What I like about Silco is the way he acts as a Father. He's really patient and open with Jinx. Even despite her reckless and mad behavior he does his best to care for her. He really does love his daughter.
That’s what I noticed too, and many consider both of them as bad characters but I never once considered Jinx a bad guy in the least; and the more I watch Silco, I’m seriously struggling to acknowledge him as a straight up villain, but a grey character. Everyone in the series has become a subject of their circumstances
Agree. The world cut them both down and he decided that he wasn’t gonna cut her down, just direct her in a better way and be there for her when she needed him whatever she knew she needed him or not. He is the one person in the whole show that was there for her unconditionally, flaws and all.
@@Alisibeth_Talia212 Outside of his relationship with Jinx, he's basically evil. He has a righteous cause, with which I sympathize. But he's willing to do ANYTHING to achieve it (with a mantra about that, which he's repeated several times). Vander left the cause because he realized how many would have to die for it, but that's not a problem for Silco. Silco floods the streets with Shimmer, a drug with bad consequences as we saw with the dwellers Cait dealt with when searching for a way to save Vi. Silco had child labor, and was willing to kill children (would have killed Vander's 4, would have killed the son of one of his lieutenants if Jayce hadn't already, etc.). If he's morally grey, then it's a really DARK shade of grey. I tend to say Silco was a very good father to Jinx, but a very bad influence for Jinx.
He lets his daughter customize his presents then dares people to talk about it. I let mine do the same with my welding mask. But i didn't pay very good attention so it burst into flames. I saved most of it
He really stood out since most villain parents dump their kid the second their ambitions are threatened. Silco didn’t, and that made him a super refreshing villain as a result
That’s the thing, I don’t see Silco as a villian his ambition of Zaun isn’t out of desire for power but out of desire for freedom. This desire fueled by the mistreatment by the people in the over world. His want for freedom lead him to doing heinous act most especially the spread of shimmer to fund his goal. Throughout the serious Jinx humanizes him, I would love to seen the man Silco became, become leader of Zaun because he became a man with the right character to lead compared to the person who at the beginning of the show. At the end of the day from beginning to end I don’t think his intentions were bad he was just a man abandoned by everybody and cornered in pure survival mode until he found somebody who he could love and trust, he went from survival to protective of his daughter and became more human in the process.
@@brickbreakdown3937 I like how the only reason why he wanted Shimmer is that he couldn't keep up with Hextech and Piltover's progress which is why when Jayce confronted him about the deal, he was willing to give up the Shimmer production
What's noteworthy here is that Silco really believed Vi left her sister, when he found her. He wasn't lying to Jinx to get Vi out of the picture, for all he knew, Vi did abandon her.
I really like how Jinx and Silco aren't shy towards physical contact. I know some people thought that it was weird or it made them uncomfortable, but people need to realize that not every touch is sexual in some way. Touching someone's face or sitting on their lap does not automatically signify lust. It's trust and familiarity. I love how it's portrayed between them.
Yeah, it's kinda sad that in today's world whatever you do or say is automatically considered sexual. Like Jesus Christ, if I give a childhood friend a "bear hug". This must be sexual? Of course not for F sake. We live in a very weird times...
I never found it sexual but I did find it widely uncomfortable since not many people actually sit on their parent's lap at her age. Plus there are other relationships healthy or not that have never portrayed this much close physical face approximation before. While I hate romantic pairings of this pair it makes sense that uncomfortable thoughts would come to mind. No other father touches their daughter this way. Plus, I saw twitter posts of the creator herself stating that those scenes were scripted to make the viewer uncomfortable since regardless of what others say about Silco's love for Jinx the relationship was obviously not healthy.
@@moinuddinqureshi8804 maybe jinx doesn’t see it that way because to him she thinks she’s still a kid. Uncomfortable for the average viewer but definitely not sexual, they haven’t hinted at a sexual relationship between them but if more of the backstory is revealed then maybe
@@aliyaf9869 Given her choice of decor for that world's most horrifying tea party, it's clear she does. But ya there are no actual hints of a sexual relationship just a widely uncomfortable one.
i feel like jinx sat on silco’s lap when she was younger to get her hair brushed by him or something like that. jinx always looked very physically comfortable & close around silco
Yeah, same but I really hate how people sexualize this part like wtf, I get that you have never had that level of affection in your family but not all touch is romantic. Personally, me and my dad were close when I was young so it comes off as wholesome to me.
@@matos9539 yep, i think some people just have a warped view on close father-daughter relationships. there was a time my dad was comforting me while i was crying by rubbing my knee. as soon as my dad left, the people around me asked if i was crying because my dad sexually abused me. i was honestly baffled and disgusted that they thought my dad’s paternal love was anything more than that solely because he was rubbing my knee.
It seemed clear to me that powder had abandonment issues and clung to Vi because of the past. So when she "left" it crushed her until Silco found her; which would explain why she's so okay being so physical because she craves affirmation and affection I think.
Best part was that if Vi didn't mention her name in the Council, Jayce wouldn't even consider it. He'd just ask for the one who blew up the Enforcers...which is easy as hell to sacrifice random derps with.
Whenever his other followers would get upset about Jinx, Silco always defended her and trusted that she could handle it. Then he died sacrificing his life long dream for Jinx. He died a father and understood Vander.
I heard an interesting take that in his mind he didn't sacrifice Zaun for her. She is a perfect embodiment of the dark chaos that is Zaun so choosing her was choosing Zaun. The council wouldn't keep thier promise and even if they did the Undercity would become a cheap imitation of piltover which was unacceptable
I wish they’d make an ova special of Jinx or Powder being raised by Silco through the time skip. Would be for an interesting watch to see how their bond as father and daughter grew to what it is now.
@@humandog3240 yes, u can tell they obv had many previous encounters, I also wondered if there were times in the past where Ekko tried to reach out to her and bring her back to the girl she once was. Another interesting dynamic
Ah yes. What I would give to see Powder slowly turning into a murderer, shooting her first victim, blowing up stuff while Silco stands there with a big "you're doing great!" poster LMAOOO
Yep as soon as Vi came around she started losing it, reliving childhood trauma and thinking about the past. She really did need to let the past die like Silco was trying to get her to do. Maybe her and Vi could have worked if she wasn’t helping an enforcer which went against the undercity’s contempt for Piltover. Which last powder knew Vi was also against and was willing to go to war for. But all-in-all what she needed was to be loved for who she was and not feel like she was going to get abandoned. Silco did that unconditionally but Vi was stuck in the past forming new commitments. At least that my take.
@@elicruze7188 Caitlyn has saved Vi’s life she’s not just an enforcer and it’s not her fault Jinx can’t think straight when she’s around.. With how she continuously freaking stabs him in the face all he did was grab her wrist to stop her. No fighting back, no aggression and not even the slightest bit of violence. Really proves the fact that no matter what, Silco would never put his hands on her. He talked her out and left what she did to him as it be, and I find that so lovely.
@@Sotami and this further proves it at the end. She killed him, and he still spent the last of his moments assuring her he loves and forgives her. Not leaving her with resentment knowing it tortures her.

"You're perfect." A simple phrase that all growing children need to move forward. No judgement. No "what's best for you." You are perfect the way you are. Keep moving forward.
Yes! I notice when he says “we’ll show them” it’s through his shimmer eye, that he’s just out for revenge and destruction. Then when he’s dying they show his human eye showing his humanity and OUCH I’m gonna cry
You can also tell how Jinx and him bonded over their shared experiences in the look he gives to Vander’s corpse And in the “we will show them all” some rain drops resemble tears, while Powder’s eye become pink, like Jinx has in the game…
@@karimnouman205 AAAA YESS I loved that scene. It showed he really cared about Jinx more than someone to do his bidding. He didn't even know she had the blue orb, yet he ran to her. And as he held her he might have contemplated- Is Zaun really worth loosing her?
@@kofrixguia2019 I understood quickly that Silco is like a father to her because when I was little I didnt get any love from my mother at home , my stepfather was abusive and my own father didnt really talk to me, so I started to hang out with men , some older than my own mother and it was never anything romantic, I just wanted affection and love that I didnt get from home , and if I am honest I was ready to do anything to get it, thats why I understood immediately that when Powder ran to Silco in the beginning I have heard some people say that "but Jinx is sitting on Silcos lap so it must be romantic" but actually if you look how Jinxs personality then you see that sitting on Silcos lap is just something that Jinx would do :D she is a little childlike and playful at times, :P

Silco was, in no way, a good person. He caused so much suffering, murdered and stole as he saw fit. Yet he genuinely cared for Jinx. He protected her, encouraged her, and even at the end, he said she was perfect and did not blame her for killing him. She was his daughter. Vi, on the other hand, was never Jinx's sister. She always left her behind, always chastised her, always lied to her, and when Jinx needed her the most, Vi abandoned her. That didn't change years later, as Vi treated the exact same way.
I think he's a tragic hero, he tried to get justice for the undercity as civilized as possible. He didn't want a war, he didn't want to kill anyone, just be strong enough for piltover to leave them alone, as their own independent nation, piltover wasn't helping them anyways.

There are toys hanging from the ceiling, which he just leaves up there. Maybe we'll get some flashbacks in the next season to the beginning of their relationship.

This particular video was a pain to make because of copyrights, and i had to remake it multiple times for it to be watchable, not blocked, but still having the essential scenes of she show. Sorry if it misses some important things :D
those ain't toys, they are explosive. Slico allowed Jinx to set explosive in his most frequent place. If that is not trust and/or love, I don't know what it is. Also the writers are amazing at showing his (actually, everyone in the show's) love without anyone of em ever said it one. Not one cheesy line of "I love you". *Hat off saluting

Absolutely my favorite relationship in the show. I have such a soft spot for characters like Silco who are ruthless towards everyone except for that one person they love more than anything. Seeing this cold hearted killer melt for his daughter just gets me. I'm so fucking heartbroken he's gone, Jinx deserved to have her dad. If only she'd listened and understood he didn't lie to her :( I'm really hoping for flashbacks in season 2. I'd take a whole movie just about their developing bond over the years.

Silco is honestly so good at parenting, his parenting skills are better than most parents these days. He expects who she is and he always reminds her how she is better so much stronger than others, she is perfect, he knows the feeling of being left out and miss treated by the world. He show/gave his full trust on her almost like relying on her.
Good parent don't tell you you better then everyone else. And don't appeal to your unstable, violent part of personality. Good parent don't teach you to trust to no one, but them. Silco truly loves Jinx and is trying his best, but he is too broken to be a good parent.

Love him as a villain. Every scene with him in it is worthwhile. One I especially liked was when he brought Jinx to the river where he fought Vander and showed her what happened.
@Momo Viixiv He had his goal but he lost sight. He’s a drug lord and the people would’ve been victims or drug abusers under his leadership. He was not a good man but he was not an evil one. He’s definitely a villain tho.
He's good at heart; he's the classic case of "can't make an omelet without breaking some eggs", but I don't think that makes him evil. An evil person would have sacrificed Jinx for Zaun.
3:13 this scene will never be not funny 😂😂😂 It's worth noting that at this moment, from Silco's perspective, Jinx just blew up a building and killed 6 enforcers probably for fun and some random craps. He had no idea about the gemstone. Even then, all he did was yelling at her. Poor dude could barely even get her to hear him under that loud-ass "punk" music. There was no sign of violence or threat. Even the way he asked the question - "do you have any idea what you've done", obviously contains his concern for Jinx drawing danger to herself. The show really built up Silco's ending throughout the entire show. That's why it was epic and didn't feel out of place. He's obviously been spoiling her his whole life.
All he was tryna do was be a good Father. She's just a rebellious teenage girl and he's just trying to teach her to be more careful, all because I think he realized that she gives him more feelings of Humanity than he's had in a while.
Same here! It's an interesting tragedy that Powder/Jinx, in her insanity, was looking for the old loving relationship she had with Vi despite presently having the same kind of bond with Silco - and realizes it too late when she kills him, and that just HURTS me! She HAD the love and acceptance from Silco the entire time, despite it not being entirely healthy. (Then again, when was Zaun ever healthy?) Silco truly loved her *for her*, her psychosis, faults, her everything. And that's something that I hope Vi gets around to accepting later on, Silco was more than just some druglord, he was Jinx's family, just as much as Vi was to her.
08:15 is a great showcase of how Silco actually cared and thought about Jinx. Silco is a VERY calculative man. Jinx is unconscious so he can not use his actions here to in anyway manipulate her. Loosing his cool around his subordinates like this and showing "vulnerability" and "weakness" only really has negative impact as far as his stature as the leader of Zaun goes. Yet he ran to her aid without a second thought in full display of his subordinates.
Not only that, but something someone else pointed out. If he really was only using her, he would've just taken the gem instead of carrying her all the way over to Singed.

@@tmntgirl4life what's with The Godfather ? I never came about to actually watch this movie but I heard there is also quite nice father son relationship, isn't it?
Love these little moments with Silco’s facial expressions: At 4:04, while Jinx hugs Silco, he redirects his attention to the gemstone. But he barely reacts to it, he doesn’t do an evil smirk like any other villain would do. He redirects his attention to Jinx. It’s a small detail, but I love it
The scenes where she injects the stuff into his eye are extremely well made and important. He only lets her do that. He only gives her that power over him and shows her his weakest moments because he trusts her. And he shows her that he does even after her mistake in Episode 4. He makes her feel important. Also an adorable detail: Silco starts wearing eye makeup on his injury after he adopts Jinx. He wanted to look less scary for his daughter
Another thing I like about that is the second time we see it happen, we see him struggle to inject the shimmer by himself. It shows that he's probably been letting Jinx help ever since she was taken in
Despite everything he did, I will always believe that Silco was the father that Jinx needed. She needed someone who was patient with her, could give her the time to explain her mistakes in her own pace without blaming her, and even give her the trust that she so longed for. Vander did ok, but his focus fell alot on the older kids, especially Vi. Vi was an older sister with her own issues, that's all. Mylo was the older big brother that liked to bully his siblings, and Clagger was the kind, and caring but not mature enough to be a "father figure" brother. Silco was the perfect father for Jinx.
Silco was a loving father for Jinx, but in some ways he was just like Vander in that he wasn't able to divide his attention fairly to everyone under his care. Jinx was his favorite and we sympathize with her as an audience because she clearly needed someone to accept her as she was, and we understand that Silco was the only person who can provide that unconditional acceptance for her, but that doesn't mean he was as good to everyone else. Similarly, Vander was the same; he needed to focus on the older kids because it made the most sense. He was just one man, and by focusing on the older kids he could then support them so that they can subsequently be delegated the task of caring for and supporting the younger kids, decreasing the overall workload. This is the appropriate way to parent when you have multiple children; if you baby the youngest, you risk neglecting the older kids who still actually need you, and they don't have any support; but if you actually focus on the oldest, the older kids now have the fortitude to help divide the parenting toward the younger kids. However, most real parents end up spoiling the youngest or most vulnerable because of human nature, which inadvertently abandons the older kids.
Strangely enough I also think he was better for Jinx than Vi, even though Vi has known her literally her whole life she can't validate Jinx or even love her as she is now. She loved Powder but failed to understand her fears and validate her, she insisted in Powder becoming a thief like the rest of them even though it was clear that stealth and physical prowess were never going to be her thing. There were other things Powder was good at, if Vi had given Powder more credit for those things maybe she wouldn't have felt useless or unwanted. For all of his faults and extremism Silco loved Jinx and validated her no matter what, he was always careful of his words and actions around her and even abandoned his goal of an independent nation for her. He truly did the best he could taking care of her and pushing her to reach her potential.
No doubt that he loved Jinx but he was far from a good father. The guy manipulated Jinx into believing she needed no one else and lied to her all the time. He also ignored her plathora of mental health issues. Notice how she literally has ZERO friends aside from Silco? If you had to choose between Vi and Silco to parent Powder, are you really saying that Silco is a contendor? You can like and sympathize with Silco but don't muddle the fact that he was a terrible person who just happened to love Jinx. It's actually what makes him such a conflicting Villian.
@@BoardWalkToke I mean no doubt he shouldn't win the "father of the year" award, but he didn't "lie to her all the time". In the show he only lies when he doesn't tell Jinx Vi is back (he also thought she was dead) and when he claims Vi is only back for the gemstone (he has no proof for this). Obviously he does this because he fears Vi will take Jinx away from him and I guess it's also the same feeling that fuels the manipulation with the "we only have each other" stuff. I think that's the number one shitty thing he's done, the "everyone betrays us" talks when he doesn't even get betrayed by Savika. What is astonishing though is that he clearly loves Jinx completly unconditionally. I mean she KILLS him and he comforts her. I would really like to see how he came to care for her so deeply during the time-skip.
I love the first clip because Silco was there for the sole purpose of minipulating a young scared little girl, you hear it in his voice and the was he approached her, But then the most unthinkable thing happened someone needed him to protect them. And in the moment he wasn't just a man with nothing to lose. He had the most precious and most responsible job in the world. Being a parent to a scared frightened little girl who believed all her family had left her. He definitely saw bit of himself in her and I swear this show is the best thing to come out this year.
I feel like no one either talks about this or noticed it but I love the detail that he has a hard time with his eye medicine. He struggles to line it up right, but in the beginning before he killed Vander there's a scene where he uses it perfectly, with no issues or struggle shown. Its a quick scene, its almost unnoticeable if youre not paying attention, but it shows how independent he was. He'd done it so many times that he was a pro at it, but then he let jinx do it for him, he's let her do it for so long that now HE struggles to do it himself. I just love subtle details like that. It's such a vulnerable thing to let someone else do for you. To inject your medicine in such a tender and sensitive place like that. He loved and trusted her SO much. Ahhh this show has become my undoing.
I think what's even more adorable about the eye medicine is, that he shows vulnerability in exchange over her vulnerability towards him. just after she crouched on his table and opens up about what happened in her head when she killed the firelight girl, he hands her the syringe over and makes himself vulnerable to her. Not just dependent and trusting...i think that vulnerability is the main reason why he started to trust her with this. To show she doesnt need to fear him, and that he sees her equally
I love how the things on Silko's desk are covered with Jinx's artwork and he just leaves it like that. Like a dad hanging their kid's art on the fridge.
The fact that he wasn’t even worried about the gem stone. He just wanted her safe. The forehead kiss?? My dad would kiss me the same after promising i’d be okay. That everything will be ok. “You’re my daughter.” “I never would have given you to them; not for anything…” CRYING
I will forever love this father and daughter relationship, I will never see it as a romantic toxic relationship, because damn they are just broken people meeting each other, Silco loves her as a daughter meanwhile jinx acted so close to Silco because she is still a child inside, she just grew up, Who wouldn’t hug their dad and be close to them? I mean… it’s trust? she also need affection because lack of it after all that trauma and left alone- (I’m not so good at writing but I hope I explained a bit good- I know Silco isn’t fully good, nobody is, everyone has their darksides)
A lot of people have been saying that Silco and Jinx scenes always looked "too romantic" like they were always about to kiss. Looking at these scenes (like when she sits on the chair with her head on his) it just reminds me of affection. sitting on your dad's lap or being affectionate with family isn't weird. I personally love their relationship and I am super sad that Silco is dead now. I just hope someone comes along at some point in the series who truly loves her and can stay close to her (I was hoping Ekko but that doesn't look like it'll be happening as of right now). All I know is that Jinx needs someone T_T
I also think Jinx was stuck mentally as a child not ready to grow up, torn between being Powder & Jinx it isnt until Silco dies & she chooses Jinx do we see her "progress" imo
I love how expressive they made the Characters,Silco is such a multilayered character and it's great. He truly did love Jinx in his own twisted way. Like the scene where he bursts through the doors carrying her. That face,it wasn't the face of a heartless mobster, that was the face of a desperate Father terrified of the thought of losing his Daughter.
He was trying to protect her too. He believed that Vi abandoned her because when he showed up Powder was alone. Marcus also took Vi without telling Silco because he didn’t want to kill Vi and he Silco thought she was dead. He has been protecting her from the start.
I know everyone is talking about Silco and Jinx here but I wanted to say I find Sevika an interesting character, she betrayed Vander like it was nothing but then proceeded to be the most loyal to Silco, and for what, cuz they had the same views? Its intriguing, she risked her life for this man and did anything for him, even helped him with his daddy-daughter problem, despite hating Jinx’s guts. What did she have to gain for being so loyal?
I think its because he is still fighting for the people in his own twisted way. The only reason she betrayed Vander was because of his inaction, which she perceived as weakness. While she was annoyed with Jinx fucking missions up and Silco defending her, she still respected what he believed in. When she killed the other chembaron instead of silico, Silco asked her if she was tempted. She responded with "Not for worms like him." Shows how much she respects Silco as a man.
@@JetJoestar I absolutely loved that after "not for the worm like him" she added "He won't be the last, though" as a little threat for Silco to get his shit together. Perfectly sums up that first and foremost she is loyal to the idea of Zaun's liberation and only then - to the person she think is the best champion for the cause. So if Silco would soften up and abandon his goal like Vandor did, she would definitely betray him for someone still devoted to their people. Maybe I'm reading too deep into it, but that tiny unnecessary line, made me click with the character. Suddenly it became very clear why she had betrayed Vandor, yet, in the same day, thrown herself into Jinx's explosion (which cost her hand) to save Silco. And why she stayed loyal to him in that scene. From "strong thug of the bad guy" she has turned into a character I love. And that is just one of the many examples of Arcane's phenomenal writing
@@ar1i_k she did betray vander but not in your usual type of shady backstabbing. She told him to his face in the bar that she wasn't bout it no more. Betrayal simply too strong a word, she stopped believing in him and left with clear intentions. She wants a free Zaun and Vander's new ideology was the opposite of that. Vander prioritized individual lives and peace over the movement after he adopted the orphaned children. Silco and Sevika saw the short term losses as inconsequential to the endless suffering Zaun faced in the past and in the future. Both have obvious merit. However, rebellions never occurred in history without extraordinary violence and resolve, the embodiment of sacrifice for the future, and Silco's character reflected that as one of the most realistic depictions of a freedom fighter I've ever seen in media. Wish he made it.
First scene: "No! Don't you dare! You son of a bitch! Stay away from her, you psychopath!" Last scene: "Oh my god, Silco actually cared. You actually loved her like a daughter. You would've protected her until the end, even after she just put a bullet in you. I feel so sorry for you, genuinely."
He really was a father to her. His care for her, the things in his office and him sharing the same story 500 times. And he didn't give her up for his own dreams.
I loved how this series showed that even villains can have loved ones and even care for another person. Though Silco does love and cares for jinx as his daughter, it was still messed up how Silco lied and keeps manipulating jinx. It was neither a good nor bad relationship for Jinx
I don't think he purposely manipulates Jinx. But since he's a person with a lot of unresolved issues, he ends up projecting his insecurities onto Jinx and unintentionally manipulating her. I really do think he believes Vi will abandon her.
@@Rhino-Prime nah the writers confirmed he lied to manipulate her feelings. He even admits it when pressed by Jinx, that he did it to protect her (but also because he wants her for himself)
Silco isn't a perfect parental figure. But he cared for jinx unconditionally. Parenting aside his character had depth and wasn't a typical 1 dimensional villian which lead to me rooting for him a few times and even made me cry when he died by the one thing he loved. Yet he wasn't mad and still loved jinx till his final moment. It's characters like him that make me love a story more. My expectations for this show were high to begin with and yet Riot Games managed to exceed them. Absolute GG's to the writters.
i love how silco ended up in the exact same position as vander was when silco killed him. both were faced with the decision of choosing between zaun or their daughters. silco completely understood how vander felt and why he acted that way when he died.
Their father/daughter relationship is beautifully complicated. They both have trauma and don't know how to properly deal with it. Silco seems calm on the surface, like he's over what happened, but it's clear that it's made him paranoid in a way. He doesn't trust anyone as much as Jinx, probably because of what happened with Vander. I mean, he tends to speak differently to others, but is softer with Jinx. Even when he was mad at her, he wasn't threatening. He was just like any dad scolding his kid more or less. Granted, I'm not saying Silco is a great person or the best dad, but he did care for Jinx in the end , more than anything else. His last words to her are meant to comfort her, which says a lot. I mean, I wouldn't waste my last breaths trying to comfort someone I can't stand -- especially someone I can't stand who has just fatally wounded me. Soemthing else: I don't think Silco intended on being a father figure, like, ever. I don't think he ever had a proper father figure. So, he takes care of Jinx the only way he knows how, and it's how he takes care of himself. Like, he doesn't know any better, but he does care about her. He just is deeply flawed and can't be, I guess, a proper father to her. But he loved her more than anything and he let her know that in the end, and that makes him a great father-figure to me.
Never understood where the confusion around whether these two's relationship is sexual comes from. To me it was crystal clear throughout the entire show. We're seeing a father-figure and a spoiled maniac daughter. Silco allows Jinx to do almost anything - sitting on the table, drawing doodles at his workplace, literally attacking him when she was mad, and of course - getting into his personal space. He never "corrected" her behavior. Part of it might be love and part of it might simply be the fact that he's not a typical/real father. Jinx, on the other hand, is well known for her maniac and illogical behavior. She looks like the kind of killer that would lick your face while making a threat if you know what I mean. Her giving "Chuck" an aggressive hug and attaching an explosive to his back which turned out to be paint bomb pretty much summarized her character. These two factors from Silco and Jinx made their interactions the way they were. Nothing sus.
I don't know if I would call Jinx's behavior "spoiled". Silko seems to truly love Jinx as a daughter. Allowing her in his personal space shows he trusts her, and is a normal level of platonic affection you'd see between family members. Her drawings all over his desk are akin to someone hanging their kids artwork in their office. As for Jinx attacking him after learning he lied about Vi - I feel like he understands her mental state enough to know when not to lash out at her.
@@aphexxed4917 what you said is literally how Silco spoiled Jinx though lol. I get it that we like Silco and we do understand why he allowed Jinx to do what she does, but that’s basically the definition of spoiling someone - all love and support and lack of restraint; because like you said, he loves her. My parents hung my drawings as a kid too but they’d teach me not to draw on the desk. Jinx’s character is amazingly portrayed as someone that lacks restraint. She does what she wants where she wants and when she wants. You don’t get that kind of personality raised by Vander, as his education emphasizes on self-restraint.
@@eatandrun8020 he does disciplined her, but only when she needs it, when she was pissed at him for lying he knew better then to lash out, because that would escalate the situation further, and letting her draw on the desk is a good way to Express yourself, given her mental health it might have been a good way to help her cope, and when she killed a bunch of enforcers he put his foot down, which shows he's cable of discipline, when she needs it, and has patience, he knows when it's time to punish or talk it out with her, given what's happening.
@@eatandrun8020 okay, that is a totally fair point lol. After some more reflection on Jinx and their relationship she def has major spoiled child energy. I can see why Sevika is frusted with her lmaoo. If my boss' daughter came to work, fucked the day up, and then the boss blamed me I would probably hate the kid.
@@aphexxed4917 True! I re-watched that scene where Jinx tied up Sevika. Sevika's facial expression killed me 😂. She wasn't even scared or worried , she was just straight up annoyed! The type of face I'd make if my boss' kid is doing whatever she wants and I can't do none 😂😂
The animators did a bang up job on this, the emotion jinx has on her face when she's talking to silco about him lying to her is insane, and the way silco looks when he finds jinx on the bridge is amazing too. He really looks completely panicked, like a father that just saw his kid get injured.
Since the moment powder hugs silco you can tell something changes in him, he sees himself in that child, and from that on, jinx born, and silco become his father, taking care of her with all the love he could ever give
I thought arcane was gonna have Silco be like “I never cared about you! I was using you the whole time!” But to see him treat Jinx as a father and lover her for who she is till the very end was both refreshing and heartbreaking at the same time.
A Villain by classification, but still a damn good Father. His heart belonged to that poor crying girl as soon as she tackled him to the ground, and that’s what broke my heart for his ending. Everything he did was for Jinx.
I love the gesture of Silco handing Jinx the needle BEFORE answering her about seeing Vi. It’s his way of showing complete vulnerability. I also love how Jinx IMMEDIATELY sprints out of the office after stabbing his eye every time. It’s as if the act of unintentionally hurting Silco in any way is too much for her
Notice how in the scenes where Jinx helps Silco with his eyes. In the first scene she does carefully. Taking time to aim the needle, but after she found out about Vi she stabs him multiple time and aims it at his eye with incredible precision after Silco convinces her to stay by his side. Showing she never needed to be carefully and she could accurately do it without taking her time. She only does so to lessen his pain.
I like how this says father instead of good or bad. Its hard because depending on the person, Silco's actions could be seen either way. So its good to just go with "yeah he's a dad. Don't know if he's good or bad, but he is a dad."
Silco's death was so heartbreaking. He knew he was probably gonna end up being a voice in Jinx's head, so he tried so hard to make sure he was a good voice
I know it's a common trope, but I just love it when badass/villain characters are really sweet and soft of their partners/children. It's just such a lovable side for them and gives nuance.
"you're perfect." god hes my top favorite villain. he loved his child more than anything, gave up power for her, and died to her, and yet he still loved her, even with all her flaws. best line from the show simply because of its significance.
I swear the scene in the bridge was what really sold me for his character. I was so skeptical about his character at first because he could have easily fallen down the "hur dur i was just using you all" card, but when he carried jinx and his talk of "loyalty" with sevika, you can tell he keeps those he cares for close.
Watching this I realised Silco connected and bonded to Jinx right the first moment they met. When Jinx said her sister left her, Silco looked at Vandor on the ground, I think that moment he saw him in Jinx. He didn’t manipulate Jinx to use her as a weapon but he did what he believed only way to make her stronger and become something that the enemy afraid. Jinx is the only “weak” one around him and they want to show the “strong” one they are strong too. Jinx is like Silco’s successor to free the weak one It’s sad that imagine if Silco and Jinx were born witj privilege and freedom , it could be different. The show reflected a lot about reality. Ppl were born poor they have no other choice, impossible to break the cycle. 😔😞
The impressive part about Silco is that he almost *always* knew what Jinx needed at any given moment. The entire reason she chooses to stay as Jinx instead of returning as Powder to Vi in the climax of the show is because he knew she needed reaffirmation. To be told that she wasn't at fault, pr a faolure. That she hadn't ruined everything. That is not to say that Vi is the villain in the scenario - Jinx is very clearly mentally unwell and coddling someone like that is detrimental to their growth. But Vi's main flaw has always been letting her emotions get the better of her, and that's the one mistake that she regrets more than anything. Vi pushed Powder away in a fit of frustration. Silco gave her the comfort she wanted. Vi left Powder behind on the bridge to help Caitlyn and return the crystal. Silco was there to find her body and take her to Singed. At the last critical moment, Silco chose Jinx over Piltover, and over Zaun's sovereignty. Vi froze up and couldn't make that choice. And that's what makes it so interesting - Vi was doomed either way. The only way for her to keep Powder would be to betray everything that she believed in, that Vander taught her.
Y'know, rewatching the scene of Silco taking Jinx to the place where he almost drowned and essentially baptizing her struck me. He was taking her to this place so that she could let Powder die, so that she could let go of her pain the same way he let go of his (At least, some of it) It never occurred to me how he was trying to heal her in the same way that he coped with his own loss and betrayal.
The best thing is that he accepted her the way she is..... Never questioning her actions or words.... Their trust went deep enough that she was comfortable to show all her personalities in front of him.... Ok imma gonna continue my crying in a corner now
@@CertainlyCynical Bruh, for some people, NOT EVEN the very last episode they are convinced 😅. They still think Silco was being manipulative with his dying breath.
4:04 The visual story telling in this show is just mind blowing. Him choosing her over Zaun. He has her in one hand and Zaun in the other and turns to her in the end of the scene.
Silco always trusted her with everything He believed in her abilities and her actions, he never doubted her or told her she wasn’t capable of being great. He is my fav character
Its pretty ironic considering how by the end of the series,Silco sat down at Vander's statue and talked about what its like having a daughter. At that point,Silco understood why Vander threw away his extreme methods of freeing zaun. Silco chose Jinx over the progress that hes accumulated over the years
0:41 This.. this shot right here. I didn't realize how sad Silco looked and was probably sympathizing with Jinx's situation. 🥲
First time through I think most of the time our attention is drawn to Silco's evil eye, but it's interesting re-watching if you focus on Silco's "normal" eye just how much more nuance and emotion you catch in scenes like this.
When I had 3 episodes left to the end of Arcane I decided to start digging into fan fiction and the FIRST THING I read was “Man Silco dying had me crying” and honestly, I didn’t get why? He’s the villain, he got his position by flooding his nation with drugs and he lets his wildcard of a ward do whatever she wants for his benefit and to the detriment of almost everyone else, why would you cry for him? Then when it came to THAT scene I understood. I was crying. And by the end I was literally grieving for everyone and that left me in a dazed state for a couple of hours. This is a ridiculously good show. Honestly I never expected any of this. Wow. Just wow.
