as she could then the gauntlets would do lots of the works
My head canon for the bridge scene fight is that Ekko kicks or throws the grenade/bomb Jinx drops over and away from them. This would make sense being they survive the fight.
i swear Arcane has so many moments you could probably compile the entire show, unedited, from popular youtube videos (that managed to escape copyright infingements etc) alone it is actually that amazing
